The house is located very close to the town centre of savusavu and only a five-minute taxi drive or a 45-minute walk from the bus station. It is surrounded by a beatiful garden with a lot of banana and papaya trees in it and even the beach is at your doorstep.
Yasmin, a lovely person who cleans the house once a week waited for us when we arrived and showed us around.
The interior was elegant and practical. There were mosquito-nets on the windows and on the bed as well, which was very important. Kitchen and dining room were located at the front, it's possible to ' open the walls' so you get the feeling that you are cooking and dining outside. it's a lovely spot to sit in the evening, with a great view.
There are not many negative things to say besides there was no whirlpool as discribed it's just an in-ground bath tub and unfortunately there was a problem with the hot water, so we only had cold water but we didn't mind that so much and Ken, a friend of Elle's who was our contact person while Elle was in Australia said they would call someone to have a look at it after we had left. Wifi is not for free.
All in all we can surely recommend this accomondation, we loved the house and would have stayed longer if we had the time.
Elle met us at the little airport in Savusavu, and showed us around town. She is such a nice person, I liked her immediately.
Then, we went out to our cute little rental house, which is just like the photos. It was perfect for us. It has a jungly yard, and we picked paw paws off the tree to eat everyday. I loved the little kitchen situated out on the porch. It was the perfect spot to see island life.
By the way, the water is right there, across the road. We lived to walk the beach, and saw the most amazing sunsets down there. The location is close to town, but not too close. You can take the bus, but taxis are cheap, too! In Savusavu, you will find everything you will need...a great market, shopping, restaurants, etc.
There is lots of privacy here at the house, so it is perfect for couples. However, we met a few nice neighbors when we were down at the beach or awaiting the bus.
Sadly, on our last day, Elle saw us off. I am missing island life and the cute little house.
Elle Simpson was a very good host and even did a special favor for me. The rental was as stated in a beautiful location with a comfortable bed.nice amenities, a warm welcome from Elle and across the street a great place to swim in refreshing waters of the bay but you do have to wait for the tide to rise over some low spots. Getting in to town is easy as you can walk or take a taxi.
Elle filled us in on appropriate prices and leaves a book wit much information about the house and town including some numbers for several taxis.
There is also a charming and pleasant housekeeper named Jasmine who comes in on Fridays. She cleans the entire place beautifully and even offered to wash our clothes. She is a very nice woman and does a great job.
I enjoyed my stay and it is very private and quiet except for the birds who can be loud.
I would go back again and enjoy the island life. The local fresh market is very good for your fresh fruit and vegetables.
The food in town is excellent at The Surf and Turf and The Captains Table
We stayed at Elle's Coral Beach cottage for one month in July. We found it just as it was advertised to be.
It is a simple quaint cottage with no frills. For a longer stay, just what we wanted. If you are coming for a short stay & want 4 / 5 star luxury, this is not for you. The cottage has all the basic essentials. Self-contained, its position is handy to Savu Savu & is directly across the road from Savusavu bay. There is some dust and noise from the road, but no big deal. Elle is a delightful host, and we appreciated her kind hospitality.
Thanks Elle & see you in 2015.
Robbie & Dean
Internet is not reliable. The house is an older house, and there are holes in the mosquito netting (very important if you go during rainy season). We had dozens of bites. Ask Elle about the mosquito zappers- and be sure to buy replacement mats from town as the mats in the mosquito zappers should be replaced every day. Be prepared to share the space with small critters. Kitchen oven was very dirty (even Elle said she wouldn't use it), so ask for the portable oven if you plan to do your own cooking.
We stayed here for three weeks we loved it!!
This old charming wooden house was perfect for us while staying in Savusavu.
It's a quiet place with great views above Savusavu Bay. The place has a beautiful garden full of papaya, avocado, mangos trees, flowers etc...
The neighbors are very friendly and in the surroundings you can enjoy nice walks, swim and snorkeling in the ocean
Elle is an amazing person, great host, always helpful and taking care of everything.
We had great time with her and her friends in the village Plantation Club.
The house, the host and here friends, the Savusavu village spirit and soul - A true hidden paradise !!
Thank you very much Elle!
We had a wonderful time at Coral Beach House Savusavu. Elle
is very knowledgeable about Fiji and gave us an insider introduction to Savusavu. She makes a great tour guide. Her family lives in the fifth generation on the island. The home is beautifully located above a Coral Reef. It has old world charm. Savusavu is still a hidden paradise of Fiji. Thank you Elle!
