This is an area frequented by young people (25-30 YEARS) rather trendy.
Its bustling food shops, delicatessen. (Midnight you can buy your milk or your butter ...), a bakery down the building. its small restaurants, brasseries, sidewalk cafe, theaters, concert halls, canal Saint Martin near.
what I like about this neighborhood is that it can do everything on foot, and to have the choice.
-envie seafood, it goes on the grand boulevard 5-minute walk.
-envie drinking a glass of water bort, it goes on the St Martin canal, 7 minutes walk
-envie to do shopping, we go from the side of the Forum des Halles or large store, 10 minutes walk
-envie to drink a glass off the Champs Elysees, 30 minutes on foot or 15 minutes by bike
-envie going to the Louvre, 20 minutes on foot, 10 minutes by bus
For us who love French food and drink, this is a good area both for shopping and for the wide choice of restaurants, plus terraces for his coffee, and evening aperitif.

This was a wonderful find. I loved the neighborhood, it was the perfect combination of everything I like about city life in general and Paris in particular: a juicy ethnic area, but still very French. No matter what time I home at night, there were lots of people about and I felt safe.
Once inside the courtyard, however, it was nice and quiet. Perfect! The apartment was clean, comfy and well-equipped with the comforts of home. Gina welcomed me, showed me everything and answered all of my questions. I even found it pleasant to cook a bit there.
The block has everything you could need, with the exception of a good cheese store, but there's one nearby in St Martin Market on rue Chateau L'eau. Some of the better meals I had on this trip were at Chez Jeannette. The Kurdish place downstairs was always packed and I'm kicking myself for never quite making it there.
You can't do better for location. Dreading the stairs on the Metro as I do, I actually walked to Gare du Nord for both arrival and departure.
Lived like tourists by day and locals by night in this well located apartment. As Sabine suggests, we were able to walk everywhere, incl. from Gare du Nord. Communication with Sabine was clear and apartment as described. Sabine was responsive to any issues (shower drainage problem promptly fixed). Bright and intimate setting - best suited to 2 persons but suitable for our party of 3. Wake to the smell of fresh baguettes from the local patisserie (we practiced our French there every day!) and dine on wine and cheese at Terra Corsa across the street. The neighbourhood is unabashed suburban Paris by day, coming alive with local diners and drinkers at night. After our days out seeing the sights, we appreciated coming home to a lovely place in an area with no tourist frills. Would definitely stay here again! Merci Sabine.
Grazie mille Sabine!
Cute place close to 2 metro lines and 2 train stations. Very easy to get around. Not the best part of town if you're not familiar with big cities but there was no lack of shops and food any which way you turned. Check in time unfortunately was 6 hours after we arrived so plan accordingly. Sabine was quick to respond to any questions we had and though we never met, seemed very nice.
Everything was great!Great appartement, perfectly situated in Paris to walk or bike (website hidden) was clean and everything nice prepared. Everything was very easy with Sabine. If You are looking for a simple accomandation for a reasonable price this is perfect. The shower is really cool!
A lovely space in an up and coming neighbourhood, very convenient for Gare de Nord and a good number of sights. The flat is very well laid out for its size and quite comfortable. There was a problem with the wi-fi and TV on our late arrival, but Sabine had it sorted out the next morning with no fuss. I would happily recommend this flat to others.
Sabine's flat was absolutely perfect for our first visit to Paris. It is very central and super close to two metro stations. The area is full of cafés, bakeries and although being very crowded and noisy at night, the apartment is very quiet, absolutely nothing bothered our sleep!
A special thank to Gina, who warmly welcomed us at the flat on Sunday evening and didn't mind us being a little late!
The only negative thing was the shower: it is very big and looks like you really are going to enjoy it, but hot water runs no longer than 5 minutes, which doesn't make it that enjoyable.
But, apart from that, nothing to reproach!
