About This Listing
Our historic home is in the largest historic residential district in the US. We are 3 blocks from a wonderful main street with great shopping. Our town has many museums, parks and restaurants. This room has an adjustable air queen bed and private bath. The bathroom has original turn of the century fixtures and is very quaint. Bedrooms are located upstairs in the back wing of the house and are very private and quiet. The kitchen is very large (15 x 30) but cozy and is available for your use. We do have pets and are a nonsmoking household. Quiet walkable neighborhood. An amazing architecture walk with map guided tour. The Dark Horse brewery is a quick walk away as is Schulers 100 yr old restaurant. Ample parking. Bicycles available. Front porch with swing for two, screen porch when its dark (no mosquitoes}, heated pool, gazebo and perennial gardens for relaxing. We can't wait to share our home with you so expect a tour! We are LGBT friendly. ALL are welcome.
A pet is okay as long as a crate is available for it to stay in if you're out. Thank you
We also welcome long term guests and if you are considering that option know that you'll have a cupboard and space in the refrigerator. You may also use our laundry. All of our long term guests have had pets so know that's also fine with us.
Felt like staying right at home. We got in late, but they showed me our room. We were both too tired to do too much. But if we would have been less tired we would have walked around the area, and definitely would have gone swimming in their beautiful pool! I will be sure to keep this amazing place in mind if we are up that way in the future.
Michelle was super accommodating and flexible with my ever-changing plans. My stay was brief but very nice. The house and grounds are wonderful, located in a quiet neighborhood within an easy walk down to the main street of town. The room was really nice and super clean, and very private from the rest of the house, just as advertised. Had a nice chat in the evening with Michelle and her son about some local history - gotta have that while you stay in a historic home!
Next time I come back I definitely would like the tour and take some time to check out the grounds! Thanks for a nice visit.
This was the perfect place for us. We were looking for a quiet get-away from our busied lives and wonderful children. Without a doubt, we found it. The hosts - Michelle and Bob - were very welcoming and gracious. They made us feel comfortable and at home, but also gave us space enough (i.e. they didn't try to entertain or create extra conversation with us).
The accommodations are very nice, but also very simple. The small, quiet bedroom provided a peaceful space as we spent hours together reading and checking Facebook. A well-supplied Keurig machine was an added bonus. On Friday evening we walked to the Dark Horse Brewery. On Saturday morning, we walked downtown and to the summer farmer's market. We also enjoyed an hour-long walk along the river.
This was a wonderful place to stay and we highly recommend it.
Michelle and Bob's home was delightful and welcoming. They were very attentive and lovely hosts, and made fresh honey from their beehives! Very cool. Marshall is an adorable town, quiet and quaint. A wonderful retreat.
The Mees's are a kind, welcoming family and their home is both beautiful and very centrally located. We were surprised and delighted to find breakfast waiting for us in the morning -- a simple breakfast made luxurious by honey from the Mees's own bees!
Spectacular stay, once again. The room was wonderful and comfortable. Hope to come back again next time.
The worst part of staying here is leaving. After looking forward to our now-annual trip up to Marshall in December, we have both been most excited about staying with Michelle and Bob in their lovely, welcoming, and fantastic home, and dreading the leaving part that always occurs far too soon. Top notch all the way, as always, and we look forward to staying again next year!

About the Host, Michelle
We are a family with a college age son at home. Husband is an engineer and I am a Weight Watchers leader. Our passion is restoring our historic home and we'd love to share it with you. Our style of hosting is we want to know if there's anything you need or questions you might have and then we'll leave you be. 5 things I can't live without: sitting on the screened porch on summer nights, lunch with a friend, sunglasses/handbags, strong coffee and Luxe lipstick by Lancome. My favorite travel destination was Turkey. My next trip planned is to London.
