Jan was a awesome host, very welcoming. She was courteous, easy going and I enjoyed talking with her. She has a nice farm style house which was peaceful to be in, outside of the big city hussle. It was easy to find and worth the money. I also enjoyed her animals. I kinda wanted to take them home, so cute and friendly. I would stay with jan again.
What a pleasure to stay with Jan - comfy and cozy and so welcoming! Thank you for a prefect stay, the best part of my trip for sure. Gorgeous surroundings, quiet and relaxing.
If you're looking for a quiet night away in the country, this is the place to be. Jan and her Wwoofers were such lovely people and it like I was at the table with family. The house itself was charming and rustic, but with all of the comforts and amenities you could want. With peaceful scenery and the town of Chemainus close by, I will definitely be visiting again.
We had a great time staying with Jan. Played some music together, cooked, laughed, and ate together, and enjoyed her wonderful house and garden. A great finish to our holiday on Vancouver Island.
We had a lovely stay at Jan's place. The house is "island rustic" with lots of lovely charm and earthy vibes! Jan made us a lovely breakfast and we enjoyed the conversation and I would recommend this place for anyone wanting a truly authentic, local and homey stay on the island.
We very much enjoyed our stay with Jan and would have loved to stay longer to enjoy home grown food. Great breakfasts. We had the wonderful opportunity to have Long conversations over very tasty home made dinner and great kayaking.
The old Farm House was by a small River and was very comfortable, we felt at home with the garden and the nice cat and dog. The room was very clean and neat.
Thanks so much.
Beautiful, rustic and right at home. Jan was an extremely welcoming host. Our room was very comfortable and she gave us full access to her bountiful garden for our morning breakfasts. The bedroom is off the kitchen but Jan and her other guests were extremely courteous so this wasn't an issue. We enjoyed every minute: meeting the others staying at the house, chats with Jan, the lovely cats and dog and Jan was even generous enough to lend us her bikes so we could cycle into Chemeinus (20 min there/15min back -down hill). She was also happy to lend us her canoe to explore the estuary but we ran out of time. Overall a great place to escape to a cottage like setting on the Island: comfortable queen bed, great food, peaceful/simple house, beautiful surroundings. If you're looking for a cottage in the creeks, this is it!
About the Host, Jan
I have hosted through the wwoofing program this past year and have met many interesting people from around the world. I have enjoyed sharing my unique property with my guests and showing off the Cowichan Valley. I love good food and wine and we have plenty of both in the valley. As well I am an organic grower and grow and preserve the majority of my food needs. I live on a tidal estuary and enjoy walking and paddling and exploring this unusual area.
