Listing description was very accurate as to how the room looks and feels. Very cozy and nice. Rhonda and Doug were gracious from the start - helping me navigate from the freeway on the way in and showing me small kindnesses throughout. I would very much recommend staying with them! It felt as if I was just visiting a member of the family I haven't seen for awhile. Lovely folks.
Bed and bedding are comfortable. Lighting is particularly nice with lots of options. Good sized shower with good water pressure and great closet to use. No access to room from outside except through front door, but easy entrance from street and then down stairs to room. Nice, quiet neighborhood, but near everything you might need. Little fridge and coffee maker for mornings and it's great to hear the birds chirp in the back. Nice place! I'd definitely stay there again.
Rhonda and Doug went out of their ways to welcome us, to provide us with information and recommendations about Portland, and generally to make our visit as interesting and entertaining as possible. They are both fascinating people, and we enjoyed spending several evenings having long conversations on their back deck. The apartment is very quiet and comfortable, and Rhonda will provide anything necessary that is not already furnished. The location is a little over 10 minutes by freeway from downtown, but it feels like staying in the country. We truly enjoyed our 6-night stay and would consider staying with them again on another trip to Portland.
Eric and Catalina, we couldn't have had a better time getting to know you both, great conversations and feedback about your Portland area adventures and restaurants. Please come back any time and keep in touch, if you'd like, in the meantime. The minor suggestions were very good ones and are already in place! And remember, even if you have to sell a kidney, keep on traveling!
My friend and I stayed at Rhonda and Doug's for a week. When we arrived we were greeted by both of them and given tour of the down stairs area, which wonderfully decorated and stocked with little snacks. The croissants and orange juice were delicious. It was really hot while we were there but the downstairs area stayed nice and cool. Rhonda and Doug were incredibly thoughtful and kind during our stay. They offered us a lift if we needed to go somewhere nearby when we were car-less and gave us plenty of suggestions and tips for places to visit while we were there. The location is not walking friendly so if you plan on staying here, I would definitely recommend renting a car.
We received a friendly greeting from Rhonda when we arrived. The accommodations were spacious and comfortable, larger than a typical hotel room. Rhonda and Doug spent time giving us excellent travel tips on the area. Definitely, a wonderful place to stay that we highly recommend.
Rhonda and Doug were wonderful hosts, they immediately made us feel at home. The place is clean, spacious, serene and amazingly decorated. They both went above and beyond in giving us recommendations on things to do/places to visit in Portland. I've done airbnb multiple times and this by far was the best experience I've ever had.
Rhonda and Doug were very gracious and thoughtful hosts. We felt more like family during our stay and greatly appreciate their warmth and hospitality. Their room is spacious with walk-in closet and a large table which we took full advantage of to set up our laptops and turn into a comfortable and private temporary office. The room is in the basement level with a large window exposed to a beautiful wooded garden, so it stayed cool throughout the day. We strongly recommend them and look forward to staying with them again on our next trip to Portland.
Thank you Rhonda and Doug. Your efforts are well appreciated.=
We booked last minute with Rhonda and Doug and they were extremely accommodating. They gave us such great tips and were so hospitable. We loved our stay with Rhonda and Doig. They are so awesome!
About the Host, Rhonda And Doug
Rhonda is a residential designer, originally from Iowa. Doug is a freelance writer and hails from New York, NY. We both work from home.
Both of us landed here in Portland in the late 1980s, back when it was transitioning from a sleepy little logging town, so we've seen monumental changes, most of them pretty good. We're tuned into the restaurant and performing arts scenes, so we're happy to give our guests recommendations and advice.
