Lovely apartment on two levels with private area upstairs for guests. A gorgeous view over the water of Sai Kung and the apartment is at the beginning of a country park so you won't feel like you are in Hong Kong. Close to buses and trains and only a few minutes into Sai Kung town which is known for its seafood.
Guests have their own kitchen and dining/sitting area, and brand new shower and toilet as well as an open space outside to sit and enjoy the view. Minimum stay in upstairs area is 2 nights.
One small single room downstairs is also available for $55US per night and this is the only room I will rent out for one night only.
Facilities include Kitchen, own bathroom, laundry, wifi internet, parking if needed
I interact with my guests as much or as little as they prefer.
My neighbourhood is at the beginning of the country park so there is lots of greenery around. My house also has a lovely waterview so guests can simply sit in the outdoor area and enjoy the view.
There are buses not even one minute away that go into Sai Kung town or to the nearest MTR at Wu Kai Sha station or to University station and Shatin station.
Greate location, backed up right on the Sai Kung park with a hiking trail leading into dramatic views right at the top of the village. Apartment was simple but had all the necessaries for the price, and the balcony makes it. Jill was easy to work with.
Jill went out of her way on a work night to wait for my very late arrival and guide me to her beautiful home, where I enjoyed gorgeous sunshine, a beautiful view, a comfy bed, happy conversation, and the friendly company of her two dogs. Thank you again Jill, and look forward to the next time I can come by HK!
Jill was very helpful but unfortunately in the end we were not able to stay at hers.
Jill's hospitality, location, and well-appointed house form a perfect basis for exploring the Sai Kung area. I had a kitchen and grill, and also laundry right around the corner on the deck. The deck is lovely and has a great view of the sea with nice breezes when desired.
Sai Kung is a short, inexpensive bus ride away, and there are several buses you can get to it. If you want a long walk you can walk it. If you want to go kayaking, on the walk to Sai Kung, on the sea side there are outfits to rent you a kayak and gear. I skipped the first one as it was not open and went with one of the ones on the next beach toward Sai Kung. That's 30-50 HKD. Row into the wind first as the winds can be stiff.
I went for a hike in the Sai Kung country park. If doing it like I did, you can get a bus or taxi from Sai Kung to Sai Wan Pavilion (aka Sai Wan Ting) in the morning, hike to Sai Wan and then Ham Tin beach, then take the trail from Ham Tin to Pak Tam Au where the buses back are more frequent than at Sai Wan Pavilion. Something like 6-7 miles total if you do it that way.
I bought some fish off the boats in Sai Wan -- you can take it back and grill it, though that is a bit of a production. I liked Mr Froyo in Sai Kung. Jojo Indian is good too.
On getting there: the cell phone reception is great on the deck, but nonexistent on the street level in Wong Chuk Wan village, so you may not be able to call Jill easily on arrival -- may want to plan around that possibility, One of the pictures she posted on AirBnB shows a yellow building with white rectangular corner decorations - that building is a good marker to recognize the building next to hers. Easy to use the driveway just 40 feet South of the entrance to the village, on Sai Sha road - it goes down rather than up into the village. There are buses to Sha Tin from the Airport that take 40 minutes, then Sha Tin to Sai Kung, then bus or taxi, or you can go to University station and get off at Wong Chuk Wan village on the way to Sai Kung (just before Sai Sha road gets to the water and turns toward Sai Kung).
The 2 dogs are very nice. They hadn't finished the door keeping shower spray in when I visited but that was in process, and you can use the main shower at your option. As Jill and company are very gracious and helpful but also leave you to relax alone when desired, I can recommend heartily that you stay with them.
Jill is a great host. She communicated most effectively with me to help me find her home and she made it all very easy and comfortable. She was generous in so many ways. I am pretty sure that anyone would like to be hosted by Jill.
And the view from her verandah is just amazing and to wake up and wander out there for breakfast is just awesome.
Easy walks to the bay and to Saikung or plenty of transport options.
Enjoy everyone. I did.
Jill was a wonderful host! We enjoyed the beautiful view and the easy access to Sai Kiung.
Jill is a very friendly and welcoming host. She is well prepare for her guest. Her place is nice and quiet and a great place for retreat. Highly recommended! It feels like home!
A lovely flat with beautiful views in a very quiet hillside neighborhood not far from Saikung town center. The balcony really is special, and Jill is as hospitable as they come. We didn't get to use the BBQ but would be perfect for grilling while overlooking the marina and islands.
Jill was a gracious host that made our stay easy. Her apartment allows for a quiet getaway from the city in a beautiful setting. We would definitely recommend her accommodation.
Good location for Sai Kung town. Several buses near by or a 25 minute walk into town. Wonderful view of the sea. Comfy home suitable for someone staying by themselves or a couple.
