First incredible Beatiful family, second Beatiful house. Third Hiper good located. Absolutely PERFECT!!!!! My Best wishes for you and your family dear Stefan. Sorry for My english. If return to Maui, i hope return to your house.
Overall we had a very nice stay at Stefan and Chenta's house in Haiku. It was a great experience living in a part of a house that is located on a farm like land with fruits of all varieties that you can think of being associated with tropics. I'd say that the garden, the fruits and the fresh eggs from the chicken made it a very unique experiemce for city or suburban dwellers. It is a very central location on Maui island and allows the convenience of going east or west on the island in about an hour or two at the most!
The living facility itself is very basic so don't have the expectations of a resort like living on Maui! We found the living quarter a bit difficult to settle in the first two days due to the lack of a microwave, a bit run down furniture etc. but the huge kitchen and freedom to cook made up for it and in a few days we began to like the place. Eventually we thought that Strefan and Chenta were truly offering the best value for the buck (what we paid through airbnb) on Maui island and their kind hospitality makes up for everything else!
This place is perfect for those traveling on a budget and want the choice of having a kitchen to cook while on vacation, enjoy a tropical garden setting and a convenience of being located centrally on the island.
Lovely calm place to stay. Nice garden with lots of fruit. Two nice cats that keeps you company if you want. Stefan and Chenta are generous and available. We have appreciate to talk to them when we nedeed to be informed about things. We would love to come back.
We had a wonderful time at Stefan and Chenta's place. We loved the relaxed atmosphere away from the crowds, the beautiful garden with the hammock and the fruits every morning, the DVDs, the style of the Appartement and the guidebooks and maps. Our daughter loved the swings and the baby loved the friendly chicken. Stefan and Chenta are very nice hosts and if it wasn't on the other side of the World we would be back soon!
We are on a three month trip on the Islands of Hawaii and this was a place to calm down and enjoy.
Enough has already been said here about the lodging itself and the abundance of eggs and fruit (season permitting), but special mention must be made of the hosts.
"Aloha" is a complicated concept. From Wikipedia: "Aloha in the Hawaiian language means affection, peace, compassion and mercy." Ah, if only that were so. Far too often, it seemed to me during my month-long stay in Maui, the word really just meant "hello". This was especially clear to me when it was said through clenched teeth and with a painted on smile. Yeah, well, so the locals get tired of saying "Aloha!" over and over again. Wouldn't you? After all, some 2 million tourists come tromping through their back yards every year.
But here's the rub: I don't think "aloha" was meant to be just a word. If I'm not mistaken, it's supposed to be a way of relating to others, of deciding how to act toward both loved ones and strangers, even a way of living and being. It's not just what you say, in other words; it's who you are. Well, that seems to be Stefan and Chenta through and through. Obviously I couldn't get to know them very well in a single month, but from all outward appearances, aloha is just in their spirits. Which is to say, here in this place of theirs you'll likely find a little piece of Hawaii—real Hawaii—and I personally will take that experience over some hand-delivered mai-tais and beach-side towel service any day.
Again, the lodging is lovely for all the reasons that others have given, and Haiku is pleasant enough, a peaceful and easy-going place to visit outside of the tourist zones, but I'd mostly just want to thank our two hosts and their delightful children for making our stay in Maui so thoroughly relaxing, peaceful, and rewarding. Their kindness will be long remembered. Aloha!
We had a wonderfull time in Maui. Stefan and Chenta are really great hosts, they have a super nice family and they really know how to make you feel at home! The apartment is very nice, well equiped, plenty of fruits trees and a relaxing garden will make it even nicer. The location is quite and close to everything we needed, beaches and excurtions. We highly recomend it! hope we can go back there soon!!!
I was looking for a quiet spot on Maui to write, somewhere with a peaceful setting and the feel of the country without being far from the beach and grocery and restaurants. I found all that at Stefan & Chenta's lovely place!
The apartment is on the ground floor, with a huge picture window in the living room looking over their spacious back yard. The bedrooms each have windows onto the front yard, and the beds were comfortable. S&C kept me stocked on fresh limes, papaya and eggs (such delicious eggs!), and the kitchen had all the tools I needed to cook, make smoothies, even bake.
The family is very respectful of space and quiet, but they're also warm and welcoming. They invited me to the beach and for a surf, and it was fun to be included on the various adventures. The children are fun to be with!
The house is about a 10 minute drive to Paia, which has an excellent natural food grocery, and Haiku town is less than 5 minutes away by car. (It's walking distance, and people walk it, but there's a blind curve in the road so I drove it.)
I can't recommend this spot enough. I know Maui well, and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else.
We had a lovely time at Stefan & Chenta's unit. The location is amazing and we loved exploring ( and totally loved) this side of the island. We were out most days exploring Maui... The close-by beaches are amazing (Baldwin Beach) and Paia town is charming and very close to Haiku. Our toddler loved roaming their beautiful yard and playing with the chickens.
I highly recommend it if you're looking for a low-key place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay at Stefan's and Chenta's place. The apartment was comfortable. The family was welcoming and helpful. The fresh fruit and eggs were a delightful bonus. The location was great. We highly recommend this for your next trip to Maui.
The epitome of sweet. A sweet location, convenient and central and quiet and idyllic. A sweet family, kind, considerate, available, courteous, and friendly. A sweet space, kitchen, bedrooms and cozy and clean. No, not fancy, but perfect for a small family, couple, or someone who wants to get away from it all be not be too far from fun and sun.
