This artfully decorated suite at our Red House is very private and quiet with it's own separate entrance. It is suitable for one or two adult guests. It has a kitchenette, bathroom with shower, comfy Queen bed, and sitting room with patio access. Enjoy mountain views and gardens on our one acre hillside property, a little slice of paradise.
The space
This apartment, attached to our home, has a separate entrance. Your personal parking space is steps away down the driveway in the rose garden.
Inside you'll find the kitchenette complete with microwave, refrigerator, Keurig coffee maker, toaster, and instant hot water pot. You can prepare simple meals but there is no stove.
We supply coffees and teas, sugar, honey, and half & half. There is a drip coffee maker if you prefer to bring your favorite ground coffee.
The bathroom is equipped with towels, soap and shampoo in shower. In the bedroom area there is a comfy Queen bed with 4 pillows. There is a spacious sitting area with a TV and many interesting books to peruse, a sofa, and table and chairs for working or dining.
On the patio, under the oak tree, there are two lounge chairs for relaxing and a table and chairs for dining. We hope you'll find time for bird watching, daydreaming, napping, reading, or watching the ever changing light on the mountains surrounding the Ojai Valley.
We have decorated the suite with our own collection of colorful handcrafted furniture and wall art, much of it from the fine craft gallery we owned for 45 years in the Arcade, Ojai's main shopping district.
House Rules: We have a few house rules (see below) but two things are worth noting - Our place is not suitable for children or infants. And we request that guests leave their perfume, essential oils or after shave at home. We've found these products linger in the air and furniture long after a guest goes home, and affect those with allergies or sensitivity to scent.
Guest access
There is a small patio overlooking the front of our property at your private entrance. And outside the back door to your suite, an adjacent flagstone patio where you can enjoy your morning coffee, with stunning views of the mountains surrounding the Ojai Valley.

Neighborhood highlights
We are outside Ojai City limits in the town of Oak View, situated on a hill in a quiet neighborhood with very little traffic. We're only two minutes from Highway 33. Our neighborhood is great for taking a brisk walk in the morning or late afternoon.
We're a bit off the beaten path, yet only a 10-12 minute drive to downtown Ojai. It's about 15 minutes to downtown Ventura and beaches, and under an hour to Santa Barbara.
There are a few good restaurants within two or three miles, in Oak View, but there are many to choose from in downtown Ojai offering everything from Bistro fare, Health food, Tapas, Italian, Mexican, Thai and Japanese cuisine. There are several to recommend for good breakfasts. We'll give you a list of our favorites, plus all kinds of things to do in Ojai.
The Ojai Bike Path, a well maintained trail for walkers, joggers, horses, or bicyclists is a few minutes down the hill from our home. You can ride from downtown Ojai all the way to the beach at Ventura.
Around town you'll find a quaint shopping district full of independently owned shops, galleries, and boutiques, eateries and cafes, and a most excellent Farmers Market Sunday mornings 9am- 1pm. Yoga studios and day spas offer choices for exercise and pampering.
Nature lovers can visit Lake Casitas about 10 minutes away, numerous nearby hiking trails in the Ventura River bottom maintained by the Ojai Land Conservancy, and back country hiking in the Los Padres National Forest. Beautiful uncrowded beaches dot the coastline from Ventura to Santa Barbara.
There are two excellent golf courses, public tennis courts, and bicycle rentals available. As for nightlife, several restaurants and wine bars offer live music, Libbey Bowl and the Ojai Art Center may have a play or concert scheduled.

Your hosts, Hallie and Stan, have lived in the Ojai Valley since 1980. They owned a very unique fine craft gallery in downtown Ojai until deciding to retire in 2020. They love shopping and eating in local restaurants and sharing information about their town with visitors. When they travel, galleries, museums and historic sites are high on their list of things to see.
