A charming Spanish-style stucco retreat, tucked away in Charleston's most convenient - yet private - neighborhood. Situated just 3 miles from Downtown Charleston and 5 miles from Folly Beach, it is the perfect location for your Lowcountry getaway!
My inviting, comfortable home is located in the historic and coveted Riverland Terrace subdivision on James Island, South Carolina. "The Terrace" is the oldest neighborhood on James Island and the entrance (Wappoo Drive) is encased in Live Oak trees, draped in Spanish Moss...a truly stunning and romantic scenic by-way as you travel to The Pink Palace.
Built in 1927, the home is filled with warmth and character, accented by period antiques and plush furnishings. A 10-minute drive to downtown Charleston, 10 minutes to Folly Beach and very convenient to Kiawah Island, it is one of the most sought-after locations in the area.
Within walking distance, the neighborhood boasts one of Charleston's most popular music venues, The Pour House, as well as The Terrace Theater, Charleston's only independent film theater.
Fantastic food and drink are just steps away at Crust,Woodfire Pizza, The Lot, Where Art Thou? Coffee & Wine Bar, and Zia Taqueria. On Sundays, there is a fantastic Farmers Market at Medway Park (3 blocks away) from 11 am - 3 pm.
Guests will have access to the gourmet kitchen with a coffee station and room in the refrigerator for anything you may need to store. A continental-style breakfast is set out for your convenience each morning. Your stay also includes the use of a Beach Kit (2 beach towels, a beach mat, sunscreen and a small cooler). Gourmet picnic lunches are available for an additional fee (costs vary, depending on your tastes!), with everything you need to have a romantic meal for two at one of our gorgeous local parks. Arrangements can also be made for an in-house massage or private yoga lessons.
Interaction with Guests
I travel often, but I am usually here to greet my guests when they arrive to make sure they are comfortable and well-informed about the many amenities found close by on James Island. I may be present during your stay, but if not, I am available if you need me. I also have a keen sense of knowing when guests need their privacy. ;-)
Convenient to EVERYTHING, Riverland Terrace is one of the most eclectic and gorgeous neighborhoods in the Charleston area. Historic beauty, surrounded by water on two sides, fantastic architecture - and the grand oaks are truly stunning!
Charleston Area Transit Authority (CARTA) has two stops just 1 block from my home. Their routes and schedules can be found online.
Other Things to Note
I am especially attentive to allergy sufferers. My home is very clean and well kept. I use only hypo-allergenic detergents and organic fabric softeners to clean sheets, towels, etc. I do not have pets and have a strict no pets rule. A HEPA air filter can be provided in your room, upon request, for no extra fee.
Also, I am very liberal & LBGT friendly! No judgement here! I embrace every lifestyle imaginable! Feel free to be yourself at The Pink Palace.
Be clean. Be kind. Be cool. Be considerate. Pick up after yourselves (clothes, towels, etc., put dishes in the dishwasher).
- Breakfast snacks - please feel free to take all you can enjoy at the breakfast table, not all you can carry with you on the drive home.
- Park in designated area only (street parking, directly in front of house with very little traffic).
- No additional guests or visitors, unless agreed to in advance with Holly.
- This home is not child-safe for young children or toddlers.
- Absolutely no pets allowed due to allergies.
* Please note: the main bathroom is a shared bath. There is a half bath in the master bedroom, which I use exclusively, with the exception of showering in the main bathroom in the mornings and/or evenings.
Thank you for your understanding!
Holly was very friendly and even offered my a glass of wine when I arrived! The room was beautifully decorated and very warm. She also goes above and beyond with little 'extra's' in your room, like tooth brush and paste, etc...
It's a shared bath, but you wouldn't know it. Great place, great location, and great host!
Holly was a gracious hostess and provided us with everything we would need. The home was quaint and just a quick 10 minute trip outside of downtown Charleston. Great first airbnb experience!
The house was lovely, and met our expectations from the host description.
The host was very welcoming, we had a great time.
Love the city of Charleston and will visit again.
Holly was very helpful with local info, recommendations, and even texted to give me a heads up about a traffic situation. She was very welcoming and a great hostess. The house is beautiful and charming and the location is ideal to get to downtown Charleston or to Folly Beach. I would recommend the Pink Palace to anyone planning a trip to the area.
Holly was an exceptional host and a wealth of information on everything Charleston. The room was like a high end hotel room and the bed was very, very comfortable. There was also a great selection of breakfast snacks as well as a basket of necessities should you have forgotten your toothbrush, etc. I would definitely recommend staying at Holly's
Pink Palace in the serenity of James Island but with the cafes and restaurants of a big city near by.
Our visit to "The Pink Palace" was great. We wanted to be between the beach and downtown Charleston. Holly was quite lovely....totally available when you needed her, but unobtrusive and left you to your own devices which was nice. She had all the proper amenities and more. The breakfast part was not really our style...we were only in town for 2 days, so we ate out for breakfast and coffee. We would totally stay there again...Holly was great!
Our stay with Holly was excellent! She gave us great recommendations ! I would highly recommend staying with her. She gave us plenty of privacy.
Originally from Mississippi, I have been in Charleston for over 15 years and have truly found a home in the Lowcountry. I am self-employed and love antiques, cooking, reading and home-improvement projects. I also love meeting new people and I believe that AirBnB is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about others...as well as myself.
