We had a great time. Excellent location. The place looks as seen in the pictures. Matty was very responsive and welcoming. We stayed over with our baby boy in this charming place. Thanks Matty for a great weekend in the heart of Jerusalem.
Lovely apartment set in a quiet and peaceful garden. Location is brilliant, 15 min walk to this old city and city centre. Matty was a great host, really helpful and accommodating. Communication was also great. Would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet retreat in a great location.
Matty and Aviva are great hosts an offer a nice little piece of paradise in a quite neighbourhood close to the old City of Jerusalem. We'll be back and recommend it to friends and family!
We had the pleasure of spending four nights in Matty’s guesthouse and couldn’t be happier with the experience. Two excited dogs and a friendly, helpful host greeted us when we arrived, and the neighborhood made a great first impression: quiet, beautiful, and perfectly located within easy walking distance of the Old City, nice restaurants, a theater, and more. This probably isn’t the place to stay if you’re looking to be at the center of the action, but as a peaceful retreat at the end of the day, it’s perfect.
The apartment itself was bright and nicely furnished, with a functional kitchen and all the accessories necessary to prepare simple meals. There are a nice assortment of books for those quiet mornings, as well as sitting space and a nice bedroom. The bathroom was a bit cramped and good luck squeezing into the shower, but everything was neat and tidy. The guesthouse is separated from the main property by a small courtyard with seating (too many mosquitoes to enjoy in July, however), so the space offers more privacy than usual, without feeling as though the hosts aren’t around to answer questions or give recommendations.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway within easy walking distance of what Jerusalem has to offer. Matty and his wife were wonderful hosts, the place was clean and private, and the neighborhood can’t be beat. We’d love to stay again the next time our travels take us to Israel!
What a wonderful two weeks we had at Matty's Tamar flat. It is located in an ideal spot, within walking distance to the city center, old city, and Emek Refaim. My husband was in a program at the Hartman Institute and it's a quick walk down (and up!) a big hill. While the space is relatively small, it was very comfortable for the two of us. I loved sitting outside in the garden with coffee and breakfast. Matty was available as needed, and responded very quickly with all questions and requests prior to and during the stay. The only negatives were the size of the shower (if you are particularly large you it may actually be a problem) and the lack of any real table for meals. It's not a place you could really host a meal. We will look back on this trip and apartment fondly.

About the Host, Matty
Aviva and I love to travel and we enjoy very much to host guests from all over the world in our suites. Many of our guests became good friends and they are returning again and again. We also visited some of them when we were traveling to their countries.
We love Jerusalem very much (in spite of all dificulties - and there are some...) and we are always willing to share our knowledge of some hidden beautiful historical sites, unknown bars or restaurant or other tips with our guests. (only if they ask...)
