This place is ok. I had trouble finding it or trying to describe it to cab drivers. So make sure you get the hotel to pick you up from the airport. Also take a hotel card and don't lose it. Super cheap and close to everything you need. The place is rough though, the beds are super hard and the toilets are the squatting kind. The front desk guy was kinda mean, never smiled. Also he kept telling me the place booked and eventually I convinced him that had already booked the place. So he let me in.
There was free WI-FI but for me it only worked at the entrance of the hotel. the noise is ungodly! all the honking drove me crazy. The rooms have a super huge ceiling fan which helps to cool you down. The windows don't close, so you'll have to sleep early, as the honking starts around 6am.
The pictures posted here are not what you'll be seeing when you get there. The room was rough but clean. The help was also very nice and they carried my luggage for me which was nice.
Remember you get what you pay for!
I guess the price shuold say what the experience will be like but to set expectations right I thought I would note down the following:
-Jitin did communicate well with me giving the address of the hotel.
-very close to the central train station, location is amazing
cons- BED BUG ALERT! When i woke up in the middle of the night, 30-40 bed bugs were feeding on me. I have a bedbug proof case so i was probably ok. but please do NOT STAY if you do not have such a case, you will only spread the infection to others.
-The other guests helped me much more than the person who worked there.
-i had to insiste on having bedding and to have my passport back before i went to sleep as i was leaving early next morning.
-i left with an early train and the angry dog at the entrance who barked incessently made it hard for me to leave; i couldn't get past it easily
-as others have pointed out, the picture is grossly misleading, it is much more like a prison cell in some godforsaken place.
After the reviews i read on airbnb i knew what i have to expect. I was prepaired...like that and if you really only look for a cheap room without any special wishes, it's ok. They also helped me around my questions to mumbai...
As mentioned in other reviews, the location is the best draw of this hostel. Located blocks away from CST and in walking distance of almost all major attractions in south mumbai. Me and my friend were not expecting much for a 12$ room and we feel we got what we paid and prepared for. Jitin is nice and was very helpful throughout our stay. My only complaints are as follows:1. I don't see how it is humanly possible for the mattresses to be as hard as they were at this hotel. The births in sleeper class are 10X more comfortable. 2. Not sure if both dogs belonged to the hostel, but it was very saddening and discomforting to see two big dogs locked up or chained up for my whole stay. I understand that this is probably a cultural difference, but it will definitely affect my decision on whether or not to stay there again or search for similarly priced options in mumbai.
I have been through your review and I can say for the mattresses we are working on it and soon it will change, for dogs I also agree that this place is not meant for them ,but I cant do anything it belongs to my uncle who are co owner of this property, but I have mention at Airbnb that this property also have pet dog.
Good luck to you .
I stayed there for a day, it was pleasant experience. Location was major advantage as I had been to there for Mumbai marathon participation.
Will love to visit again.
Thank you, jitin Shrivastava.
While Jitin is a kind and attentive host, the room photos posted here are completely misleading. The rooms are dark and dingy, the walls are crackling, and I honestly felt like I was in a prison. I left without even staying a single night. I am aware Mumbai is an expensive city but Salvation Army and India Guest House in Colaba have similar prices and better accommodations.
It is also important to note that the shared bathrooms did not have western toilets (which is more a matter of preference but still should have been stated).
I have offers you room which is shown at airbnb and also the other room in which you stayed which have more ventilation and you have chosen that room,As far as darkness is concern we are not living in stone ages ,you need to switch on light and every room is equipped with proper light arrangements 24 hr back up also.
The Guest house you are recommending are not 12$ ,they cost at least 25$ a night.
Yes we don`t have western toilets in communal bathroom but our 32$ room have western toilets and I am going to make it clear on room page also.
If you are looking for inexpensive accommodation near the wonderful City Center , this is a good option. This apartment is in a great location; only 1 minute walk to the first nice monuments and nice areas (Train Station; one the most ancient and used in Asia).
The apartment is in a perfect location. There were many restaurants and stores next door,
It is a good, clean and inexpensive option. With INTERNET WIFI.
Jitin is a nice and helpful landlord who gave us many tips and even offered us his support for train and bus reservations.
We had a good communication by email and telephone. Jittin has been very comprehensivei...We arrived in Delhi Airport at 2AM... 1 hours after in the Hotel...
Thanks a lot, I fully recommend this place.
