Samba - watch a sunrise from bed!

Cabin - Entire home/apt · Avenida Central, Punta del Diablo, Rocha, Uruguay

The Space

Samba is a two-floor beach cabin with fantastic views of the ocean from the upstairs deck, you can watch the sunrise from your bed! It is one of 3 cabins built on the same plot called 'Cabañas Las Bossas'.

Upstairs is a spacious bedroom that leads out onto a shaded balcony with hammock and downstairs is an integrated kitchen and living room area with bathroom, wooded deck and BBQ. Its style imitates the original shacks built by fishermen and their families who first inhabited the town but with all the mod cons and creature comforts you need; fully equipped kitchen (oven, microwave, fridge, toaster, juicer, pots, pans, etc), hot pressure shower, your own BBQ, hammocks, sun deck, WIFI, speakers for ipod, laptops, etc, safety money deposit box, beach gear, fan for if its hot, heater for if you're visiting in winter... ). Sheets and towels are optional. I also have a number of books in english to lend or swap!

The cabin is just a block from the main beach in Punta del Diablo and six blocks from the main town centre, where the bus drops you off in low season. In high season the bus stops only at the bus terminal and you can get a shuttle bus or we will come and pic you up. There is a grocery store a few minutes walk from the cabin and there are also a couple of restaurants only a block or two away.

In Punta del Diablo you can horse-ride, surf, cycle, go fishing, bird-watch, take amazing walks along deserted beaches, spot orcas, turtles, sea-lions or whales if you are lucky, eat yummy freshly caught local fish and sea food or just chill our in your cabin and let life lull by. I also offer yoga classes down on the beach for any yogi or yoginis out there.

There are many places to visit within the local area that we would be happy to help you get to; Santa Teresa National Park, Fort San Miguel, the magical sunset at La Laguna Negra (Black Lagoon), the natural sea-lion reserve at Cabo Polonio, sandboarding in Vallizas, boats trips along the Bosque de Ombues (Ombue Tree Forest)...

Come and enjoy the relaxed vibe of Las Bossas, we look forward to your visit!

*PLEASE NOTE* prices in peak season (Jan-Feb) are double that of low season and from mid December to mid March we are unfortunately unable to take reservations for less than 7 nights, unless we happen to have a gap in the bookings.

  • Awesome place to stay in Punta del Diablo. My girlfriend and I rented Samba for 1 week in January 2014 during high season. Samba is truly amazing and so relaxing, we really regenerated our batteries after our week there. Samba has 2 floors with the bedroom upstairs. There are 2 spacious balconies, the one on the first floor has a great Uruguayan style grill which we used a lot and the balcony on the second floor has a hammock and terrific view to the ocean. The beach is only a 5 minute walk down the street. Sara was extremely nice and hospitable, she picked us up at the bus station on our arrival and dropped us off when we left. She made sure that all our questions were answered and had terrific tips on where to go and what to do in PdD. The kitchen works great, the stove has 4 WORKING burners plus an oven. Ample cutlery and cooking ware is provided. The fridge, microwave, and sound system work wonderfully. There are even 2 beach chairs and a sun umbrella for use at the beach. We can not recommend Las Bossas and Samba enough. If you go to PdD, do yourself the favor of staying here, you won't be disappointed!!!

  • My boyfriend and I absolutely loved our stay in Punta del Diablo. Sara and Leo were so nice and even picked up and dropped us off at the bus terminal. They also gave great advice and recommendations about things to do and places to eat. The cottage, Samba, was very clean and had everything we needed. There's a nice breeze and beautiful view from the top deck. We hope to visit again soon!

It would be great to see you back here again soon Marisa!!

  • This place is one my favourites spots in all the places I've travelled! The cabin itself is amazing with the best ocean view you can possible imagine. Even though it is not many m2 it fells spacious, and the two terraces adds space to both floors. The kitchen is fully equipped and all the appliances was working perfect.
Sara was from the beginning very helpful and gave good advices about what to see in the area. She sat us up with surf lessons and was fast to answer any questions by mail.
We stayed in Samba in the beginning of december, which turned out to be the perfect time for visiting Punta del Diablo! The weather was warm and sunny, and the town not yet to crowded. This town has an indescribable atmosphere that should not be missed!

  • Sara was extremely helpful and the cottage was great! Sara answered all of our questions before arrival and even sent a taxi for us when we arrived because it was raining. The cottage is exactly as it appears online, cute and comfortable. Sara was also very helpful in providing additional suggestions for activities during our stay in Montevideo after leaving PdD. I will recommend this place to anyone going to Uruguay!

  • It is a lovely cabin. For a couple it would be perfect. We went with our 2 small children and it was a bit cramped but overall a lovely place. Sarah is great and very helpful. For a couple I would definitely recommend it!

About
Leo is from Uruguay, a pure gemini who loves surfing, photography and gadgets. As a kid his parents took him on holiday to Punta del Diablo many times. Sara is from the UK and met Leo over 10 years ago in Barcelona where they both lived until last year. She loves the outdoors, yoga and veggie food and was easily convinced to go and live in Punta del Diablo. Together they have travelled to many wonderful places such as Indonesia, China, Morocco, Thailand, Peru... and try to help and accommodate their guests as they like to be treated themselves - chilled vibes in a safe environment, plenty of tips and local know-how, if you want to just hang out on your hammock all day that's cool but if you're up for a BBQ we are always at the ready ;-)
