The Adams family home is a clean, spacious and fun place to rest and play. Our guest room is a comfortable, good-sized room in a very clean, sunny, well-maintained home built in 1900.
The Guest Room has a new double size futon mattress always with clean sheets and the appropriate weight blankets.
The Adams family home is a clean, spacious and fun place to rest and play. Our guest room is a comfortable, good-sized room in a very clean, sunny, well-maintained home built in 1900. Miles of trails with frequent wildlife sightings are accessible right across the street from our house. The village of Penacook is a 10 minute walk (or 2 minute drive) with several eateries, a yoga studio, a vintage barber shop and a library. Downtown Concord, with plenty of nice shops and restaurants, is just 12 minutes away.
We're well situated for any type of visit - work, family visits, or adventure! Our home is an hour from the White Mountains to the north, 45 minutes to the seacoast town of Portsmouth and 45 minutes to the college town of Hanover. A number of boarding schools - St. Paul's, Andover, Tilton, Holderness, others - and colleges (Colby-Sawyer, New England College, UNH Law School) are nearby as well.
Our guest room is on the second floor of the house. We have an occasional housemate on the same floor, but she's rarely at home. We mostly live on the first floor, so chances are you'll have the second floor space to yourself - that includes the bedroom, bathroom, office and a large, bright Book Lounge. The bathroom and the Book Lounge are newly renovated. The bathroom has an Italian tile shower, granite countertop and oak vanity and a low flow water closet. Towels and accoutrements are always provided.
We're young professionals who spend lots of time outside, riding bikes and running trails and messing around in the garden.
We have a small, very sweet Bichon-terrier mix who doesn't shed or cause allergic reactions, and he'll stay out of your way if you want him to - or snuggle if you'd prefer that!
You can use the kitchen if needed & store food in our refrigerator. The 2nd floor common room is also free for you to use.
Interaction with Guests
We're happy to hang out with you if we're around and you want company, but won't be offended if you prefer to have a quiet night on your own. We want you to feel comfortable and welcomed always.
The neighborhood has a Yankee Puritan feel and is almost always quiet. Elm Street traffic is light during the day and night. One neighbor across the street maintains an ample farm stand through the growing season; another sells fresh eggs.
I-93 is 5 minutes away. The village of Penacook has a bus that can take you to Concord proper. The cost is $1.25 one way, take 20 minutes and operates during the week only. The bus stop is a 13 minute walk from our house.
We require arrival before 10pm.
Common sense... be respectful!
Maura's place was a perfect way for us to visit family without anyone having to give up their bed. The room was quiet and cozy, and the sitting area was a great place to read and do a little computer work. Everything was relaxed and easy.
What a beautiful and comfy house! The room is cozy (bigger than it looks) and the bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is very modern and spotlessly clean with an awesome large shower. And there is a large sitting room with comfy chairs and lots and lots of books to enjoy. Maura leaves you a printout of great hikes to take as well as a number of restaurants to try. We took advantage of her recommendations and they were very much appreciated. The neighborhood is quiet and rural. We even bought fresh veggies across the street at a local stand. Would definitely stay here again on any visit to this area!
Maura greeted us when we arrived and helped us carry our belongings upstairs to our room. She gave us a tour of our space and made us feel very welcome. We had use of most of the upstairs including a large bathroom, sitting room and bedroom. Maura had space in her refrigerator for a few items. She gave us excellent advice on places to dine.
The bed provided us with two nights of excellent rest. It is a very quiet neighborhood.
We were able to park off the street, close to the house so we did not have to worry about our car.
Maura has a very friendly little dog named Miles who loves to have belly rubs!
"A Pleasant Place" was indeed just perfect for us. Good location north of Concord, a pretty house in a pretty neighborhood, easy to find. Pre-instructions were clear, which was good because we had to arrive later in the evening. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was very nice. Coffee & tea available. All in all, more than Pleasant!
The house is a lovely and nicely rehabbed space. You are not in central Concord, but in a residential or more village like setting. You will have a comfortable bedroom and access to the entire second floor. I don't usually compliment the bathroom, but it is pretty nice. Maura, the host, is a delight, and if you can spend time with her, ask her about sustainable forestry. She was also very helpful about local attractions and we really appreciated learning about an excellent farm to table restaurant (the Republic in Manchester). In short, we were vary happy to have stayed here.
Maura and Brian were great hosts as we travelled in the USA. They made us feel very welcome and were so easy to get along with. We stayed upstairs and it was like having a home away from home. They let us use their kitchen when we needed to and gave us tips about travelling. If anyone is looking for a place to stay in this part of New Hampshire don't hesitate to contact them. We happily recommend them and just wish we had more time to get to know them.
Hi! I work in the environmental field and spend lots of time outside: run, bike, and hike with my husband and little white dog. I garden and cook a lot, mostly local foods. I read constantly - eclectic choices - and highly value great writing. I travel around northern New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine quite a bit for work, always looking for airbnb places to stay. On vacation - most recently in Washington State - we have found fantastic airbnb places too. We've learned a lot about what makes a good airbnb stay and believe that helps us create a really nice experience for people who stay with us.
