About this listing

The space

A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
We have 2 rooms with shared baths . A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.

The heliconia and bromeliad bedrooms are available in the teak house. Each room has a double bed. The bathroom in this house is shared and has a large shower with hot water.
A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book.

Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and livingroom/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees.

I WOULD NEVER RECOMED THIS PLACE. First: Not recommended if you are an alone women: there's a man that works for Anita and he stares at you until you tell him to leave, anyways in our experience this man was staring at us for up to 2 hours until we encouraged him to get out of the place. (This sounds weird but as the area is shared anybody could be in that teak house) He was first sitting on the couch and then on the balcony, anyways, he's a worker not a guest and that's why we complaint about it , Anita just ignored us and did act as if it was totally ok. but you know, IT WASN'T Anita was very rude to me and to the other people too, I heard the guests talking about it since they had a bad impression of her on the check in and at breakfast, it doesn't matter what you are asking for: in my experience, our fan just stopped working one day, Anita lives right on the place and despite of that it took a loooong time for her to bring a good one, the WORST is that when she brought the other fan to us she just got in to our room so disrespectfully even stepping on some clothes we had drying. I mean the place is her's but WE ARE PAYING TO STAY, is not like she's making you a favor right?... *******SUPER IMPORTANT****If you are a delicate person don't even think about this option, BREAKFAST ALSO INCLUDES EATING WHILE SMELLING A DENSE CAT EXCREMENT AND PISS ODOR. This is for real my people. I have been in many other places with Airbnb , even cheaper than this , and this one is just the best example of the the WORST you can get not just for the place itself(Since is dirty and old) but for the poof customer service Anita provides. Breakfast was a little better when the other lady was there. BUT WHEN IS Anita who serves the breakfast is a bad experience. One day she asked me if I wanted eggs, i told her very clearly YES I DO, and then she asked again like if she "wasn't" hearing me, I felt that in some way she wanted me to say no so she wouldn't have to make them, very weird attitude since when I said yes she just got her head down and then looked at me with pissed-off face.. THAT was creepy by the way, I left my chair for a minute just to bring more bread to finish my eggs and she took them away, I had more than the half of the eggs on my plate and she did it anyway, didn't even ask. So if you want to stay at this place you have to be aware: it includes the rudeness, the dirtiness, the lack of professionalism and lack of care for the customer. Anita is selling her places so is...

The stay in villa Buena Vista was just great! Anita been very friendly and accommodating, easy communication. The bungalow has an amazing view into the rainforest, you will see monkeys playing and jumping around your terrace.. Amazing teak bungalow with spacious living room, kitchen, hot water bathroom, close distance to numerous restaurants and the beach.. Don't miss the amazing breakfast with views over the ocean and national park.

Fantastic host and fantastic location. Anita is one of our favourite hosts! Funny and welcoming with some great stories! Her home is in a great location and the wildlife that passes through her garden is amazing, monkeys, birds, iguanas to name a few. You won't be disappointed staying with Anita:)

Nice terrace and big bathroom with hot water. The parking is safe. Wasn't able to check the breakfast as it started at 7 and we left around 6.45 to get to Manuel Antonio park before it gets crowded. 15-20 min walk to the closest beach.

Anita was a great host! She is super friendly and helped arrange everything, including a taxi ride at 4:30am! Thanks! The house is located in a pretty steep road, and Anita asked about our physical condition before confirming the reservation. It's a steep 10min walk to the main road where you can catch a bus to the Park or Quepos. There's a mini market and dozens of restaurants nearby. The room was very clean, but it gets really hot at night. Bathroom had a great shower, and the house has a fully equipped kitchen. We would definitely stay at Casa Buena Vista again. Thanks for everything, Anita!

Anita was a very nice host to us, offering complimentary breakfast and was there to answer our questions about the surroundings as well as suggesting nearby places to visit which we would never have found otherwise. The place has lovely common areas to relax, listen to the sounds of the jungle as well as spot some local wildlife while reading a book in the hammock, and the beautiful public beach is a short walk away. Bugs are part of the jungle wildlife and Anita gave us good tips on how to deal with them, although some of the bug nets had decent holes in them which let some mosquitos through. All the facilities worked great. All in all, would really recommend staying here.

Nice place to stay. Walking (3km) distance to park entrance along the beach, monkeys and iguanas right in the garden.

I discover Manuel Antonio 41 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (URL HIDDEN) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
