The space

Riad Petit Palais de Marrakesh is a small private rental home in the Medina of Marrakesh. It is located in a calm area only a five-minute walk away from the famous Jemaa El Fna square. It has two bedrooms which sleep four persons. It has been renovated in 2012 with traditional construction methods.

LOCATION: The riad is centrally located in the old town of Marrakesh. The famous «Jemaa El Fna» Square is only a five minutes’ walk away. There you can easily get a taxi to discover Marrakesh and its surroundings. You will enjoy walking to the Jemaa el Fna square to buy fresh orange juice from the street stalls, and then walk back past an array of street vendors selling pastries and other local delights to enjoy it on your private roof terrace.

RENT: The rental price includes the exclusive use of the entire house and cleaning upon your departure. We provide bed sheets, towels and usual amenities such as hairdryers. There is a French/English-speaking caretaker. She is available any time during your stay to assist you and make sure you are enjoying your vacation.

PRIVACY: When you rent with us you always book the entire house. There will be no other guests, just you and your family and friends.

ARRIVAL BY CAR: The house is located in the old town of Marrakesh and there is no direct access by car. After booking, I will send you information about a guarded parking nearby.

ARRIVAL BY PLANE/TRAIN/BUS: We can pick you up at the airport, the train station, or the bus station. A transfer costs 15€ for or up to 7 persons. Ask for the price if you are more than 7 persons.

INTERNET ACCESS: Free Internet access through a Wi-Fi connection is available.

THE HOUSE: The riad was recently renovated with traditional Moroccan construction techniques. Examples of Moroccan handicraft, such as Tadelakt (Moroccan wall painting technique with colors), sculpted plaster and wooden ceilings are found in every room. Lamps, furniture, mirrors, bedspreads, curtains, etc. found in the riad have all been crafted by Moroccan artisans, some of them living next door.

ROOMS: The total living space is about 100m2 and it can comfortably accommodate four persons in its two bedrooms. It is equipped with reversible air-conditioning. There is a common bathroom with a bathtub. The kitchen, a Moroccan chill out area, and one bedroom are located on the ground floor. The second bedroom and the bathroom are on the first floor.

LIVING OUTDOOR: A patio with a fountain and a large palm tree occupies the ground floor. On the first floor, there is a chill out balcony with a view on the patio. On the top floor, a roof terrace of about 40m2 is the best place to enjoy the sunshine during the day and the deliciously breezy evenings of Marrakesh.

MEALS: Dinner and breakfast (typical Moroccan dishes) can be ordered and enjoyed in a nearby Riad which we are associated to.

DAY TRIPS: We know many good drivers that can be rented for a day trip. Currently, the daily rental price for a car with driver is 130€. The car can fit up to 7 persons. Please ask us for a quote. Booking our transfer from the airport is a good way to get to know the driver and the vehicle in case you plan such a trip and want it to be arranged by us.

GUIDE: If you are interested, we can organize a guide who will help you discover the many cultural and historical aspects of Marrakech. A half-day tour costs 50€.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE: Our house is available from 1600 on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 1000 on the day of departure. If possible, though, this will be flexible depending on your final flight arrival and departure times.

SMOKING: Smoking is allowed on the roof terrace and in the patio.

VISITORS: No local visitors are allowed entry to the Riad during your stay. This restriction is necessary because of the Moroccan legislation.

NEIGHBORS: It is expected that our guests do not make excessive noise that could disturb our neighbors. Furthermore, it is not allowed to be naked on the roof terrace. We also ask our guests not to unnecessarily look at the terraces and patios of the riads in the neighborhood. The roof terraces in Morocco were originally reserved for women.

Great place. Wonderland-ish with a little door leading to a palace. I'd stay there again in a heart beat, probably not on August... 104 degrees was a lot for my daughter. They took excellent care of us. Everything we needed was a call away. The food was great and the place was clean... AC blowing and a smiling face ready to assist A Ten out of Ten.

Fantastic things: Location Very charming Riad, beautifully decorated The host was so helpful and kind The meal we ate at their larger Riad was splendid Powerful AC, which was awesome for those hot days. The only place in Morocco we stayed that had cold AC. Things to know: Lively, sometimes noisy at night

This is a lovely guest home in a busy city focused upon the tourist trade. The house was a little 'retreat' for our family & we also took advantage of the half day trip to Ourika Valley. We were grateful for the hospitality and assistance provided (for example taking us to the train station to book the train to Tangiers).

Very authentically restored Riad with 2 centrally placed air conditioning units in a centrally location close to the main square. Aleks has a great team of people who helped with airport pickup and drop off (recommended) and Amal, the host, was very sweet and a lifesaver. She helped us arrange a private day trip to the Oricka Vallley, made dinner reservations, recommended and booked hammam appointments and even found a pharmacy that was open on a holiday to pick up sore throat lozenges.

Set within the unique and quaint neighborhoods of the medina, this Riad provides the right amount of comfort and charm. Our hostess Amal was helpful and professional, and did everything possible to make our experience just right. We fell in love with Marrakech!

I have been in love with Marrakech, its inhabitants and Moroccan artwork for many years. The first time I was struck by the beauty of Morocco was when, after hitchhiking from Switzerland, I arrived in Tangier in 1979.
I offer for rent Swiss owned private vacation houses in the heart of the Medina of Marrakesh. With me, you always book the entire house. There will be no other guests, just your family and friends!
