The Space

Situated near the heart of bustling artistic and cultural centre of Ubud, Bali, Satori is a lovely private house that offers super comfortable accommodation in a jungle garden setting with stunning rice field views.

NEWS FLASH: We were just advised we have been nominated as a Bali finalist in 2014 AIRBNB HOST OF THE YEAR AWARDS. This is all down to our past guests flooding us with a truly humbling amount of 5 star reviews. To those guys we give great thanks! For those of you who haven't experienced a Bali adventure with us yet, make a plan, we'll do our very best to give you a 5 star experience too! :-)

If you're after an isolated, out of the way retreat, then Satori may be a little too urban for you. Here we offer the best of both worlds, close proximity to all the wonderful services that Ubud offers, within a truly magical setting! We're handily situated a short distance from the heart of the village, hidden behind a high wall at the gateway to the village that offers no clue to the stunning property and rice fields that lie behind it.

We offer 2 accommodation options to select from, The Treehouse listed here, and the Villa listed at this location....

Groups can rent both together for the ultimate getaway.

The Treehouse at Satori:
Constructed carefully amongst a tall stand of trees sits The Treehouse.

The upstairs room is a Javanese teak house, boasting a generously proportioned day bed (can convert to full size single bed) TV/DVD, desk and charming stone bathroom. Glass doors slide back to the stunning view where you can relax in the outdoor furniture created from reclaimed wood from old fishing boats, and take in a vista that flows from a jungle frame to the rice field valley beyond.

Downstairs is the cosy air conditioned bedroom with queen-sized bed, Bose ipod dock sound system and a floor-to-ceiling glass wall inviting in the magical setting. Steps away is an indoor/outdoor kitchenette and an additional bathroom.

A path beside the Treehouse leads alongside our waterfall feature to a private outdoor sitting area. Also set here is a beautiful handmade wooden bathtub, a perfect spot to float with a glass of your favourite something and contemplate the ever-changing light on the rice field beyond.

The shared yoga/massage studio lies between The Treehouse and the neighbouring Villa. It's furnished with two quality massage tables, yoga mats, oil burner and a stereo system pre-loaded with relaxing sounds and music. Let us contact a talented massage therapist to visit for the perfect end to a memorable Bali day!

At your service...
While there is no doubt Satori's accommodation and setting will impress we predict it will be our wonderful staff that will ensure your stay is truly memorable. Sak Ming our manager knows Ubud like few others. She is on call to help you with any query or problem. Kadek our Treehouse housekeeper, and Wayan our Villa housekeeper love to receive guests and help in anyway that might make your stay more comfortable.

At Satori we can assist you in arranging almost anything, at cost price. We never receive a commission or kick back from any service or company we might recommend. We simply want you have to have an amazing experience, at the best price possible.

Satori is handily placed only 2km from the heart of Ubud's dining/shopping area. It lies amongst lush jungle gardens above a stream of great importance to the local village. At one end lies a small temple where holy water is collected from an underground spring for important ceremonies and at the other is a bathing and laundry area, a social point for local villagers. Making your home away from home at Satori means the magic of daily Balinese life is all around....

Satori is a celebration of all that is Bali. We hope you'll allow us the opportunity to create for you a truly magical getaway!

  • From the moment the front door was opened for us and we encountered the amazing smiles and warm welcome from Kadek and Wayan, we knew we were going to have a magical stay. The Treehouse is like nothing we have ever experienced before, absolutely unique and we enjoyed every single minute. Each morning as we enjoyed a beautiful fresh fruit "mountain" for breakfast and delicious coffee on our third floor balcony, we watched the rice farmer lead his ducks in single-line procession through the paddies to begin the day. It was captivating! The Treehouse surrounds are natural and very appealing, we were lucky enough to witness Balinese performers in the temple opposite playing their music and performing dances. We hired a scooter for the duration of our stay which made it very simple to explore the whole area and allowed us enjoy lots of delicious food in the restaurants around Ubud. We will certainly be back, a truly magical place indeed.

