The Neighborhood

Tracy has lived in the neighborhood since 1999 and loves how undeveloped it is. No traffic jams, no one is in a hurry, people take time to say hello and chat for a bit. It's old school, dirty south, although gentrification is surely inevitable :( since it's so close to downtown/MARTA/airport/highways, and the housing stock is desirable, comprised of mainly Craftsman Bungalows built in the 20's and 30's. See Sylvan Hills Wiki page for full history. Locals are generally friendly, welcoming, willing to help a neighbor in need, and have much love in their hearts, though most have a hard life, just struggling to make ends meet. Folks are just keepin it real around here. Porch sittin' is still the way of life here(please look it up on WIKI), and we always say hello to each other in passing. Please respect our customs. It's SO opposite of the upscale areas like Buckhead.

Easy going and creative....enjoy cooking, entertaining, local, organic food, yoga, good wine, all things vintage, history, architectural preservation, lots of good music, art, film, animals, nature, sailing, the ocean, traveling, calm and tranquil spaces, and try to find beauty in all things. Love to have fun and not take life too seriously. Enjoy hosting and meeting new friends from all cultures and backgrounds and don't really follow the mainstream of American culture at all. Love to buy houses and fix them up. Have quite a few places where we host guests and try to be as accommodating as possible. When staying in a private room, you will be in a room in one of our houses, most likely, there will be a couple of canine co-hosts in the house as well, so loving dogs is a must! Our properties are in lower income, inner city neighborhoods where real, local ATLiens live. You won't see many tourists around, mostly, just typical working class folks who love to sit on the front porch and unwind as part of Southern culture. We always say hello to each other in passing, so please be friendly and observe our friendly custom when encountering locals, they will appreciate the gesture. Locals typically enjoy meeting and helping out-of-towners. Because we are in a lower income, less traveled neighborhood, we can offer stylish, affordable accommodations to travelers on a budget. Also, for travelers relying on public transportation, we are on the Marta line conveniently situated halfway between the Airport and downtown. The rates are very reasonable and not subject to negotiation. Rates, terms, and policies are fixed and applied equally to all guests. We look forward to hosting you one day soon.
