Description

The Space

Although its dimensions are tiny you'll be surprised by its spacious feel!

This custom-crafted tiny home has 10-foot ceilings and is complete with a dining space comfortable for 4, full kitchen, sitting area, closet with a toilet, and a loft bed with a huge skylight above.

(Access to the loft requires taking a 2-foot high step and may be difficult for individuals with physical limitations).

If you are considering building or purchasing a tiny house this is a great opportunity to experience one firsthand.

If you are not already familiar with the tiny house phenomenon the New Yorker and CNN both have excellent articles; there are a few tiny home documentaries as well.

Guest Access

The tiny house has a toilet tucked in the closet space and guests will have access to an enclosed outdoor shower (it is also shared by other tenants).

The tiny house has its own deck, but you're welcome to enjoy any corner of the yard, including the fire pit or front yard hammocks.

Interaction with Guests

Interaction with other tenants is up to you. Access to the tiny house takes you through the yard so you may interact with other tenants who are coming or going. Also, we have a huge, beautiful walnut tree full of hammocks-- a common summer hangout for everyone on the property. It is a great place to put out a blanket and interact with others, if you wish to do so.

The Neighborhood

The tiny house is located on a low-traffic street with friendly neighbors.
Some of Portland's best breweries, restaurants, parks, markets, and coffee shops are just a few blocks away in Dekum's Triangle or N. Williams. The Alberta Arts district and Mississippi St. are within a short bike ride too.

Getting Around

The house is an easy (25 minute) bike ride from downtown or 4 blocks from catching the #6 bus (which will take you directly downtown) or 8 blocks from the MAX yellow line. We also have two bikes you can use, if you'd like.
Freeway access is also convenient.

Other Things to Note

Please note there are a few unique factors to this property that might not work for everyone:

Access to the loft requires taking three large steps.
The shower is outdoors.
The toilet is in a 5 ft tall closet, underneath the loft.
The bed is a futon mattress. We like it, but some might find it too firm.
The yard is also shared with chickens.
The washer and dryer are in the main house.

Vibrant community, global awareness, and building positive relationships with everyone I meet are passions of mine and core to my being.

I get to share life with my beautiful wife Cassie. Together we enjoy outdoor adventures, trips abroad, and really exploration of any kind. She is a teacher at the International School.

I am a training coordinator with Carpe Diem Education. There I have the honor of preparing educators to take college age students on semester long trips all across the globe. Our goal is to facilitate experiences in which students learn about social equity, culture, and community.
