You'll have a very spacious apartment on first floor with plenty of room for a family meal, or to decompress after traveling and site seeing.
I live in the apartment upstairs so I am truly hosting you in my own home, but you get the entire downstairs unit all to yourself.
Two bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment in the Tower Grove area. One block from the Missouri Botanical Garden, a couple blocks from Tower Grove Park, and only a 10 minute drive to downtown St Louis.
The South Grand area is about a 15 minute walk away, and there you can find restaurants, bars and an international grocery store.
The apartment has wireless internet, a washer/drier in the basement, full kitchen. You will have the 1st floor apartment in a 2 unit home, and I live upstairs so anything you need that's not downstairs I am happy to loan out.
There are 2 queen beds in the apartment. I also have a Queen sized pull out couch and a queen air mattress that is available to loan out, and a large couch that can easily sleep 1. The # accomodated is just my standard maximum number, but comfortably it can sleep 4 couples (with the air bed).
The apartment also has a TV that is hooked up to a computer. While there is not cable, you are able to use the computer to watch shows/movies through hulu, netflix etc.
Check in/check out times are 4PM check-in and 11 AM checkout. The times given are the times that I would need if I were to have someone else coming in/leaving that day, but they are definitely flexible. As it gets closer to your reservation, we can discuss different check in/out times.
FYI I have a dog who spends time in the backyard but if you are not a dog person, I can leave him in the house during your stay.
A spacious, full kitchen. A dinning room with a table that is set up for four but can be stretched to accommodate eight. A comfy living room.
Interaction with Guests
I have worked as a concierge, and currently bar-tend in a hotel. I understand the city very well, and your wanting to go explore it. I love people (It is why I Airbnb) I am very available to you, but essentially you won't likely bump into me at all unless it is expressed. My downstairs apartment is all yours while you are here.
I come from a large family and live alone, so I love having some life downstairs, feel free to make some noise!
Contrarily I am very quiet and an avid reader, I've left plenty of old books downstairs. Feel free to take one.
The neighborhood is quiet, and full of beautiful old houses. It is great for walking to many coffee shops, wine bars, and ethnic restaurants. The neighborhood is bordered on one side by a large park, and on the other by the Missouri Botanical Gardens
Other Things to Note
There are also plenty of extra linens, towels, blankets and pillows in the hall closet.
Please, simply: Leave the place better or the same as you found it. Keeping in mind the guest following you, and their arrival time. Thanks
This is a non-smoking home
Chris was great to work with. He responded very quickly and was never hard to get a hold of. The house itself is okay. It's vintage, which has a charming appeal. That being said--the furnishings were a bit dated and the house wasn't the cleanest (hence my one star deduction). There were ants in the kitchen and some general messiness (granted, I am a clean freak--no one else in my party was bothered by it). The location is great--everything is within a 20 minute drive. Overall great experience.
We had a great time at Chris's place! We were two couples there to explore St. Louis and this location was really good for that - quiet neighborhood, easy parking and not far from the sights. Chris was flexible and easy to work with, would definitely stay here again if we're back in St. Louis.
Our host was extremely responsive, from the reservation to the text I sent when I thought I left my wedding ring at his place! He let me know the place was ready a few hours early and was there to help almost immediately when we had a problem accessing Netflix. I think the pictures accurately represent his place. It is an older house that has been lived in but things are in working order and clean. Plenty of space to eat as a group, play games (he has several) or blow up the air mattress and watch TV (which my kids did every night). Lots of towels, blankets, and access to the washer/dryer if needed (we didn't). I enjoyed having a bedroom to retreat to so I could read while they watched TV. I did hear Chris and his dog for a little bit each night, but I don't think it was ever after 11 and not more than 30 minutes. Never heard the dog bark or anything from upstairs that woke me from my sleep. Great location, we walked to the Botanical Garden and had a fun time there. Lots of foot traffic in the area, which appeared very diverse. Thanks again, Chris.
This place was perfect in every way for our group. We had six people and a baby staying here without any problems. It is very close to a park which was nice to be able to go on walks through. Chris had numerous recommendations for places to eat and see. We went to many of his recommendations and they were all worth it. He is very easy to get a hold of if you have any questions. We would recommend chris and his house to anyone who is going to be staying in St Louis.
Chris has thought of everything. There was a nice welcome message left for us when we arrived, along with 3 laminated info sheets listing out places to see, eat, etc. along with instructions for most everything you'd need to do while in the house. Chris also left complimentary passes to the Botanical Gardens, but sadly we didn't have enough time to make it over there.
The apartment itself is nice and cozy and sits on a relatively quiet street in a very cool neighborhood less than 5 minutes away from Tower Grove Park and the Botanical Gardens. It's so conveniently located to things that it was never more than a 15-20 minute drive to get where we wanted to go. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook meals which was really nice. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of towels for us to use. The beds were soft and comfortable with each room having a ceiling fan to keep things nice and comfortable. We worried about where our toddler would sleep, but the spare bedroom's bed was not very high off the ground and was against the wall which was perfect and he slept like a champ!
Parking was never an issue and the area was very calm at night. Chris lives upstairs and works evenings, so there were a couple of nights when we heard him come home and could hear him moving around. After a few minutes, things got quiet and you would never know he was there. It wasn't a negative at all, but if you're used to living in a single-family home in the suburbs, this "noise" (if you can call it that) might awake you if you're a light sleeper.
We had a great time in St. Louis that was made even better by being able to stay here. We'll definitely consider staying at Chris' place again!
What a beautiful home in a great neighborhood!! Chris was responsive and helpful after we confirmed and during our stay. There were 6 adults in our party who stayed very comfortably here. We were close to all of our planned events and really enjoyed our time at "home" together cooking, playing games, and watching movies. I would definitely recommend this space and Chris as a host for anyone visiting St Louis!
