Dan was a great host and the garden was awesome. The house was clean, comfortable, and close to a lot of great spots in south Austin!
The garden cottage is a fantastic place with an awesome host! Dan helped us the second we had even a minor issue and made us feel very welcome. It is situated close enough to the Austin action that getting around from our "Home base" was a breeze. Some of our favorite time was just spent hanging out in Dan's incredible gardens. Would definitely visit sgain snd recommend to friends.
Dan was great. He let us book last minute when our flight got canceled and let us borrow his bikes. Thanks for having us!
Dan's place was fantastic. The gardens were a relaxing respite which we enjoyed with a cold Lone Star in hand. The living space had everything we needed and the futon was surprisingly comfortable! Would gladly come back!
Staying at Dan's typified all that is great about Airbnb: a welcoming, generous, informative host Dan went out of his way to give us a great time with his knowledge of the city and music venues in particular. After travelling for a few months the little apartment and lovely garden was perfect to relax in. It was great to be able to walk or take a bus to the SoCo area or city centre and beyond. There are three bus routes that pass near by. We also appreciated the fruit, coffee etc provided, the fridge and coffee maker. A very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Highly recommended. Thanks for everything Dan!
Dan was an excellent host and the cottage was an absolutely beautiful place to stay. The neighborhood is quiet but walking distance or a couple minute drive to shops, food, etc. and Dan's garden is truly a work of art.
would love to stay here again!
About the Host, Dan
I enjoy music, photography, travel, cactus/succulents, fishing/boating, the Oaxacan Pacific coast and meeting interesting people. I have followed Austin's music scene since the 70's Armadillo World Headquarters days. I especially enjoy all the Texas singer/songwriters who put Austin on the musical map. Also, I love New Orleans music which has a deep, rich history and a sound that transcends me in time. My interests cover from Buddy Holly to Buddy Bolden, from Townes to Dr John, and Shinyribs to Trombone Shorty. My musical tastes cover rock, country, R & B, reggae, blues, jazz, conjunto/Tex Mex, Mexican, African, Cuban, Latin, Big Band, and classical. I own and operate the South First Food Court which is in a unique area peppered with many mostly local Austin independent businesses, coffee shops, restaurants, and music stories. Torchy's Tacos, Summermoon coffee shop, are just a short walk down the hill to S. 1st from my home. I am very close to SoCo, S. Lamar, Zilker Park, and Downtown.
I have had very satisfied airbnb guests from all over the world, all ages, different backgrounds and cultures who enjoy a clean, moderately priced, private stay in a very beautiful and peaceful backyard in a quiet neighborhood which is close to many of Austin's choice spots.
I enjoy working with plants......cactus, succulents, bromeliads especially. I have been creating cactus bowls that pass on a humorous, satirical, political, poke in the eye. I use found objects, kid's unwanted, broken, exhausted or abandoned toys, Mexican chotzkies, etc. My backyard reflects many of my passions about plants .
Check out Evangeline's , Broken Spoke, Saxon Pub, Continental Club, Green Pastures, the East Austin scene, Rainey St., Ski Shores, cruise Lake Austin in a boat, Pace Bend Park, the Hill Country, Gruene Hall, Lockhart BBQ, Rubys BBQ, Sandy's Burgers, swim Barton Springs, hit the Botanical garden, and check out the Austin Chronicle as well as all the new trendy bars/ restaurants....
