The location of this apartment is very impressive. It is right in the middle of East Village, West Village and Soho. You can go out the door and walk to greatest places in New York. Washington Sq park is only two blocks away.
But, we had a rough start. The shower pressure was very low. It was impossible to take a shower. The listing did not mention that this was an apartment on 5th floor on a very old building with no elevator. The apartment was not very clean. Once we told Liz we can't stay in the apartment unless the shower issue is fixed she took care of us. She got the shower fixed, she sent cleaning. She sent us a lot of free food. She even arranged free tickets for an amazing Tango show. She regularly asked how we were doing and when my wife was sick she sent us soup. She sent weekly cleaning guy and when we came to apartment we found a clean apartment with deserts, fruits and wine!
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The building is very old but the host is great. She will take care of you.
Lovely apartment — great lighting and huge space, amazing location (great shopping, good food, easy subway access). Really comfortable bed, lots of space to lounge. Liz was great and readily available.
Since it's an older New York apartment, expect the following:
the shower had a really light flow and no temperature control (though it was usually warm) There were quite a few little cockroach sightings. It's on the 5th floor and there is no elevator. There is no actual kitchen, just a small cove with a sink, mini-fridge. In a cupboard, there are basic appliances like a coffee pot, rice cooker, a toaster, and a hot plate.
(It was a very pleasant stay, those are just things I wish I would have know about before I got there.)
