The space
Cub Crk Cabin is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. The Methow Valley is known for its beauty and outdoor recreational offerings. Cub Crk cabin is for the adventurous traveler. I have 17 very private acres that allow for complete relaxation and exploration. Hiking, mountain-biking, birding, skiing, snowshoeing and wildlife viewing is available right out the back door and throughout the entire valley.
The private cabin for rent has a loft bedroom and a small sitting area, laundry facilities and a private bathroom.
You will be the sole guests on the property. I live in a studio apartment on the property near by but am often gone due to my work schedule. If I am there, we may see each other in the cookhouse which is a separate, straw bale building 15 feet from your cabin. This is where you will find a full kitchen, available for your use. In the winter, this straw bale structure is heated with a wood stove so if you are not comfortable/proficient at building fires, this may not be the right place for you. All fire building supplies are included.
The cookhouse is where you can store your food - on pantry shelves and in fridge. You can cook at your leisure I just ask that meat be cooked outdoors on the grill. It is a wonderful space to hang out, listen to music, play games, to cook and enjoy a meal. There is also an in-tune piano if you are musical!

Cub Creek is a dog friendly place. Let me know right away in your request to book Cub Crk whether you plan to bring FIDO. I ask that you please only bring your pet if they do not bark and are trained to not jump on the furniture. Dogs are not allowed in the sleeping loft so please keep that in mind if you are used to having your dog on the bed with you. I ask this to respect my allergy-prone guests. Please bring a bed or kennel for your dog to sleep on on the main floor. Only one dog per reservation please. Thank you!

In the summer (June-Sept), there is an outdoor bed available- weather permitting. It is a double size Murphy bed that pulls down from the outer wall of your cabin. Its super comfy and WOW! its a star-gazer's paradise! It takes two people to lower the bed and to lift it to put it away so please don't try it on your own. Super heavy! Extra sheets are in the laundry cabinet.
Bring easy slip-on shoes to travel from one building to another and a headlamp for ventures away from the lighted buildings. The archway lights are on a timer that turns lights off at 10:30pm. Its going to be a great stay!

Guest access
This property is located 5 miles north of the town of Winthrop. There are art studios, an award-winning microbrew pub (Old Schoolhouse Brewery), The Rocking Horse Bakery, three well-equipped sports gear and rental shops and plenty of other places to browse.
You also have access to the entire North Cascade range and the Pasaytan Wilderness and if you ask me, that is the best part of all!

Other things to note
A fire extinguisher is located next to the woodstove in the cook house and next to the washing machine in the cabin's laundry room- no electric dryer as clothes dry quickly when hung. There are fire alarms in both the cabin and the cookhouse. There is also a CO2 detector in the loft bedroom. A First Aid kit is provided and stored in the drawer above washing machine.

Neighborhood highlights

There are no other houses within view of mine. It is a wonderful, private place. I have pine trees, tall grasses, sage, deer, chipmunks and birds for neighbors. Please do not travel through the open gate marked NO TRESPASSING at the end of my driveway. My human neighbor, 1/2 mile away, does not take kindly to disruptions.

My work: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and seamstress
Lives in Winthrop, Washington
I was born and raised in Portland, OR and, after college in Santa Barbara, moved back to the Pacific NW. I have lived in WA, both the west and east sides of the state, for the past 30 years. My favorite thing to do is to BE OUT SIDE. I moved to the Methow 22 years ago and worked for Outward Bound for a few seasons before becoming an RN. I am now a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. On the side, I have my own line of wool skirts and accessories made from up-cycled sweaters. I love to sew and create useful things out of otherwise not-so-useful things.
