About this listing
On the edge of town, yet hidden from the hustle behind 6m walls, our treetops escape sits in a secret garden that feels like a movie set. Overlooking a temple & some of the last rice fields in central Ubud a stay here will be a magical adventure!
Opening in January '16 it will feature 2 rooms on 2 floors, two generous bathrooms (one with treetops view, & one accessible to your private pool by walking through a waterfall!) and outdoor bathtub. It's not just a place to stay, it's an experience!
Thank you to all our guests - Our Treehouse is fully booked until we reopen with our stunning transformation in January 2016! Keeping the charm of the original super-popular treehouse the new incarnation will be 2 story with a bathroom on each level. While not built in a tree, for comfort we built it on the ground, but around the well established trees - and we mean around, with the biggest of all running right through the middle of the room!
It features two 5m x 4m rooms, two generous bathrooms, one with the same treetops view of the original, and the other directly accessible to your private pool by walking through the waterfall! The pool runs the width of the building, right up to the edge of the room. Read a book in the living room, with your feet in the pool! Or, for a twilight treat, try the outdoor bathtub, its a wonderful place to soak.
All this with stunning rice field and temple views, very rare this close to the centre of town and the best part of all - our amazing staff - each one a gem. Please read our reviews to see what past guests have thought of our team.
The building, the pool and grounds and the staff will combine to ensure you get more than a place to stay - we aim to give you an unforgettable Balinese experience
Photos will be added as work is completed :-) We'd love to host you here!
Rate includes all taxes, wifi, use of local cell phone, daily room servicing, in-room TV/DVDS, private pool, outdoor bath and patio, breakfast and Balinese Afternoon Tea for 2 guests - and maybe most importantly of all - lots of tips for memorable off-the-beaten-track experiences!
Additional guests, $25 per night. We can accommodate four people in two queen sized beds and an additional child in a fold out portable bed.
Satori is our home for half the year. The Villa is our home and the Treehouse is our guest house. While we are away we love to share our piece of paradise with the world - it's simply an incredible place to be.
Our home is handily placed only 1.6 km (1 mile) from the heart of Ubud's dining/shopping area - with plenty of other cafe's and restaurants along the way. Some people walk to town (though the footpath is challenging in places) some hire scooters (around $5 per day) or some use a van service (at around $4-5 per trip)
The entire 2-level Treehouse, pool, patio with outdoor bath is for exclusive use of the Treehouse guests and is very private. It is separated from the Villa by a lush tropical garden, walls and high wooden gate.
Interaction with Guests
Our housekeepers are present during the day for advice and help.
Strict non-smoking policy. Smoking only permitted outdoors. No Pets. No candles in rooms.
A patio will run the full length of the upstairs to capitalise in the same stunning view the original treehouse enjoyed.
Well, what can I say.. We LOVED our stay, which was way too short!! When arriving by taxi, with the great explanation!, (like 5-10min from center, just straight ahead, really easy!), we first weren't too impressed by the street and surrounding. Just, nothing special, while we were expecting something really nice. But when the door opened... Really, it was like MAGIC. The rice fields were shining from the sunlight and also Wayan's welcoming smile was bright :D It was amazing from that moment. Wayan made us feel welcome immediately by showing us what everything was & giving a welcome drink. Great!! And that feeling stayed the two nights. Also the other staff members were really nice!! Well, about the treehouse. It is exactly as the pictures. An amazing view from the bedroom, a simple but also really nice bathroom on the same floor as the bedroom, and in between there's even a small kitchen, which is really nice for keeping drinks or maybe if you're staying for a longer time for cooking small things. And upstairs you have the nice study room, which I guess can accommodate even two more guests (we were only with two) and there is an amazing balcony on which we had our breakfast, great!! And via a cute sort of bridge you go to the amazing shower, which looks so nice and has a nice view again. Amazing! And than there is the garden!!! Gorgeous. Cute bath with really romantic lights at night, a great view, and it's big enough for two people to watch the nice rice fields. & There is of course the waterfall. So cool! And we brushed our teeth outside, in the small kitchen. So cute! :-) Oh and not to forget, breakfast was so lovely. Really nice fruit mountain, with fruit yogurt and muesli; and the banana pancakes were really good as well and it was a lot! The other two options we didn't try as we thought it was less special, but probably also really nice :) It's really nice how they managed to separate the villa from the treehouse just by plants and one door, it's done nicely! And we were lucky enough to be the only guests one day, so we could use the pool as well!! Amaaaazing that this was allowed! Great. We also got a dessert, made by Wayan. She left it for us. So nice! And she made sure we had a motorbike, and taxi to our next accommodation, everything. Perfect!! She was there during the beginning of the day. There were towels to use and just all was great :-) You also get a mobile phone to call if necessary. Can't say anything else besides: really good!! Almost perfect :-) Maybe shower, because it was either really hot, or really cold. But that could just be Bali ;) Oh and of course, there are ants outside walking, but even I didn't got too scared haha while I'm afraid of every small ant there...
Yes - it's realy magical, Marks treehouse in that wunderful town Ubud. We enjoyed our stay, the excellent breakfast und all the help of the lovly stuff. Love & peace to all of you. It was another awesome experience during our trip through Bali. Thanks and all the best from Petra & Stefan
Well... You'll feel at home. Even if your place will never look like a Treehouse in Ubud, above the rice fields, with amazing amenities and a friendly & helpful staff. You'll be home anyway. (Mark, cherry on the cake, watching 'Extras' with a balinese tea at 5pm, guilty pleasure)
Mark was lovely and most helpful with anything I needed. Only thing better than Mark was his amazing staff - super attentive and GREAT with suggestions for local adventures. Also breakfast is delicious! Location is a 15 min walk to center Ubud. Only downfall is the house is on a busy street, so if you're a light sleeper bring earplugs. I was so exhausted from the daily adventures that I passed out no problem.
It was great meeting you and your mum Laura! Thanks for being great guests - come back and sample our brand new treehouse soon - oh and because we aim for perfection we're building a new 6m high wall between us and the hustle of Ubud - no need for those light sleepers to worry about ear plugs!
Mark was amazing. Although he wasn't there initially when I arrived, he made sure I had a driver at the airport to pick me up and bring me to the magical treehouse. When I did eventually meet him, he was so welcoming! The treehouse was absolutely a perfect place to stay in Ubud. The staff were amazing and met my every wants and needs. I enjoyed my stay very much and can't wait to come back!
Highly recommended but good luck getting a date as this gem of a place appears to be in high demand. The pictures and general overview of the Treehouse are highly accurate. Dealing with Mark before, during, and after our 5 night stay was a breeze
We elected to have Dewa pick us up at airport and subsequently did 2 day trips w/him and the return to the airport. He was a clear highlight of our stay and we felt lucky to have his insight into Balinese culture, history, and you know, the touristy stuff!
The walk into Ubud is not as bad as some have portrayed, my only recommendation is to not do it at night if you have children as there are some spots that are tricky.
Wayan and staff were very generous working around our schedules and getting breakfast and arrangements for the day to coincide. We felt like we had a support system to navigate Ubud's many food, tour, and shopping decisions.
We look forward to possibly returning to the treehouse in 2017 or later as it is a serious haul from Houston. We already miss this place and Bali!
This place is a gem in Ubud, just off of the crazy streets this haven of a place looking over the rice parties is a perfect retreat. Waylon was the most gracious host and accommodated our every need. The sweetest!!! Highly highly recommend this place!
