Perfectly located in the centre of the old kasbah fortresse Oudayas, an historic and tourist site dating from the 12th century, and close to the beach and the medina, this charming and comfortable house is lovingly decorated. A new system of heating and aircon has recently been installed in the bedroom.
The house has one delightful bedroom with double bed and washroom with shower, a Moroccan style salon with individual sofa and television which can sleep 3 people, a fully equipped kitchen, an open court, and a large, furnished terrace with a view of the Bou Regreg River. The house has easy access to public transport and all other services.
Linen is provided.
Rentals for short or long term are possible.
Une caution est demandée.
The house is a completely authentic Moroccan house in the middle of the Kasbah. It has a lovely feel and that feel is Rabat. It nevertheless has the necessary mod cons - plentiful hot water, fridge, hob, microwave and worktop oven. The sunny roof terrace has a view over the city of Rabat and the river. The weather was cold and wet for much of our stay but we were able to make the house nice and cosy. When the sun came out we enjoyed it on the roof. I can imagine it would be pleasant and airy when the weather is hotter. Go to the panorama terrace at the north east corner of the Kasbah, overlooking the sea, and from there you can walk down to the beach where there are three restaurants - basic (we liked it), medium and classy. Hammam Marassa (men and women's sides open at same time) is in side street (Pharmacie Marassa on corner) off road alongside western wall of Medina (bring shorts/bikini bottoms and towel). Don't miss the Chellah - we took a taxi there and walked back (in March - it may be a hot walk in high summer heat). Arrangements re pickup from airport worked seamlessly - John is responsive and helpful about arrangements. We loved our stay here.
Absolutely spot on. House was lovely, scenic, Moroccan. Great location, great outdoor areas. Would deffo stay here again, maybe bring the missus next time! Thanks again John.
Fantastic pleasant house built around a Roman/Moorish style courtyard in the Kasbah. There is complete privacy until you open the front door; usually there are tourists walking there when you do. It is very refreshing to have an outdoor/indoor environment, even on the days when it rained it was quite pleasant.
There is surfing and a beach which can be reached through the Kasbah; on the other side of the street is the Medina (for shopping daily essentials), and down the hill is the new Marina (if you want a slightly more European/Californian dining experience). There are a few shops in the Kasbah itself.
Some days there is a musician playing traditional Moroccan music in front of the house; it is possible to hear this inside during the day, but it is quite nice. Many of the locals seem to give him a few Dirhams when they pass by, which we did as well.
For guests of the Islamic faith there is nice mosque in the Kasbah. (Perhaps because it is a small mosque in an area with many tourists, they do ask that it be reserved for Muslims. The big mosque in Casa welcomes visitors).
There is a call to prayer 5 times a day, which can help you keep track of the time in Rabat. It's loud enough to hear but not more.
The house is furnished in traditional Moroccan style throughout. Plenty of places to sit and have tea and relax.