  • What a magical place! This really is a stay with a difference and one you will remember. We had such a delightful time here and didn't want to leave. It's a great location close to Ubud and we would definitely recommend a little scooter to explore at your own will. The place itself is just lovely overlooking the paddy fields and the open air bathroom is a real delight. The staff really couldn't have been more helpful, one of them even took the time out to teach us how to ride a scooter. I have to mention Wayan in particular as she was so cheery every day and helped us in every way and her breakfast was exquisite! Dewa, the driver also is lovely and his prices are very reasonable and we would thoroughly recommend using him. Overall, a fab stay which we can't recommend highly enough.

  • We enjoyed staying at the treehouse! It's a quirky two level house where the ground floor is a small bedroom, and the upper floor is a living / work room.both rooms have huge windows to the garden and paddy fields, a wonderful view to wake up to!. The bathrooms (2!) are actually in another structure, which, on the top floor, is connected by a bridge. How cool is that! The downside is that you have to go outside to go there. Oh, when you're outside anyway, why not use the bathtub overlooking the paddy fields! Look at the ducks which are about to become crispy ducks in the restaurants nearby. The center of Ubud is actually pretty close, but it was so hot, that we got a bit nauseous walking there. So after a while we asked the staff to get us a nice cool a/c taxi (some feelings of guilt included).
The proximity to town does mean that there is some traffic noise. No problem for us, but if you require total silence, look elsewhere (you will probably also need for a permanent driver) All in all we had a pleasant stay, and the staff was helpful. Oh! And if you want to explore the surroundings you MUST hire Dewa, their preferred driver. He is a knowledgeable, kindhearted guy, and is always keen to show you the non touristy gems.

  • We had such a great experience with Mark at Satori! Before we even got there it was so easy to get in touch with Mark with any questions that we had. He was always willing to help us with anything including rides and setting up activities. The treehouse was so great! The staff there was more than sweet and I would love to have taken them home with me! Wayan was wonderful!! She was so awesome to wake up to and come home to everyday!

  • I didn't actually meet Mark personally as he was away, but he made sure to be in contact with all necessary information before we arrived, and checked in with us during our stay, and after we left. Wayan and the other staff were great and helped us out when the driver picking us up for our transfer to the Gili Islands couldn't find the place.

  • A truly magical place, made possible by the splendid service of the host, manager, housekeepers and driver. My girlfriend and I was looking for a place close to nature and this was the perfect answer, don't worry about the insects, they did no harm to us. Staying here was a comfortable yet eye-opening experience. The outdoor shower was great and the in-house massage is definitely worth a go. Breakfast is nutritious and delicious and there is a cellphone provided for you to contact the staff at all time. You feel really well taken care of here. Will definitely be back in future.

  • We had a great time staying in the treehouse! The view is so wonderful and the treehouse itself was such an interesting place to stay. The walk Into town is about 20 minutes. We rented scooters with the help of Wayan at the treehouse. We had a blast riding around on them and found it much more fun to explore on the scooters rather than by foot.
The treehouse had everything you would need and they provide a delicious breakfast as well. Wayan and staff we happy to help us with any questions we had. We would definitely stay there again.
    Thanks :)

  • My sister, her friend and I all stayed in the treehouse for three nights during our time in Ubud. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and felt welcomed by both Wayan and Kadek who ensured that they made our stay one to remember. Wayan was particularly helpful in contacting local restaurants so we could order a takeaway following a long day out. We requested an early breakfast one morning as we had to leave early for our white water rafting and both of the hosts were more than happy to prepare our early breakfast and deliver it to our room on time. The treehouse itself is lovely and comfortable to stay in. The views over the rice paddies are spectacular and really make the stay that little bit more special. The shower was powerful and hot and although we didn't actually cook in the kitchen, it was fully equipped. We really recommend a stay in this beautiful treehouse and it certainly will not disappoint!
