I'd like to begin my review by saying a huge "thank you" to Patty and her family for making our stay so memorable. I stayed at Patty's house for nearly a month with my 11 month old baby and my husband. We totally felt at home from the very beginning.
This was my first time using Air BnB and I am so happy we found Patty. They are just super friendly and really fun to be with. The house is beautiful and the neighbourhood was very nice. It was easy to get to the train station and really, NYC is just 30mins away. We even had NYC view from our window. Patty and her family were great hosts, considerate and kind. My sister and her family live not too far away and they often came to visit. They also felt very welcomed. We took the kids swimming in the pool and John (Patty's husband) cooked a wonderful dinner for us all. John and Patty told us the amazingly romantic story of how they met and really, I felt like their old friend. They are wonderful people and I feel very lucky and honored to have known them. Now we are back in Shanghai and I am truly missing everyone already.
I wish Patty and her family all the best and we will definitely stay in touch.

We had an absolutely fantastic time with Patty and family. She was extremely welcoming to our family and full of enthusiasm and determination that we should enjoy our trip to New Jersey and New York to the full. We were there from the UK to visit our daughter who is an au-pair to a family in a nearby town and Patty made the experience so memorable for us that we cannot thank her enough. It is a great re-assurance to us that she is now a friend who has offered, and we know will provide, local support to our daughter should the need arise.
Patty's house is great for a visiting family, with sufficient privacy in the third floor suite to enjoy your own family moments together, but also with great facilities throughout the house which Patty and family are prepared to share with their guests. The views over New Jersey to Manhatten are absolutely stunning - we got to see snow and beautiful sunshine in just a few March days.
Our thanks to Patty for being so generous with her time in taxiing us to and from South Orange Station.
This stay was a continuation of the long-term stay I had with Patty & John. For a full review description see my previous review.
They continue to be the consummate hosts! Couldn't have stumbled upon a more perfect couple to introduce me to my new life in Jersey. Very thankful to have met them.
I don't know what to compliment more... the accommodation, the house or the hosts!!
Patty & John & their whole family are all wonderfully fun, loving, giving people. I stayed for about a month total while transitioning between a hotel and an apartment after a relocation for work to NJ. They were all so helpful from assisting me to unpack my car, letting me store all the boxes I moved with, allowing me to have a primo parking spot, giving me tips and advice on the area and making me feel welcome and part of the family. You truly feel at home and at ease with these generous people.
As mentioned in about every single review - Patty does make some spectacular blueberry muffins... and if you stay for awhile you might get to see some other fantastic kitchen magic.
The suite is all the comfort you could need or want. Your own private oasis at the end of the day. And the towels are literally the softest I've ever felt... better than any hotel I've ever stayed at!
If you appreciate architecture and history the home will not disappoint. Built in the 1930s the tudor-style home is filled with warm wood-work details throughout and is really amazing to explore the architectural details. They just don't build them like they used to!
And if you're lucky... you may just get to cozy up by a nice roaring fire (I stayed in the dead of winter - the fire was very nice!).
Highly recommend... this AirBnB experience cannot disappoint.
Patty & John were great hosts and we had a delightful time. Their home was great and the accommodations were very comfortable. There is a reason every review maxes out the stars. This was our first airbnb experience and could not imagine a better one. As annual visitors to the area, we look forward to retuning.
Patty and John have spoiled me forever. This was our first experience with airbnb and never will any stay be as amazing and wonderful. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. Patty took care of us the entire time, offering anything we needed. The house was beyond perfect,it had everything: views, luxurious bedding, endless beautifully appointed rooms, six fireplaces and more. Super convenient to our relatives, hiking trails and downtown South Orange where you can take the train into NYC. We were treated like family from the moment we connected on the phone. And the most memorable moment - I arrived during the 6th inning of the 7th game of the World Series, and even though John was a Kansas City fan, they let me scream and shout for my SF Giants! Thank you so much, we can't wait to return!
Patty was beyond wonderful and extremely accommodating! We can not speak highly enough of her willingness to work with us. We utilized her home for a 1-day client video shoot, with a cast/crew present for the full day. She was a breeze to work with in terms of coordinating everything both ahead of time and day of the shoot; she provided really helpful recommendations around travel and logistics. Her home itself is beautiful and exactly as described and pictured on the AirBNB website. And yes, her blueberry/raspberry muffins are as delicious as she says! Thanks for a wonderful experience Patty!
