A private home lodging located in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica with a spectacular post card ocean/ jungle view.
. A short walk to the beach and the National Park. We are not a hotel so if you enjoy staying in a home this is the right place.
A full kitchen is available for your use but breakfast is service in the main house. A large deck overlooking the ocean and tropical rainforest is a wonderful way to see wildlife or just relax with a cold drink and good book.
We have three new rooms with private baths and A/C. Each has a double bed and a single bed, sitting area and of course a shower with hot water and some of the best views in Manuel Antonio.
Manuel Antonio and the National Park is internationally known for its breathtaking beauty and abundance of wildlife. Without even moving from our deck you can see monkeys (3 kinds), sloths, coatis, tucans and lots more in their natural environment. Our garden has many species of tropcial plants including heliconias, cinnamon, allspice, papaya, bananas, pineapples and orchids. We are a 10 min walk to the beach. Everything you need can be found within walking distance. A small supermarket, banks, gift shops and some of the best restaurants in the area are a short distance away. Looking directly at the National Park we have one of the best views in Manuel Antonio. Our very small friendly bi-lingual staff with many years of living in Costa Rica, can make any tour reservations for you. If you would like to go sailing, river rafting, parasailing, horseback riding, kayak through the mangrove, or swing through the canopy we can arrange it for you.
All our guests may use the deck and livingroom/kitchen area of the teak house. The view is spectacular and there is a hammock and lots of deck chairs to sit and watch the monkeys passing though the trees.
If this room is not available please check out our other rooms. I would not recommend it for anyone that is not physically active. There are a number of stairs.
I will only receive guests after 6 pm by direct request, so ask first if you plan on arriving at night.
Sorry no arrivals after 6 pm
Anita is a lovely to chat with. The rooms were clean. You can see lots of wildlife such an monkeys and birds from the deck. Having AC was a great benefit. The view is incredible. My biggest complaint was the colony of bats that live in the main stairway, and the spattering of bat droppings on the stairway and walls of the entrance. Leaving or entering the apartment at dusk was very difficult with fruit bats swooping around. Breakfasts were also not very generous... Just eggs and toast. However, the location is nice, and we met some really nice people who also stayed at Anita's, so overall, it was a good experience.
Our whole experience at Casa Buena Vista was excellent. Anita communicated well and helped us make some tour reservations for our stay. Casa Buena Vista is just delightful. The gardens surrounding the rooms are beautiful and we enjoyed Anita showing us some of the tropical plants that she has growing on her property. We stayed in Room #7 which was bright and cheery and we appreciated the a/c. We loved the communal Teak Room for morning coffee, an evening drink while exchanging our days stories with fellow travelers. Breakfast was excellent, served in a beautiful dining room with a magnificent view of the park and ocean. Anita was so welcoming and is a wealth of knowledge to help enjoy our stay in the area. Our stay with her was a wonderful ending to our 2 week trip to Costa Rica.
Very nice bed and breakfast in the rainforest overlooking the ocean from a distance. Anita was helpful and welcoming. Didn't have wifi in the room but was accessible in other areas of the hotel. The wildlife was amazing to look at. Just a short drive to the beach.
Had a lovely experience at Anita's B&B. The guests were friendly, it was a nice experience to all eat breakfast together and chat. The harmless fruit bats that live in the main stairwell are pretty cool. Great view and hot showers. I would stay again for sure!
Wonderful place in Manuel Antonio. Great views from the deck, breakfast and upper rooms. Anita is charming and fun, and the vibe was comfortable and happy.

I discover Manuel Antonio 38 years ago after graduating the University of California in Berkeley. Don Melton and myself first did a research project in the National Park and adjoining beaches and decided to make Punta Quepos our home. Don was the local historian and gave educational talks for many groups including National Geografic. We were among the founders of the first Chamber of Tourism in Manue Antonio, founders of ASCONA (Quepos first conservation organization), and have continued to be active in civic and conservations groups to date. I am currently working with a group to establish an animal shelter here in our area. (website hidden) We worked for many years on the problem of drownings (see page 7). I ran my gift shop LA BUENA NOTA for many years and because of my extensive knowledge of Costa Rica, I can answer most questions about our area and some advice about other tourist destinations in Costa Rica.
