A really cute little cottage converted from stables with a high end modern kitchen, and lots of interior wood. Very private with access to 175 estate for walking etc. Great for taking your dog on vacation.
This is a converted stable cottage comprising a living room, downstairs bedroom with queen bed, modern kitchen/dining area, bathroom with bath/shower, and an upstairs studio/bedroom with a cedar ceiling and a balcony overlooking pasture land. The upstairs room has a sofa bed and another single bed. Electric heating throughout. DVD screen and player in the living room. Good internet connection. The Stables is set within a 175 acre estate (Yellow Bird) with ponds and trails, which I am making into a sculpture park, wildlife refuge and place of magic. There is walking access to a lake and a pond, and many trails. Boating and swimming possible in the summer. This place accommodates 2-4 people.

Fantastic place! So calm and David was a great host. Very serene with plenty of space to go for walks, enjoy the sauna, or hang out with the two dogs on property. The cottage was very comfortable and close enough to Woodbury (less than 5 minutes) where we could make a quick trip into town for groceries, etc. There's also internet on the property which was great since we had to get some work done.
Would definitely stay again!
We had a wonderful time at The Stables Cottage. There is so much to explore at Yellow Bird! Our two young children loved the experience as much as we did. We’re already hoping to get back as soon as we can. The description of the cottage and property are spot-on as are the other guest reviews. David was very welcoming and responsive.
We had a lovely & memorable experience at The Yellow Bird farm. David was friendly & highly communicative prior to our stay... The grounds & trails are diverse and picturesque- from the rolling hills, to the ponds, meadows and barn. Complete with goats, friendly barn cats, & two Great Pyrenees- one of which joined us on our hikes, and escorted us back to the cottage each evening... Thanks for letting us share in the beauty of Yellow Bird David!! :)
What a magical destination Yellow Bird is! Beautiful views, friendly animals, and plenty of area to explore. The Cottage was cozy, spacious, and is accurate to description. David is friendly and accommodating host and was very helpful in providing information about the area. Be sure to visit the lovely vegetable/flower garden and make friends with the local dog, Socks. Though she's not yet learned proper domestic doggy/human interaction, she is harmless and is a very sweet companion. This is a lovely place to stay for anyone looking for a peaceful country retreat!
My husband, two dogs and I stayed in The Stables Cottage for five nights, however we didn't spend much time in the cottage. We were busy checking out the antiques stores, restaurants, craft fair and rodeo (both of which just happened to be going on during our stay!) and drive-in theater in the quaint little town of Woodbury when we weren't walking the paths of Yellow Bird. David was a gracious host who made sure we had everything we needed and was available to answer any questions we had during our stay. It can be a little confusing making your way back to the cottage, however we used 'maps' on our iPhone and had no trouble at all.
My hobby is photographing nature. There were *many* photo ops while walking around Yellow Bird! The scenery was beautiful. It was a nice, relaxing time away.
Perfectly simple and simply perfect. David was a responsive and helpful host, he even invited us into his home for a meal. The property is expansive and beautiful with a little bit of everything, but bring good walking shoes! There's a lot to see. Love the location, Woodbury is small and quaint and Chattanooga and Nashville were just short drives away. Check out Short Mountain Distillery in Woodbury while you are there, a growing gem with some mighty fine moonshine. There is plenty of space but it still feels nice and cozy. And, since we were there in 90 degree heat, I give it ten points for keeping cool.
David was very cordial and quick to assist us. We had a great time in the cabin and visiting Woodbury.
Thanks Kelli! Your suggestions are well taken. I use the word ake to distinguish the front body of water from the vback which I call the pond. Its about 1/3 acre but probably not officially a lake. The trails are on a cutting/clearing cycle and about to get re-mowed - you came just a week too soon. Let me know what might be missing in the kitchen so I can fix it. And thanks again.
