  • My husband and I have enjoyed staying at Dan's multiple times now, our favorite Austin Airbnb spot! You can't beat the location for great food and fun things to do, very close to Barton Springs! Dan is a wonderful host and great communicator. We look forward to our next visit!

  • My visit to Austin was great! Dan is a great host, very flexible and accommodating. Dan's cottage definitely has my recommendation.

  • Dan was a generous host! He was very open to sharing about Austin and gave me plenty of recommendations for good eats, fun activities, and stellar music! His cottage was a perfect getaway with the privacy and quietness I needed! Dan had the AC on when I arrived, so the cottage was a cool relief from the Texas heat. During my stay, Dan was available for questions, but never once imposed on my privacy. He had his bicycle fixed so I could use it to get around!! His garden is a nice little oasis away from the chaos! Dan, thanks again! I hope to see you again!

  • My experience at Dan's cottage was great! Dan was very accommodating and communicated quickly and clearly from the time i reserved my stay til the time I left. I enjoyed my stay from the beginning--I was pleasantly surprised when I drove up to see that Dan's entire front and back yard is full of beautiful plants, including lots of tropical varieties that made it feel like a mini botanic garden park! At night he has the garden lit up with some small spotlights (none too glaring to overwhelm or that the blinds couldn't block out at night) and other festive string lights that make it so that even when I was coming in late at night it was pretty and fun as well as easy to navigate to the cottage. The cottage itself was very cosy and set up all ready for me, including bottles of water cooled in the fridge, towels and blankets ready for me to use, and handy directions for use of different items in the room as well as a notebook with some suggestions and travel directions to nearby popular cafe's and restaurant. Next time i'm in South Austin I will see if the cottage is available again!

  • All went as expected with this great little base for exploring Austin. It is basic accommodations, but all you need if you are looking for a deal, and the garden/koi pond is lovely. Dan was a great host - kept in touch to say we could check in early, check out late, etc.

  • Drove to Austin on a whim and found Dan's place on airbnb. It is a relaxed garden cottage with a bamboo forest and fish pond! Definitely recommended .

  • I chose Dan as my first Airbnb host after reading the great reviews on his profile - and was glad I did. We had a billing issue with Airbnb that Dan handled very professionally. My girlfriend and I felt very at home here. The koi pond in his backyard is a great spot to unwind after a day of checking out the city. Looking forward to staying here again next time I'm in Austin!

I enjoy music, photography, travel, cactus/succulents, fishing/boating, the Oaxacan Pacific coast and meeting interesting people. I have followed Austin's music scene since the 70's Armadillo World Headquarters days. I especially enjoy all the Texas singer/songwriters who put Austin on the musical map. Also, I love New Orleans music which has a deep, rich history and a sound that transcends me in time. My interests cover from Buddy Holly to Buddy Bolden, from Townes to Dr John, and Shinyribs to Trombone Shorty. My musical tastes cover rock, country, R & B, reggae, blues, jazz, conjunto/Tex Mex, Mexican, African, Cuban, Latin, Big Band, and classical. I own and operate the South First Food Court which is in a unique area peppered with many mostly local Austin independent businesses, coffee shops, restaurants, and music stories. Torchy's Tacos, Summermoon coffee shop, are just a short walk down the hill to S. 1st from my home. I am very close to SoCo, S. Lamar, Zilker Park, and Downtown. I have had very satisfied airbnb guests from all over the world, all ages, different backgrounds and cultures who enjoy a clean, moderately priced, private stay in a very beautiful and peaceful backyard in a quiet neighborhood which is close to many of Austin's choice spots. I enjoy working with plants......cactus, succulents, bromeliads especially. I have been creating cactus bowls that pass on a humorous, satirical, political, poke in the eye. I use found objects, kid's unwanted, broken, exhausted or abandoned toys, Mexican chotzkies, etc. My backyard reflects many of my passions about plants . Check out Evangeline's , Broken Spoke, Saxon Pub, Continental Club, Green Pastures, the East Austin scene, Rainey St., Ski Shores, cruise Lake Austin in a boat, Pace Bend Park, the Hill Country, Gruene Hall, Lockhart BBQ, Rubys BBQ, Sandy's Burgers, swim Barton Springs, hit the Botanical garden, and check out the Austin Chronicle as well as all the new trendy bars/ restaurants....
