The Space

Greetings!!!! "Welcome and enjoy your stay in the Parlor floor's Garden Room!" There's plenty of space for a single, couple/family, or friends traveling together for a few nights, week(s), or month(s). Nicely located as we're close to public transit, and only minutes to all attractions in Manhattan as well as Upstate and Long Island transits! When you arrive here, you'll be in the heart of historic tree lined Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn. Whether you're in the city for a work related project or are on personal holiday, you can feel like you'll be able to come home to relax after a day in and around New York City. Make use of the private back yard garden (seasonal), enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of the home, high speed internet, street parking, restaurants, cafes, coffee houses, pubs, wine bars, and boutiques that enhance our neighborhood feel. Your stay is certain to be in a calm and sane environment and you'll receive the benefits of experiencing two floors in a mature Brownstone Home complete with prewar details and a warm set of potential friends (our neighbors and housemates), a dog and a cat (must be an animal lover!), fresh flowers in your room, and sometimes (if you wish) an organic light breakfast or shared dinner! Looking forward to meeting you!

Guest Access

Guests will have access to the back yard and lower duplex amenities which is beautiful in summer and into the winter and an amazing cultural experience that is our neighborhood of Bedstuy! :)

Interaction with Guests

I am available to help with as much as needed with your accommodation and to help one feel at ease and welcome in the environment with directions, attractions, etc. Am open to making new friends always, but respect schedules and levels of availability depending on how much one likes to socialize. Over all, the household is focused, professional, and well balanced in this respect! :)

The Neighborhood

BedStuy is one of the hot neighborhoods right now in Brooklyn, NY! Wow, it really has shifted over the years. I've been a resident here for 10 and it's really amazing to see all of the history blend with all of the trendy up and coming places to eat, drink, and play all within a few blocks of walking! Over all what I love is that it's incredibly diverse and non pretentious!

Getting around

Public transit is very close. 5 blocks walking to the local train, 6 (longer) blocks to the express train. There are also great buses that run frequently and accurately to cross town locations as well very close by. :) It's only 15 minutes to Manhattan.

  • Hayley was a most present host and it wasn't hard to remain friends afterwards. Much was granted in the space of homeliness, warmth, support for anyone fresh to NYC and without a clue. Hayley assisted with a lot of the logistics and info anyone coming to NYC and Brooklyn may need. Something which eases the overwhelm that comes with compressing into a big city. The profound kitchen conversations about all things life, were an added bonus. The bedroom was spacious, clean and very good at shutting out light when need be. The house, other flatmates inclusive really made it feel like a home. I totally miss the Jazzy and Jeera - added comfort and copious amounts of affection to my introductory month here in NYC really created a encompassing beautiful experience to my first month in NYC. Thank you so much Hayley!

  • Hayley is a fantastic, caring host that will put you at ease as soon as you step foot in the house. During my stay in June the house was inhabited by very friendly and social flatmates that will help you make your stay as pleasant as possible; They are open-minded and interested and therefore I made some good friends while staying in the house!

The Bed-Stuy neigborhood has an real authentic Brooklyn feel to it. The brownstone houses are a fantastic watch and the people living within the neighborhood are friendly. I had some really nice conversations just by walking on the street. As everywhere in New York, you'll have to be careful walking alone at night but again that goes for every place in New York.

From the house you can access pretty much every corner of Brooklyn within 20 minutes by bike. By train, it takes about 20-30 minutes to access Manhattan.

Thanks again Hayley for the very welcoming and convenient stay!

  • My long term stay with Hayley has been great and felt like home! Jas and Jeera are lovely companions about the common area. The room is absolutely huge and beautifully restored, as is the kitchen space. Hayley was always willing to help wherever necessary and takes great care of the property. I would definitely recommend the Parlor Room!

  • Hayley is a very nice, friendly, helpful and laid-back host. She and the roommates acted always very respectful and helpful. The room is huge and clean, I felt very comfortable. The building is quite old, which is beautiful but can sometimes be a disadvantage but no problem at all. The kitchen and the bathroom is shared. The subway station is very close, the train ride to manhattan takes 20-30min, depends where you want to go. The area is nice, but during the night you should be careful like everywhere in NY. I recommend this place to couples because of the big size of the room. I had a great stay in Hayley's room, she and her lovely dog made me feel at home!

Greetings! I look forward to hosting you in our Historic Brownstone Duplex! Our home is really a different experience because it feels open and spacious, and as I like to call it, more like an "urban oasis." I'm the property manager, your hostess, and I live on site. With years in hospitality, I do have a sense for what makes comfort and I love to see others feeling relaxed and happy. As a tidbit about myself, I'm also a visual artist. My work has it's roots in drawing, painting, and mixed media. That being said, I love all things creative but also have a love for organic cuisine, wine, natural health/wellness, and animals. (We live with a beautifully sweet larger dog and cat!) Some things I really appreciate are mutual respect in honesty, maturity, quiet ambiance, cleanliness, and of course, learning through laughter! Operating within the "Golden Rule," people often describe me as a generously gracious and a genuinely kindred spirit who understands that kindness is not a weakness. I do look forward to hopefully meeting you and Bon Voyage! Hayley
