Die Nishe, la Alcoba

Apartment - Shared room · Stuyvesant Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11233, United States

Cozy alcove located off our sunny main living room.

The Space

Die Nishe, la Alcoba (The Alcove!) is located on a tree lined street of a Brown/Limestone Block.
The space you sleep in is off our communal living room, tucked into a beautiful alcove with a window and curtains you can draw to make a caravan feel or leave open onto a beautiful sun filled living room with architectural details from the 1930's. Die Nishe, la Alcoba is semi-private with curtains separating it from the main living area. If you want a more private room, check availability on the il Piccolo Palazzo https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/796369 also in our apartment.
Breakfast can be provided, organic granola with milk/non dairy alternative, fruit, bread or bagels. There is also coffee from the Park Slope Food Co-Op and a French Press for you to use at your leisure and an extensive tea selection. Please let us know in advance if you will be having breakfast here because we don't want to waste food if you plan on enjoying one of the many delightful brunch options in the neighborhood!
The space is shared with me and my roommate Rachel who is an actress and often is traveling for gigs, our rooms are at the back of the apartment. We have a dog each. Pina is my dog and weighs in at 6lbs. Pup is Rachel's who has traveled with her for eleven years since they met in New Mexico.
The apartment is at the top of the building on the fourth floor and is a walk up, this will insure you keep your exercise regime and not get in trouble with your trainer when you return home. We are happy to help you with your bags. It is equipped with wifi and a netflix account for you to use at your leisure.

Guest Access

Guests have access to the main living area, the dining room, the shared bathroom and the kitchen.

Interaction with Guests

We are usually around (either myself or Rachel) and love to chit chat with our guests. One the things we love about AirBnb is getting to meet people from all over the world and learn about their lives!

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood, Bed-Stuy, is the best! People make eye contact and greet you when you walk the streets. A phenomenal Italian Restaurant, Saraghina, is one block away. Georges Andre, a sweet little coffee shop with amazing vintage furniture is less than a block away, they have amazing coffee and pastries. Bread Love, our local bakery, small grocery, and coffee shop, is about five blocks away and is a great place to pick up breakfast, lunch or dinner on the way home from a busy day of sightseeing. They now serve dinner Monday-Friday from 4-8pm and brunch on Saturday and Sunday! Small organic grocery store on the corner.

Getting around

The Utica A/C train is six short blocks or about five long legged minutes away. The A train connects with the air train from JFK at Howard Beach and gets you to home in forty minutes. You can reach Times Square in thirty five minutes and catch a movie or show at The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) in twenty minutes. Check out BAM's amazing lineup for Winter/Spring 2014! Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Hannah was a great host, along with all of her friends! My sister and I had a very fun time getting to know everyone over breakfast by having great and meaningful conversation. The amenities were awesome, and the location was great: low-key but with local pizza shops and coffee houses within walking distance. My sister and I were grateful we stayed.

  • We had a pleasant stay at Hannah's. The apartment is well-situated in a quiet neighborhood and Hannah and her roommates were laid back and respectful of our privacy. If you like dogs and don't mind sharing the place with other guests, you will definitely like this place.

  • Great stay at Hannah's!

Her roommate welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. It was just as you'd like: clean, easy to find, cosy. The bed is in an alcove as mentioned, in the living room, but you can close the door during the night. The tea selection is great too. Well, it was an overall good experience.

Oh, and the dog(s) are great, they don't bother you. Recommended!

  • Hannah and her roommate Rachel were such incredible hosts. After arriving from a long day of travel, we were greeted by both of them in their gorgeous airy apartment in Brooklyn. The alcove itself is very private -- a bonus for us since we were in need of some rest -- with a door closing it off from the rest of the spacious apartment. They treated us to breakfast, holding up the "breakfast" end of AirBnB! We were in need of envelopes for the consulate which Hannah graciously provided to us. Anything to make our stay more comfortable, Hannah and Rachel both were quick to offer help or advice. The A train is a short walk from the apartment and the neighborhood is very safe; worth exploring. A short stay for us but it was really exactly what we were looking for. Thank you!

  • The best place in my trip to USA. Very close to Manhattan and comfortable line A to JFK airport. The host is best.

  • I had the most fantastic time with Rachel and Hannah, not only because their apartment is super cute, located in an absolutely charming neighborhood and comes with two lovely dogs but because I enjoyed spending time with them so much. I'm a seasoned airbnb:er and I felt truly happy to have ended up at their place and to have gotten the chance to know these interesting, generous and thoughtful women. they went out of their way to help me (and the other guests staying there at the time) with any questions or concerns we might have and were extremely accommodating and flexible towards me. I would recommend this place to anyone who is a decent person but especially to those who are dog-loving, open minded, curious travelers with a sense of humor, who enjoys an interesting conversation once or twice in a while and who will treat them and their home with respect. Meanwhile I'm looking forward to the day we meet again! Thanks for everything and take care of yourselves and your furry friends.

  • Staying at Die Nishe was a wonderful experience! Hannah was very welcoming and accommodating, her dog Peanut was adorable, and the space was really beautiful and comfortable. The neighborhood is amazing too, full of beautiful old townhouses and with a really nice community feel. I would definitely recommend staying here!

  • Although she was very busy with her work during our stay in Brooklyn Hannah managed it very well to let us feel comfortable in her apartment. For those who want to explore NY City but want to stay in a nice and stressless sourrounding I can highly recommend Hannah's place.

  • A lovely apartment and lovely hosts! We recommend it as the best starting point to plunge into NYC for overwhelmed Europeans. Hannah and Rachel accommodated us warmly with the best organic breakfast and intensive and humorous talks at he kitchen table.
