If you come to Tunis, and want to experience the genuine atmosphere of the Medina, you are welcome in our home.
We are a family of three, with a 19 month old baby girl, and we are living in a beautiful Old Arab Home, from 19th century.. We have up to three rooms available to host you and your friends/family. All the rooms are set around the traditional "patio", the house's vital core.
The main room, richly decorated, can welcome up to 4 people, with 2 separate beds and one alcove for 2 people, with a bathroom and a sitting corner. This room is available at 60e/night/person or 75e/night/the whole room.
The smaller room is very simple, white and peaceful, with a double matress on the floor for two persons - we can offer it at 30e/night/person.
A 10 minute walk will bring you to the best city restaurant, Dar El Jeld. But if you prefer popular and cheaper food you can also find it on the other direction, at Bab Souika.
We are very close to Dar Lasrem Palace (2 min walk), the Kasbah (10 min walk), Jamaa Zitouna, the souks etc. ,and 20 min walk to Avenue Bourguiba. You can also take a cab to visit Le Bardo Museum, or walk through the famous village of Sidi Bou Saïd, or to La Marsa Beach, both 20 min by car. If you prefer fresh fish, go to La Goulette!
I'm sure you will enjoy discovering the city by foot, and coming home to the tranquility of a peaceful evening. It is a special experience to live in the Tunis Medina, which is both lively and peaceful.
Stunningly beautiful house. Lovely hosts.
Staying at Taieb's place was a perfect choice for our trip to Tunisia. It made the experience so rich, real, and fun. It was a treat to be able to live in such a gorgeous home with a kind and caring host. We are a family of four from New York, and we were all super comfortable and slept well every night. The house is actually quieter that you might imagine.
We would highly recommend this beautiful home without hesitation to anyone traveling to Tunis.
I really enjoyed my stay at Taieb's place. It is a really neat house in the old part of Tunis. It provides a special experience that you wouldn't usually find when staying in a place like Tunis.
Taieb and his friends were great hosts, always willing to help and great to talk to.
I would stay here again in the future
Great atmosphere and location in the Medina. Hosts are very friendly and flexible. Views from the rooftop are superb. If visiting outside summer season the room can be a bit chilly, but blankets are available. Enjoy!
We were very happy to have had the opportunity to stay in Taieb and Rami's beautiful home. They are very generous and kind hosts, and it was great to meet their lovely friends.
Taieb is a great host! You cannot beat his hospitality and kindness. He, his fiancee Samar and friends are very interesting and smart people, who are are happy to share their insights into Tunisian society and politics with you. The house is located very centrally in a quiet side street of the Medina and hence, you can explore Tunis by foot. I would definitely stay with Taieb again.
We spent a few nights with Taieb and co at the start of our week-long trip to Tunisia. Their home is traditional and basic - don't expect anything too flashy - in return you'll experience Tunis life inside the Medina. Their home is close to a gentrified area of the medina where you'll find a handful of restaurants and cafes. Taieb and Rami even showed us around Tunis and helped us find a local market to stock up on spices, and Samar and other friends joined us on the final evening to eat together. We learnt a lot about Tunisia which set us up for our week ahead.
Taieb, Samar & Rami are wonderful. They do everything to make you feel welcome and they are able to provide you with an elephant, if needed. I felt like with old good friends, the house is great as well.
We traveled as a couple with Tunis as the first stop on a week-long journey through Tunisia. The location as described as "in the heart of the Medina" was as true as could be - we were steps away from the great mosques and main attractions. The hosts were very engaging, polite, and shared fascinating insights of Tunisia's culture and political evolution over a delicious meal at a local restaurant. We would love to return!!
