About this listing
Location, location, location!
This cozy apartment is situated on the first floor of the Victorian town house in the heart of Adams Morgan. It is great for visitors who want to explore Washington, DC. Whether your interests are mainstream or off the beaten path, physical or intellectual, you’ll find it nearby. Nearby Rock Creek Park is great for jogging or walks. The entrance to the National ZOO is located just two blocks away and a grocery store only a block away.
Please contact via airbnb messaging and NOT email with any followup questions or concerns.
You can take a Metro Bus that stops half a block from the apartment, and be by the White House in less than seven minutes. Off-street parking behind the house is available for extra $20 a day. You can catch the metro, which is about 4 blocks away.
We like to use Groupons to explore the ethnic variety of restaurants in our neighborhood. The nightlife is about a block away, but our neighborhood is very safe and family friendly.
You can contact us during your stay with any concern.
There is a queen size bed in both rooms. There is also a full length sofa in the living room for an additional person. In the sunroom, which is attached to the second room there is a twin sized memory foam mattress. The glass house attached to the sunroom is used to store our equipment and should be used for emergency exit only. The glass house is at the rear of the house. Please do not lock the glass house door.
THE SECOND BEDROOM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR PARTIES OF 3 OR MORE unless previous arrangements have been made. Please contact me regarding your needs. Because we live in a residential neighborhood, we are not open to hosting parties. Please keep the number of people that are not guests to a minimum.
You need to disclose the total number of guests accurately when making reservation requests, including infants and children. Please clarify the details of your reservation, including those who will be traveling with you, with your host via the messaging system on the site before submitting a reservation request.
Washer and Dryer are in the basement and can be used upon request. Full kitchen with dishwasher is in the unit. WiFi accessible. Toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial soap, lotion) and hair dryer available. If you've forgotten something please let us know, we may be able to supply.
For those with dog allergies: our dog does not shed and he does not live in this unit but in ours above. I'm actually allergic to dogs (severely allergic to cats), so I did research on dogs that didn't shed and had low dandur because I do have allergies to dogs and cats, so I think people with allergies will be ok.
PLEASE CONTACT VIA AIRBNB messaging and not email.
Anything in the flat is for your use. If you need anything please let me know. The dresser in the first bedroom has extra toiletries as well.
Interaction with Guests
We try to greet most of our guests, but our check in doesn't require this because we have number keypads to access the flat. If you check in very late or leave early, we may miss you, but we're always available if you have any questions. We live above the flat. Please keep in mind that we monitor airbnb messaging religiously and can be easily contacted through the website.
I love this neighborhood. It's quiet considering that we live just a block away from all the restaurants and bars.
PARKING: We have a parking spot in the back. We normally park our cars in the back and it fits both our cars, however, if a guest requests parking, we will try to find parking ahead of time for one of the cars. This is why it is important for a guest to let us know they need parking in advance, because parking in our neighborhood after rush hour is VERY difficult.
The 42 bus takes you to most tourist destinations and less than a block to walk. I recommend downloading the Uber of Lyft app, but you can obtain a taxi less than a block from our house off of Columbia rd. There are two metros within a 5-10 minute walk as well.
The closest grocery store is Safeway. It is around the corner from the house off of Columbia Rd. (the main road off our house). It is walking distance and less than a block away. CVS and seven eleven are also there. There are many restaurants along Columbia Rd. and 18th St. A favorite brunch spot is Tryst. (18th st), a favorite noodle soup is Pho14 (columbia rd).
Other Things to Note
If you need to use the washing machine, please note that the washing machine located in the basement. The one in the unit is not hooked up.
Washer and Dryer are in the basement and can be used upon request. Full kitchen with dishwasher are in the unit. If you load the dishwasher the detergent is located under the sink.
THE SECOND BEDROOM IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR PARTIES OF 3 OR MORE.
Very nice and clean apartment in a quiet neighborhood. Washington downtown is accessible by bus in 20 minutes.
This place is wonderful. It's not that close to the attractions but it's a nice and quite neighbourhood. The host was very helpful. We got DC before the checkin time and the host was there helped us to drop off our stuff and park the car. They also offered the membership card of the grocery store nearby. Overall, it was a wonderful experience:)
This was our first airbnb experience and it was terrific. Grace and her husband did everything they could to make us feel comfortable and 'at home' in their apartment, including allowing us to drop our luggage off before check in time. This was a great help to us since we didn't have to drag our bags around the city all day.. The beds were very comfortable and everything was as advertised. The neighborhood is great and very convenient to the Metro. It was nice to feel like we were 'living in the city' for a couple of days vs staying in a hotel. Thanks for everything!
My husband and I stayed here for a few days in June. We were met at the door by the host. He proceeded to get us oriented to the neighborhood, telling us where restaurants, groceries, drugstores, buses, and metros were located. He then took us inside and showed us around the house.
The house is lovely. Just as described. It is very comfortable. Bed was just right. Pillow was tiny, just the way I like it. You may want to bring your own if you like it really fat. The towels were soft and absorbent. There was shampoo, soap, hair dryer, etc. It was beastly hot outside, but the inside was comfortably cool. The fan in the bedroom was a huge plus.
The kitchen is basic. Nice, but minimally equipped. There was one drinking glass, one wine glass, exactly 2 bowls of any size, no measuring cups, no measuring spoons, a few pans. Don't plan on cooking anything too fancy. We managed oatmeal. On the plus side, there are leftovers from previous guests that included salt, pepper, coffee, oatmeal, popcorn, sugar, olive oil, and a few condiments in the refrigerator. Very helpful to not have to buy a whole bag of sugar for a teaspoon, etc. The coffee and oatmeal saved us on the first morning, as we had not gone shopping the night we arrived.
Be aware there is no TV. We didn't miss it much. There is WIFI, so we just watched movies on our computer and netflix.
All in all, it was a great location, very comfortable, hosts accommodating, and we would definitely love to stay here again next time we are in town.
A very roomy flat in a nice central area. Adams Morgan is a short bus ride from all the main sights in Washington. The hosts were very welcoming and made sure we were settled in well. Both bedrooms are large and the flat has all the modern conveniences. Highly recommend
Great place to stay in DC. Clean house and quiet neighborhood. Grace is very helpful.
