We enjoy hosting visitors from all over the world. It gives us great joy to share the glorious Central Coast, there are so many fun, interesting things to do...beach combing, biking, hiking, windsurfing, antiquing, golfing, wine tasting; plus so many places to visit, the amazing UCSC campus is 15 minutes away, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, the charming seaside town of Capitola, numerous State Parks (inc. Big Basin and Henry Cowell), Roaring Camp railroad in Felton, the quaint north coast beach villages of Davenport, Pescadero and San Gregorio. San Francisco to the north, Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur to the south are excellent day trips. And if you want to play golf, Dick knows all the courses. Our friends joke that in our next lives we will come back as tour guides.
My husband and I can put together a family style dinner, pour a glass of local wine, prepare a modest breakfast, pack a lunch to go, whatever works for you. You can BBQ if you want. We travel a lot and we know how important it is to feel comfortable and to be happy in new surroundings. We look forward to meeting you.
My boyfriend and I had a fantastic time staying with Pat and her husband. They were both extremely kind and made us feel right at home. They were more than happy to chat and check in with you if anything was needed. We had trouble finding the house at first but Pat was very helpful giving us the right directions. Their home is absolutely beautiful and it was exactly what we were were looking for in a relaxing weekend getaway. We had the downstairs all to ourselves along with a patio with a great view of the trees and skyline, BBQ and fire place. Pat gave us all the tools we needed to use the BBQ and the fire pit. She even provided us with bagels and snacks for the morning in the mini fridge along with coffee. I would definitely stay here again!
Pat and Dick were very welcoming and personable, with a beautiful home and lots of space for your stay! They made us feel at home with lots of amenities and a nice breakfast in the fridge. Beautiful surroundings and well worth your visit, A+!!
I loves staying with Pat and her lovely husband. The accommodations were very well described and comfortable. I had lots of privacy, a comfy bed, and the most breath-taking view. Pat is so polite, hospitable, warm and hilarious! She and her husband were kind enough to invite me dinner with one of their neighbors during the first night of my stay in Santa Cruz. She have me lots of recommendations for restaurants and hangs outs, too! I came away from this experience with a relaxed mind and a new set of friends.
The view of redwoods is relaxing. I made a fire in the outdoor fireplace right before leaving.
I enjoyed making coffee and eating the bagel, jam, and eggs that Pat left me.
The bed was extremely comfortable. The linens were so soft.
I like the little fireplace heater in the bedroom and also in the bathroom. The shower was also quite luxurious, and Pat provided nice shampoo and conditioner, and soap.
I enjoyed it. Pat is also really sweet.
I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Pat's Hilltop Retreat. She is a great hostess, sensitive to her guests needs, and very welcoming. I highly recommend staying there and hope to return for another stay in the future!
I was looking for a quiet retreat and Pat's place was MORE than I could have hoped for. Quiet, welcoming, spacious, fully equipped, surrounded by redwoods. I loved it! Pat was so gracious and welcoming, and supported me in every way. Her company as well as her husband's was such a positive authentically connecting part of my stay. I'll definitely be back. So reassuring to know there are such great people in the world who are sharing themselves and their home with others in this way.
I loved staying at Pat's place and I was sad to leave. The pictures didn't do enough justice to the actual beauty of the place. Pat stocked the fridge with drinks and snacks, which came in handy because I cherished time there so much that I didn't want to go out for food!
About the Host, Pat
Hello, my name is Pat and the handsome fellow in the pictures with me is my husband, Richard. We are very relaxed, go with the flow kind of people. Richard is a retired, former printing company owner, the inventor of a successful golf product. I quit my law librarian day job some years ago to have a more flexible lifestyle. We are outdoors enthusiasts, we enjoy interesting people and diverse cultures. We believe if everyone had the opportunity to travel it would be a much better world.
Five things we can't live w/o : good friends, good coffee, good wine, good food and good health, and not necessarily in that order.
We decided to join AirBnB based on the enthusiastic reviews our friends give the program (they are guests, not hosts). We enjoy meeting people and sharing the incredible area we are so fortunate to live in... so we decided to give 'hosting' a try. You are cordially invited to visit us in beautiful Bonny Doon!
