House Rules

Rule #1: Let's all remain calm. If something is amiss, please let me know.

Rule #2: Please don't smoke in the guest house. There is an awesome deck above you where you are welcome to ignite and inhale.

Rule #3: there is no rule #3.

Rule #4: No Pets. Well, MAYBE a dog, but we'd have to talk about it. Also, Wallace, my dog, has the run of the property. He is the sweetest creature, best dog ever. It's possible he might bark at you, but hey, it's his job. Generally he'll be in the house when you're coming and going.

Rule #5: I'll give you a key so you can lock up while you're away. I ask that you respect the private areas of the property.

Rule #6: Please, no parties or behavior that would make one of our neighbors want to call the police.

Rule #7: Be cool with the innerwebs. No illegal downloading/abuse of internet privileges.

Rule #8: towel hooks on the bathroom door - - use 'em.

Rule #9: If I think of other rules, I'll add them. Meantime, please let me know what I can do to make your stay more enjoyable.

We just returned from a wonderful weekend in Austin! The Burrow was perfect for what we were looking for-a clean, comfortable, unique space that was in a location where we could walk to local shops and restaurants. Marcus was a fantastic host and made several great neighborhood recommendations that we took him up on. It was a special weekend for us as we got engaged Saturday morning at a spot overlooking the 360 bridge! Lots of great memories from this weekend and the Burrow will always be a part of them:-) Thanks Marcus and Gayle! -Missy and Josh

Response from Marcus:
James put the following in my private feedback. Figured it was worth publishing publicly: "My wife and I have stayed with Marcus previously so of course it was 'as expected.' This is my favorite Airbnb. Feels like a home away from home. Thank you Marcus for another relaxing stay.” Thank you, James, we'll keep the place ready for your return!

Marcus and Gayle have been great hosts. Proactive in their communication priori to my arrival, very reactive when I reached out to them with questions. Their air b n b is lovely, I would strongly recommend anyone to stay at their place should they want a place close to DT in a residential area of Austin. Thank you Marcus and Gayle, will definitely reach out next time I am in town to help you keep Austin weird ;)

Marcus is a pro at hosting - he offers super service and is super thoughtful. The architecture is fun and whimsical, yet very functioning, the space comfortable and had everything I could think of someone might need. We especially enjoyed making our coffee and having it up in the fort where you can see and hear the many types of birds and watch the squirrels. The various bird calls in the mornings were a great way to wake up and the outdoor shower was a real treat. The ambiance of the property was perfect for us and the neighborhood is also fabulous. It is a nice walk to so many great shops for food, coffee, a great grocery store, and just cool places to visit. We even spontaneously stopped in at the Tibetan Temple and was warmly invited in. My only regret is not having more time there - the three nights were not enough time to do all the things that we wanted to nor hang out with Marcus and Gayle enough. I will definitely try to stay their again.

I like Ben Franklin's quote about beer — it's proof that "God loves us and wants us to be happy," (define God in that sentence in what ever way makes you most comfortable). Sharing the city of Austin is one of my favorite things about being a host. I like to treat my Airbnb guests the way I'd treat friends or family. My roots are southern, but I am not a Texan. I consider myself a resident of the enlightened city-state of Austin and the planet Earth, and am at home generally in any college town. I think the Beatles were right, love is all you need. Dogs rule, cats make me sneeze. I put this fortune cookie fortune on my bulletin board: "Friends are more valuable than money."
