We arrived quite late at night so we had Frank waiting for us till almost midnight. However, Frank was really nice! The room looks just like the photo, and it's got a great view of Puxi. Although I have to say the blankets were somehow a bit damp, but it had to do with the plum rain season in Shanghai as well. The stay was short but pleasant with Frank.
Great Location but not very easy to find.
Just a few minutes to the Bund or the Nanjing road. Apartment was dirty. There is a cleaning Service but it seems like they only change the towels.
Our stay at the apartment was pretty alright: It was very spacious, and it met our basic needs, with a kettle for boiling water, toiletries and clean towels provided daily. The location of the apartment was also fantastic. It was within walking distance to the Bund and was easily accessible to all the main places in the city centre - the taxi fares rarely went beyond 30RMB.
We did not get to meet our host, Frank, till the day we were checking out. Before our arrival, Frank did not respond to our messages sent via airbnb and email. He did, however, respond when we sent him an SMS via mobile-phone though he only provided minimal information to our enquiry (we were enquiring about where we could get cheap SIM cards for our mobile-phones when we arrived in Shanghai).
Little information was also provided on finding the place, so we had some trouble locating the place while having to lug our heavy luggage around. Frank also had not replied to our SMS asking him for the password to the backdoor, where we were stuck for quite some time with all our luggage, until a good Samaritan eventually helped us get in. It later turned out that Frank and I had trouble receiving each other's SMS-es/calls due to the poor network coverage. As a result of the poor phone connection, we were also stranded for quite a long while (with all our luggage) as Frank was not at the room he had said he would be. We ended up having to ask around for help (to no avail) until we were finally able to put a call through to him, during which he informed us that he had actually already sent us an SMS earlier that day (which we did not receive) to collect the key from someone else at another room as he had stepped out.
All in all, I feel that our stay at the apartment itself was rather pleasant because of its spaciousness, functionality and good location. However, we would perhaps have appreciated it better if the host had been slightly more helpful and if he had perhaps not simply assumed that his guests would definitely be contactable via their mobile-phones especially if they are travellers from overseas. A suggestion would be for any arrangements to be made/information to be given prior, perhaps while the guests are still in their home country where they may have better access to electronic communications so as to avoid such situations of the guests ending up being stranded/lost.
Me and my friends were completely disappointed with this apartment.
First - we get absolutely another room with 2 small double beds based on one floor (no loft), no kitchen. Linen is crumpled. Just a very simple room. By the way its just a hotel.
When we asked why Frank give us this room we got answered that there is something with hot water there. We said ok, we do not need water, can we take apartments from the photos? Just said its full now and offered to return money in cash. So... We're tired, coming from airport, 20 min walking from recommended subway station East Nanjing road, evening. And we just got an offer to get refund and go to look somewhere for something else.
Frank's Appartement is well located close to The Bund and suprises with a stunning view. Nearby you'll find convenience stores, grocery stores and a few small and nice restaurant. 2 Subway Stations are within 15-20 Minute walking distance which is a bit annoying since the city so big and well connected with the subway.
Although the Appartement has good potential it is a bit "out of shape". Especially the Bathroom and the Kitchen Area were in very bad condition and dirty. A few spots on the wall are covered with mildew. The carpet on the 1st floor Bed had a very bad smell. Also the water wasn't working for two days which Frank told us for the first but not the second day.
After we told our concerns Frank send his cleaning staff to take care of the kitchen and bathroom. Also he offered us to move into another Appartement which was just renovated.
The Appartement is very well located (very close of The Bund and in front of Pudong). A very beautifull view on the skyscrapers of ShangaÏ.
The appartement is wide and very comfortable for 4 persons. Cleaned every day, towels changed every day. Excellent Wifi. The kitchen is quite old and have to be renewed.
The building is secured 24h a day and situated in a very tipical and really chinese place
Frank was present very quickly after a phone call, and there is a room attendent from 10am to 10 pm
Well, what can I say? Place is not a palace but it was just perfect what I needed! Very well located just 10 minutes walk to the "river walk" and commercial area. Clean and comfortable. If you have a tight budget but you are looking for a comfortable place and very well located this is the place.
Frank is very nice and he can really help you to understand the complicated Shanghai.
The apartment was as described. Frank was a great help, even walking to the shop with me to buy a China Sim card. Great location to explore both the Bund and downtown and still get a taste of old Shanghai. Ate out on Zhapu Road regularly.
Place was very comfortable and easy to get to the Bund. Frank was very nice and check in was easy even though I missed my flight and had to make alternative arrangements. Thanks Frank!
The apartment was very nice, all the comforts of home it a hotel without the price. Frank was very nice and made check in and out very easy.
