perfect choice. Communication with the owner was prompt and informative and communication with the staff was extremely helpful.
The location is in a lovely quiet area and access to the local town by Tuktuk is around Rs300. Getting to further afield places we used the available villa transport and this worked really well.
If you want a colonial experience with a great pool in a beautiful garden and well appointed rooms in a lovely villa then you won't go far wrong with this place.
One of the earlier posted reviews describes it best: how to review paradise? We were staying with two families for three nights. Luckily we could stay an extra night, the kids couldn't get enough of the swimming pool. The villa is very romantic, comfortable and clean. Asanke and his staff were very kind and helpfull. The cook prepared very tasteful diners. Are you planning a holiday in the south of Sri Lanka? I would highly recommend a stay at Villa Kos!
Am just back from honeymoon in Sri Lanka and stayed at villa kos for a few days, we loved every minute off it! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The villa is absolutely stunning and the garden and pool were picture perfect! The cook prepared our breakfast and we also enjoyed a beautiful evening meal in the pool house which was magical! Rooms very cool at night which my husband was glad off! Didn't want to leave, can't recommend George and his wonder team enough as they made a special holiday perfect!
We booked and paid in full for 'Old Colonial Villa' aka 'Villa Kos' 2 months ago. We chose it because of it's old world charm and beautiful garden and pool and the fabulous reviews on AirBnB. We were all very excited as Sri Lanka had been our home for 4 years, and this was going to be a trip down memory lane. In the interim two months, we had got the kids all excited about the trip and the villa we had booked, showing them the pictures posted on Air BnB. George, wrote and told us to be in touch with his manager Asanka. Since we were due to arrive on Monday, I called Asanka on Saturday to ask for directions to the Villa and to discuss food arrangements, as well. I was a little alarmed when Asanka seemed vague (seemed unaware) about our imminent arrival. He wasn't sure about whether we were entitled to breakfast or not ( although it is listed in the amenities) I sent a message to George asking him to clarify whether breakfast was included and to my surprise I get a reply saying that renovation at the Villa had got delayed due to rains and that we would be moved to another 'superior' villa at his cost, and to leave the Air BnB booking as it was. We just had to contact the omnipresent Asanka who would be on hand to answer our queries. With just a day and a half before we left, we had no other choice but to accept this. I had contacted George a few days earlier when AirBnB sent a reminder of our booking.....so it was very surprising to get this reply. When we landed in Colombo, repeated calls to Asanka were unanswered. We got quite worried as, he was our contact person. (I messaged George on the Air BnB app and to date there has been no reply or concern. ) We decided to find the alternate villa on Google Maps and drove down to Hikkaduwa. Imagine our horror to find the villa ( the alternate villa) locked, all windows shut, and not a soul in sight. A few more calls to Asanka and he finally answered. He asks us to wait while he calls the manager of the villa. At no point does Asanka think it necessary to call us and keep us informed about what is happening. 15 mins later, we are still waiting outside the locked villa. I call Asanka again and we were told to wait, as someone would be there soon. The alternate villa had not been aired and hadn't been cleaned as they had been informed by Asanka only that morning i.e. Monday, our check in day. The villa was very modern and kitschy and not at all to our taste. This is not the accommodation we would have chosen. ( having said this, the villa staff were courteous and polite, our stay was pleasant enough) However, we felt short changed and...
It's hard write a review when something is as perfect as the experience we had at the villa, theVilla itself is charming clean And very well kept ,any food cooked for us was lovely and very tasty ,all the staff are helpful and polite ,Asanka
The manager is a kind, warm, caring, young man and nothing is to much trouble when you ask if he can do anything for you,it was my birthday when we were there and he and his staff made it very special with all the extra effort they put in , thank you all ,we would love to return one day
Villa Kos is the highlight of my family's trip to sri lanka. Everyone in the family felt that this is the best accommodation we can get here. The villa is so beautiful and calming and the patio is such a nice place to relax every evening with a cup of tea. We even went to the jetwing lighthouse hotel to meet my brother in law who stayed there and everyone felt that villa kos is so much better. Moreover Ashanka is such a hospitable manager who took care of me and my family very well. He is meticulous and even arrange for a baby seat to be on the airport transfer vehicle as I brought my 2 yr old girl along. If you are staying in villa kos, you must request for the breakfast as Ashanka will serve the breakfast at the pavillion by the pool.. it is such a relaxing experience every morning. The location is very private and it is only 2km from the beach. I ran to the beach daily and there are two other villas along the way but villa kos is definitely a much better choice. I would stay in villa kos again. Thanks again Askanha.
