We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this historic, charming house. Situated up steep, narrow lanes from the centre of Le Pouget, the property provides peace, beautiful views and all the amenities you could need for a holiday in this region. Property manager Bill is very helpful and lovely - and the restaurant in Le Pouget does excellent, simple French food. Those with access issues should note there are a lot of stairs within the property, some restricted height ceilings and parking is not adjacent... All things you would expect from a house of this age. I would happily return to this property and another glass of wine on the spectacular roof terrace!

We adored this little gem set up high in a quaint little French village ( once you get used to the sound of the bells- it add a to the atmosphere). The character of the property is amazing especially the stone staircase and the view of the church from The kitchen and the terrace is such a relaxing little retreat. We were so sad to leave. The local Pizza takeaway was brilliant and we enjoyed sitting out on the bench in the center of the village with our pizza and a glass of rose from the local bar while the kids played in the square. We discovered the canal in Canet and the kids had a great time cooling down. Thank you olive so much for sharing your little gem with us. We hope to return. Sarah and Conall

This typical southern village house is very nice and the rooftop's view is amazing. Olive is very kind and reactive. The reception by Bill is fun and helpful. This spot is perfect for visiting south of France or just to do some oenotourism in the region

Family stayed here for a week in August 2015. Unfortunately, we were initially disappointed with the accommodation. It does match the description, being rustic and full of character. However, we felt that it was in need of modernising, especially the bathrooms. Plus, there was a musty smell on our arrival and the loud hourly and half-hourly bells of the close cathedral that continued throughout the night were a real nightmare. However, leaving the windows open for a day or two and the smell dispersed. The bells we got used to, and the bathrooms were basic but functional. The village was charming but we tended to travel each day to nearby sightseeing and activity areas. This involved a lot of driving. The owner and the property manager were both friendly and efficient. Shame the property was a bit of a let down, and the bells don't stop in the night.

Response from Olive:
Sean I'm sorry that you felt disappointed with your stay at Cloche-Piochet. With houses that are many centuries old it can be a balancing act between keeping its old world character and providing the modern comforts that we are used to. We love the rustic nature of the house and hope that it will be enjoyed by guests who decide to stay there. My apologies about the mustiness of the downstairs bedroom, massive rains and flooding last year caused a leak which we had thought was repaired until the recent rains. My husband and I are heading to the house this week and will ensure that our repairman is able to get to the bottom of the problem! The bells we cannot do anything about I'm afraid - we love them as part of the south of France village experience but realise not all will share our view. Thanks for your feedback Sean, it's much appreciated and all the best for you and your families future travels.

The gentleman who greeted us was exactly on time and helpful. Also, importantly Olive had been very responsive with questions before we went to Le Pouget.

Don't know about you but I love travelling and staying in places long enough to get to know them, the people and the way of life, not to mention the food & wine. Started travelling to France over 20 years ago with family and friends and fell in love with it, then decided to buy a village house so that we would have an excuse to keep going back. We didn't realise when we thought to rent to holiday makers that it would also allow us to live other's holidays vicariously by helping them to plan their trip, giving advice about sightseeing, places to eat, markets, villages to visit and picnics to have. We love our little patch of France and sincerely hope that everyone who stays at Cloche-Piochet loves it as much as we do.
