Casa Buena Vista with AC rm. 7

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Sendero los monos, Manuel Antonio, Puntarenas, Costa Rica

The Space

A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
. A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.

A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book.

We have three new rooms with private baths and A/C. Each has a double bed and a single bed, sitting area and of course a shower with hot water and some of the best views in Manuel Antonio.

Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and livingroom/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees.
If this room is not available please check out our other rooms. I would not recommend it for anyone that is not physically active. There are a number of stairs.

I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.

  • Anita made my first experience with airbnb very enjoyable. She was helpful with and understanding of last minute travel, and the room was quite comfortable. The property had amazing views and great shared spaces, but was a little bit of a walk from most everything. Breakfast was delicious, especially the fresh fruit and juice. I also greatly appreciated the help in arranging a kayak tour of the mangrove. Highly recommend staying with Anita at Casa Buena Vista.

  • Basic place. It's what you would expect for the price point. A couple things to note. The bed in this room is terrible and a simple foam mattress over the thin coil mattress would be all that would take to fix it. The posting also has a few inaccuracies. You can't see the ocean view from the room nor from the large deck, only from the breakfast dining room. The park is also a 15 minute ride from the place. Wifi also didn't work and the room was full of dust bunnies.

  • Nice view and a lot of monkeys in the garden. Close to the beach of Manual Antonio.

  • The place is in a great location, especially for nature lovers, since there is a lot of wild life around. It is a stone's throw away from the park, and the view from Anita's part of the house is nothing short of spectacular. The room was nice and in good condition, and the breakfast very complete.

  • This was a great place to stay! First time in Costa Rica for me, Anita was a wonderful host and the place was beautiful! Very close to the beach a nice 15 min walk down a hill, you could also walk about 5 min and catch a bus as well if you wanted. Beach was gorgeous. Breakfast was very substantial and delicious! Clean rooms, friendly owners and guests, great location, what more could you ask for!

  • The location was perfect and the property / view was beautiful. The staff was very helpful for easy check in / out, booking buses and tours, etc. Breakfast was nice with fresh fruit and juice but not that filling. The room we stayed in (one of the 3 that has air conditioning) was clean, but was very sparse and was furnished with plastic deck chairs and tourist tapestries, giving it the feel of a cheap hotel with no mattress pad. Overall it was fine because of the location, but it needs some love to feel more comfortable.

  • My girlfriend and I came to stay a week at Casa Buena Vista and we thought it was amazing! Breakfast was served with fresh juice and fruit every morning and Anita was there to help you book any tour or give any advice necessary! She really created a lovely intimate and fun atmosphere. All of Anita's recommendations turned out to be awesome. Also while we were sitting on the deck in the common area we were able to see a troop of Mono's Titi just travel on by us. One word to describe our stay amazing!

  • Great location, walking distance to 3 nice beaches, all very different. The room was spacious and clean, and was nice to return to after a day out. The teak house was a good communal area to relax and chat with people. We stayed at another B and B in the area and it was completely soulless so we moved here after one night, we liked Anitas place as it feels homely and is comfortable and convenient. The housekeeper Nuria is really lovely and was happy for me to practice my bad Spanish with her :)

  • Much like the other reviews, our stay at Casa Buena Vista was pretty awesome! The location is great, an short walk downhill to the beach, and a within walkable distance to eateries and grocery store. It is on a hill side, so you will be doing some walking, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone traveling around in CR. Our room was clean and tidy. Anita was a joy and hoot to chat up with in the morning, sharing her stories of CR over fresh fruit and french toast. We saw quite a few monkeys just reading on the deck. I would recommend staying here if you're in Manuel Antonio.

Casa Buena Vista Bed & Breakfast, BOUTIQUE LA BUENA NOTA
I discover Manuel Antonio 38 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (website hidden) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
