  • Marianna was a great host. Always nice and has solution regarding any matter I brought up. The room was big enough, and so was the kitchen. The only downside is that this house was really loud. I worked from 10 am to around 6 pm, and got home around 7:30-8 pm, and by then everyone is home, and by then there is a lot of loud talking and sometimes yelling. The internet was satisfactory. It was good for checking email however it would drop any (website hidden) or (website hidden) Voice calls after about 10 minutes, and watching any YouTube videos was beyond annoying.

    Response from Marianna:

Fasih did not bring his concerns about noise or internet to my attention. I will investigate the dropped calls situation on the DSL.

  • My partner and I had a truly enjoyable stay at Casa Grossman. Marianna was a warm and gracious hostess who was great company and became a friend during the course of our stay. The room was excellent, coming with a private bathroom with regular cleaning. The location was also excellent, being a ~30 minute bike ride away from Stanford, with shops and recreational facilities within walking distance. Marianna also purchased the bike I used during my stay for the use of future tenants (the area has excellent and extensive bike routes). I have no doubt that any prospective tenants would also have a similarly enjoyable stay, and are unlikely to find anything comparable at a similar price.

I am passionate about making the world a better place. I work for an organization that fosters collaboration and innovation for sustainability. Being a mother is a major source of joy in my life. I also enjoy travel, reading, hiking, cycling, dancing, singing, gardening and cooking. I wish I had more time for chamber music, specifically recorder. My colleagues and friends are from all continents. I love meeting new people and providing a warm, hospitable welcome. My style of hosting is casual and I expect my guests to be self-reliant. As a Bay Area native, I am glad to provide advice about hiking, site seeing and exploring the Palo Alto/Mountain View area, Berkeley and the East Bay, San Francisco and San Jose. If you have access to a car, you can reach mountains, beach, wine country or even Yosemite. You can borrow a bicycle, helmet and lock and enjoy a trip to the Baylands to see migrating birds. Or to ride over the high tech neighborhood where a famous search engine company and a financial software company are located. You can even bike to the movies or to a small lake where you can rent a paddle boat or sail boat or learn to windsurf. Current internet service levels: 13 ms latency to server; 2473 kb/s download, 414 kb/s upload speed. Works fine for (website hidden), viewing movies on line and file sharing.
