Situated near the heart of bustling artistic and cultural centre of Ubud, Bali, Satori offers comfortable accommodation in a jungle garden setting with stunning rice field views. My home for half the year is a beautiful property that I am thrilled to share with others when I am away. It is our aim to provide you a wonderful base for a a truly memorable Balinese adventure!

NEWS FLASH: We were just advised we have been nominated as a Bali finalist in 2014 AIRBNB HOST OF THE YEAR AWARDS. This is all down to our past guests flooding us with a truly humbling amount of 5 star reviews. To those guys we give great thanks! For those of you who haven't experienced a Bali adventure with us yet, make a plan, we'll do our very best to give you a 5 star experience too! :-)

If you're after an isolated, out of the way retreat, then Satori may be a little too urban for you. Here we offer the best of both worlds, close proximity to all the wonderful services that Ubud offers, within a truly magical setting! We're handily situated a short distance from the heart of the village, hidden behind a high wall at the gateway to the village that offers no clue to the stunning property and rice fields that lie behind it.

PLEASE NOTE: We are lucky enough to receive several requests for bookings daily. To save you and ourselves time we constantly keep our calendar accurate. If the dates read as unavailable please know that they are, we are in that instance, unfortunately, unable to assist you. If the dates are free, then please select INSTANT BOOK to secure your stay with us!

We are pleased to offer single night bookings ONLY if there is a single night available between two existing bookings. This would incur an additional room turnover fee of IDR 100,000 payable direct our housekeepers. Room turnovers are a significant amount of extra work for our staff, so we like to compensate them in this way. Please message us if you would like a single night booking.

We offer 2 accommodation options to select from, The Treehouse listed here, and the Villa listed at this location....

Groups can rent both together for the ultimate getaway.

The Treehouse at Satori:
Constructed carefully amongst a tall stand of trees sits The Treehouse.

The upstairs room is a Javanese teak house, boasting a generously proportioned day bed (can convert to full size single bed) TV/DVD, desk and charming stone bathroom. Glass doors slide back to the stunning view where you can relax in the outdoor furniture created from reclaimed wood from old fishing boats, and take in a vista that flows from a jungle frame to the rice field valley beyond.

Downstairs is the cosy air conditioned bedroom with queen-sized bed, Bose ipod dock sound system and a floor-to-ceiling glass wall inviting in the magical setting. Steps away is an indoor/outdoor kitchenette and an additional bathroom.

A path beside the Treehouse leads alongside our waterfall feature to a private outdoor sitting area. Also set here is a beautiful handmade wooden bathtub, a perfect spot to float with a glass of your favourite something and contemplate the ever-changing light on the rice field beyond.

The shared yoga/massage studio lies between The Treehouse and the neighbouring Villa. It's furnished with two quality massage tables, yoga mats, oil burner and a stereo system pre-loaded with relaxing sounds and music. Pick from our menu of talented massage therapists to visit for the perfect end to a memorable Bali day!

Satori is handily placed only 2km from the heart of Ubud's dining/shopping area. It lies amongst lush jungle gardens above a stream of great importance to the local village. At one end lies a small temple where holy water is collected from an underground spring for important ceremonies and at the other is a bathing and laundry area, a social point for local villagers. • The tree house is lovely, with beautiful views onto lush green rice field. The staff are very attentive, organising massages and fixing the wifi issue very quickly. We used Dewa, the driver, quite a lot- for a lovely day trip to the volcano and hot springs and just into town. You can walk it, but it's a pretty long walk when it's hot and quite 'interesting' when it's dark!! The street outside us quite busy, and you can hear a bit of traffic noise, but it wasn't a huge issue for us. The bed was comfy and breakfast was light and tasty - you might want to negotiate some variety if you're staying for a while, but it was fine for us, and the coffee was good.
We had a lovely stay and would recommend the treehouse for anyone who wants to be a little out of the middle of town, with beautiful views.
Mark was really easy to communicate with - even for last minute queries - and checked with us once we'd arrived to make sure everything was good. We felt very looked after. Thanks Mark.

  • We had a truly unique and memorable stay at the treehouse. The designs were beautiful, and there were great views of the rice fields from our rooms.

What made the stay most pleasant was the hospitality of Mark and his staff. Mark was always prompt in his email replies, and helped to organise our transport and tours smoothly. Wayan was really cheerful and it was a joy having her there.

    Highly recommended!

  • Just had 6 weeks in The Magical Treehouse where my friends stayed. We rented the villa and the Treehouse! They loved staying up in the trees, the view over the rice fields is spectacular. The house and the very attentive staff made it a wonderful holiday hideout.Great place, loved it!

  • We had a lovely stay at Satori Treehouse. The view of the rice paddies that you wake up to every morning is hard to believe, considering how close to downtown Ubud you are. Our hosts were gracious with the widest smiles we have ever seen, and served us with great coffee, tea, muesli and toast to get us started each day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a place to stay while visiting Ubud and the surrounding area.

  • The Treehouse at Satori was absolutely amazing! The staff was always smiling and eager to help with any needs we had! The walk into town was only about 20 minutes but still tons of delicious restaurants nearby! Wayan the housekeeper recommended Kafe and it was so delicious my boyfriend and I ate there three times! Ubud itself is a beautiful place and the Treehouse is the best place to stay. Such a romantic getaway! With everything you need at your fingertips! Don't miss out on the outside bathtub overlooking the rice fields!

  • We don't know where to begin with this review - Mark's treehouse was absolutely incredible. The experience was phenomenal from start to finish. Mark arranged for a driver, Dewa, to pick us up and take us to the treehouse. Dewa was excellent and we hired him for another day to take us all over to see various cultural sites, temples, and the rice fields. The staff at Satori is amazing, everyone was so welcoming and helpful, and each morning we were served a delicious breakfast. The treehouse itself is stunning, it can't be captured in photos just how beautiful it is. We were awestruck at the entire villa, everything is very well kept and maintained and the view over the rice fields is breath taking. Mark was quick to reply to any inquiry we had, and his staff organized massages for us in the villa. We have nothing but praise for the Satori treehouse - we were very sad to leave and we will most definitely be back. Thanks again to Mark and the Satori team for everything!

  • Had a wonderful week at the treehouse. The upstairs living room/sleeping loft was a pleasant retreat from the bustling world outside. We would sit on the porch overlooking the rice paddies and read a book while the waterfall and chirping birds toned out most of the traffic noise from the street. The upstairs bathroom was also very nicely done with an open air shower. Wayan and Kadek were extremely accommodating, with Wayan even showing us how to make the small coconut leaf "baskets" that hold the daily offerings that you see all around. They also arranged for our driver, Dewa, who appeared at our doorstep with a smile on his face and never once got ruffled by the chaotic driving in the area.
Be aware that if you sleep in the loft, with the windows open, you will hear the traffic and, on some nights (like the full moon festival), the ceremonial chanting and drumming that can continue until 1 am.. On those nights, be prepared to either watch a dvd (provided in the room), join in the ceremony, or use earplugs to sleep.
    Overall, a very pleasant stay!

I am a writer and director for television living between Sydney and Ubud. My Balinese property, Satori is the creative retreat where I plan and write new productions and where I welcome fellow creatives to join me to be inspired by the incredible energy this stunning property offers. When it's time to go in to production I head back to Australia and make Satori available to anyone wishing to enjoy a truly relaxing and luxurious getaway (or to be inspired to create their own artistic endeavour!)
