I am well aware of the music history, the changes to town since the 70's, the hill country, and many interesting Austin options......
I am looking for a respectful renter who is appreciative that I am opening up my personal space. NO PETS ALLOWED. Room cools very
quickly upon your return after being away for hours of extended time away from cottage.
Stellar studio for a weekend getaway! My best friend and I spent most of our time exploring Austin, and happily retreated to this garden oasis. Futon was comfy, plenty of linens, and ample street parking in a safe neighborhood. Close proximity to South Congress and Downtown Austin (5 minute drive, if that). We didn't walk because of the frigid weather, but took an uber to 6th street for $10.
Thanks Dan for your hospitality, and for the h2o in the fridge! Cheers!
The little cottage was cozy and private, just what I was looking for. Everything was neat and comfortable. Thank you very much!
My husband and I had a great time in Austin staying at Dan's apartment. The property was really unique and fun to explore, just like the neighborhood it's in. Dan was out of town during our visit, but his friend Stan made us feel very welcome. Thanks to both of you!
Thanks for opening your cottage to us. It was exactly what we needed during our vacay! It was a great location within walking distances to many places (be in mind I'm cool with walking a mile or more to get to places) bus stations were near by; however, I found the bus system to not be reliable. Dan ended up being busy that weekend but his friend Stan stepped in and was there to help when needed and quickly responded to any questions/concerns.
We rolled into this cool little spot after a week in Big Bend. After an 8 our drive, this is a perfect oasis. Dan's backyard is worth the price of admission. This place is great and close to quite a bit of what Austin has to offer.
Dan was fantastic arranging our stay, even while out of the country! Fantastic little bungalow with a totally "austin" vibe. 10/10 will stay again.
We have always wanted to visit Austin and sought out a perfect location within the city. Luckily, we ran across Dan's perfect cottage. Its location made our stay very pleasant and convenient.
Dan's cottage was very serene and beautiful. We had long grueling days and returning to his cottage gave us a rest we doubt we could find elsewhere. We enjoyed the refreshments and amenities he offered in his cottage. Around the cottage, we enjoyed the greenhouse and pond that Dan has taken care of throughout the years.
Almost all of Austin's famous food establishments are less than 10 minutes away if you have a car. There are also a multitude of dining options if you would like to walk.
I enjoy music, photography, travel, cactus/succulents, fishing/boating, the Oaxacan Pacific coast and meeting interesting people. I have followed Austin's music scene since the 70's Armadillo World Headquarters days. I especially enjoy all the Texas singer/songwriters who put Austin on the musical map. Also, I love New Orleans music which has a deep, rich history and a sound that transcends me in time. My interests cover from Buddy Holly to Buddy Bolden, from Townes to Dr John, and Shinyribs to Trombone Shorty. My musical tastes cover rock, country, R & B, reggae, blues, jazz, conjunto/Tex Mex, Mexican, African, Cuban, Latin, Big Band, and classical. I own and operate the South First Food Court which is in a unique area peppered with many mostly local Austin independent businesses, coffee shops, restaurants, and music stories. Torchy's Tacos, Summermoon coffee shop, are just a short walk down the hill to S. 1st from my home. I am very close to SoCo, S. Lamar, Zilker Park, and Downtown.
I have had very satisfied airbnb guests from all over the world, all ages, different backgrounds and cultures who enjoy a clean, moderately priced, private stay in a very beautiful and peaceful backyard in a quiet neighborhood which is close to many of Austin's choice spots.
I enjoy working with plants......cactus, succulents, bromeliads especially. I have been creating cactus bowls that pass on a humorous, satirical, political, poke in the eye. I use found objects, kid's unwanted, broken, exhausted or abandoned toys, Mexican chotzkies, etc. My backyard reflects many of my passions about plants .
