Note: This room has a real queen sized bed instead of the photo, which is an airbed.
Comfortable furnishings, high ceilings, natural light and wood floors welcomes you to this beautiful Austin home. Our home is a sanctuary to us and we would love to share that with you. Our home is conveniently located in 78704, the heart of Austin. It is a 5-10 minute drive to downtown or a 15-20 minute bike ride along the hike and bike greenbelt to downtown. It is also 2 minute ride to Barton Springs, The Place to swim in Austin.
This bedroom is on the second floor of a three story house. It has its own bathroom and entrance. It is attached to the house and is located next to the kitchen.
The room has a real queen size bed (photo shows air mattress, not true!) and is made for two people. You can fit one other people on the floor if you need for festivals and such. There is not room for an air mattress, but sleeping bags or a tamari mat.
This room also has a closet that holds the washer and dryer. For short term rentals, it is no problem to have that off limits to the rest of the house. Long term, you would need to be ok with us using them, when it is convenient for you, of course. The back door overlooks the scenic back yard.
There is a shared kitchen, huge living room and a sun room overlooking the greenbelt.
We also offer private yoga classes, healing sessions, and in home massage. We also can advise on local yoga / healing happenings around Austin. Make this home your retreat while you are in Austin.
Fully equipped shared kitchen w/ vitamix, dehydrator, and omega juicer
Access to Washer / Dryer by appointment because it is in one of the bedrooms
Parking is free on the street right out in front
Quiet residential neighborhood
No parties or extra guests
No smoking inside
No pets (I already have a cat here)
Alyson and Max were welcoming and accessible. We ended up staying in the other room in the house which was slightly more private, spacious and cozy. Kitchen was useful and available. Overall, we found this to be a great base to visit Austin.
Alyson and Max were both super nice and fun to be around. The house was great and in a perfect location in South Austin, close to Barton Springs and the Greenbelt. I had a great time and highly recommend them.
A very comfortable room and the hosts made us feel very welcome. It was a great location for ACL, except maybe a little hilly to walk back after standing for 8 hours.
Alyson was very respectful of our privacy and always prompt to respond to our questions via text. The neighborhood is quiet and the house is a perfect location for your ACL weekend. If you plan on exploring all the different areas Austin has to offer (6th Street, Rainey, East Austin etc.) I would suggest a rental car for this location. We did not have a rental car for most of our trip and we ended up spending a lot of time and money (busses and Ubers) getting to and from the Lotus House.
Lotus House was the perfect place for my stay in Austin. Allyson is relaxed, very nice and is also helpful in terms of places to eat nearby. There are plenty! I liked the location- quiet in a nice neighborhood but very near Lamar avenue and the rest of town. Lotus House itself is very attractive. I would definitely come back here.
My husband and I stayed at the Lotus House for 3 days and found it to be a very relaxing and comfortable accommodation. Alyson and Tyler were helpful, laid back hosts. It should be noted that the house is located in a very hilly neighbourhood, and is a 15-20min walk to the nearest main street. With a rental car this would be fine but on foot or by bike, this is a bit challenging.
I already went to Alyson's place 2 years ago, and it still a pleasure to go there. Very clean, very nice and discret. Thanks a lot Alyson to share your awesome house with such kindness! See you soon !

I am an explorer at heart. I have lived and worked in various countries, teaching English as a second language. I now teach and import, which still keeps me traveling. But alas, I keep coming back to Austin to live and I love it! I stay active with yoga, potlucks, dancing, and any new experiences. The Lotus House is a sanctuary for me and my house mate, Max. He travels as much as I do and we love co-creating these experiences on airbnb together.
