It’s a newly renovated apartment that overlooks the bay of Valparaiso. The view is unbeatable day and night. It has a well-tended garden, with different blooms depending on the season. Beyond the garden, you can see the roofs of the ravine, with beautiful cats that enjoy the sea view, placidly, freely and confident that life will provide.
It has an integrated living-dining-kitchen. Two futon (Prince size) very comfortable and practical. The kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, appliances and towels. All crockery is white (beautifully designed), therefore easy replacement. It has linen for the three beds (double bed and futons). All of the daily cleaning items are available. Radio / CD player with USB port and good speakers, small TV(not flat). The master bedroom suite with view has a large closet, a double bed and two nightstands with individual lamps. The bathroom is fully equipped. IMPECCABLE.
The building has administrative and cleaning staff. It has security cameras. For little money, you can get domestic service. The residents of this building are professionals and academics who undertook this project as partners a few years ago, and remain organized, so coexistence is respectful and pleasant.
To access you must walk up a staircase typical of Valparaiso, called Bocaccio, but you can easily arrive by car, taxi or colectivo, which is the usual way to get around Valparaiso. During mass celebrations, there are no possibilities for parking inside the building, but there is availability around. We who have lived here over the holidays, we thought it best to move on foot or by colectivos, because they are very cheap and run frequently: a real institution in Valpo. In addition, in Chile is forbidden to drive after drinking.
This department is a 15 minute walk, and 5 minutes by colectivo, from the gastronomic center of Cerro Alegre, and 10 minutes from Valparaiso Cultural Park. The distance is even less from Plaza Bismark and Puppet Theatre and Museum Clown.
This Department has a problem - for our family- … is so comfortable and so pretty sight. Sometimes we lose the urge to go out and stand contemplating the world offered us next to the greatest luxury of this era: free time to allow to elapse before our eyes.

The apartment was exactly what photos featured. The view mesmerising day & night. The apartment was clean and tidy. Easy to catch collectivo or taxi 'up the hill'. The steps get a wee bit of getting use to, but the sense of community in the apartment block was safe and friendly. Communication was very good considering I knew little Spainish. I recommend this apartment as the view was a defining feature in Valapariso for us.
The apartment just as pictured and the view from the apartment is wonderful. Not a large place, but we were comfortable. The owners were flexible upon arrival and departure which was very nice. The only drawback is the accessibility by car - the road, given it's location on Cerro Alegre, is difficult to navigate, and the stairs up / down are steep.
Loreto and Catalina's apartment is well-equipped with a phenomenal view. It looks exactly like the pictures. It was very convenient to grocery shop and cook for ourselves throughout the stay, and the kitchen has all of the basics available which was very nice.
Catalina was very helpful with getting us set up and answered our questions by email (in english) throughout the stay. There was a landlord on site who was around each day and helped us with calling a cab the last day.
We walked around mostly, but were unable to figure out the collectivos. The apartment is very far uphill and there is a lot of walking (the apartment itself is accessed in the middle of a large staircase).
The only warning I will have is that the area is out of the touristy area and me and my friend (both young females) did not feel comfortable walking around at night. That being said, I don't feel that Valparaiso is a place two young females should walk around anyways outside of the very touristy areas with restaurants. The apartment complex has a large locked gate on the outside which made us feel safe inside the apartment.
We enjoyed our stay in Valparaiso enormously, Loreto's apartment was lovely. Very well equipped glorious views. We found the local transport the collectivos train etc very good and managed the climbs up to her place better and better everyday. a great place to visit and feel part of a community.
Our stay in Loreto and Catalina's apartment was perfectly comfortable. We looked forward to our return there each evening after exploring Valparaiso. The stairs up to the apartment were not a problem after climbing all the hills! The apartment was clean, quiet and well equipped. Last but not least, the view over the bay and the Pacific Ocean was spectacular, especially in the evening.
Best apartment in Valparaiso!!
Catalina's place is so beautiful and instantly made us feel at home. We had a hard time leaving each morning to start out day!
The view is perfection and the apartment itself is cool, clean and beautifully decorated. Comfortable bed, great kitchen. She was also really easy to coordinate with and helped us arrange everything.
This was by far our favorite airbnb stay during our trip to Chile!
My friend and I stayed for two weeks in this lovely apartment overlooking Valparaiso Bay. Day or night the view is wonderful!! The apartment is safe with an outside gate and good security lock. The apartment building!s garden is lovely. (It would be nice if their were comfortable chairs on the patio near the gate in which to sit and read.)
The apartment is modern, spotless. and nicely decorated. The kitchen is well equipped and handy for evening meals and breakfast. (We always ate lunch at one of Valparaiso's many good restaurants...a favourite was Fauna with it's great view deck.)
We enjoy walking so going so up and down the hill was no problem for us even with groceries. However, if walking especially uphill is an issue, there are many local buses, collectivios, and taxis around so getting home is not a problem. We particularly enjoyed several rides on the "0" bus caught at the Jumbo store. It follows the high scenic route along Allenania (get off at Plaza Bismark).
We mainly communicated with Catalina, Lotero's daughter. She has good English skills and was always helpful.
Remember that Valparaiso is wonderful but it is a port city. Stick to the main routes downtown and the more tourist-oriented areas.
Definitely a recommended place to stay!!!!
The apartment has a wonderful view of Valparaiso and sits right above a nice little garden. Its a bit tough to find so best to get clear directions from Loreto or her daughter (who speaks excellent english). Its a 10-15 minute walk from some excellent restaurants (Pasta e Vino, Fauna, Malandrino, Cafe Vinilo) and sits above a few churches. If you dont have a car, be prepared to walk on steep hills - which is true for Valparaiso generally. The apartment was clean and well equipped and has 2 pullout couches so good for a couple with kids. We had a nice stay and would recommend.
A great apartment, beautiful views over Valparaiso and very easy to get to using Valparaiso's buses and colectivos (regulated shared taxis). Loreto was a very helpful host, always responded to emails promptly and answered all our questions and concerns. The apartment gets a little cold as it is out of the sun but the thoughtful electric heater solved that problem nicely. The kitchen is well stocked with plates, pans, salt, pepper etc. A perfect base to explore Valpo!
This is a great place to stay in Valparaiso, high up on Cerro Carcel, in a very secure apartment with a magnificent view of the bay. The apartment is just as the photographs show with a spacious living room/kitchen and a good sized bedroom with adjoining bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped and the apartment has an excellent internet/wi-fi connection.
Loreto is an great host who wants to make sure her guests really enjoy their stay. She is very helpful in the information she provides concerning transport and services in Valparaiso. I spent a few weeks in Santiago before moving to Valparaiso and was able to meet Loreto before I moved. She was kind enough to help bring my many suitcases to Valparaiso. She and her husband are very nice, good people.
On a practical note, there are three small grocery shops around the corner from the apartment, as well as off licence. It is easy to get around the city once you know which buses or colectivos (shared taxis) to take. I mostly walked into town (downhill) and got a colectivo back (uphill). There are large supermarkets in the city centre and it is cheap even to take a taxi back up the hill with your shopping, especially from the area near Plaza Anibal Pinto.
Valparaiso is a visually intriguing city and great place to walk around. Cerro Carcel is just above Cerro Alegre which has numerous excellent restaurants so you will be within easy walking distance of these. Pablo Neruda's house is a twenty-minute walk away along Avenida Alemania, and there is also a bus that runs along that route.
I spent ten weeks in Loreto's apartment and enjoyed every day of that.
