This charming apartment is what might be called “shabby chic”, a combination of traditional antique furniture and modern mod cons (see photos). The location (3 minutes from the woods, 5 minutes’ walk from the centre of the village with its numerous shops, restaurants, cafés and bars) is ideal as a base from which to enjoy leisure activities like skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, mountain biking, alpine lidos, riding, white water rafting, etc. etc.

Equidistant to the excuberant cities of Munich and Zurich (both about 2 hours on the scenic train), a few kilometres from Austria, about 1 hour from the König Ludwig’s famous castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, as well as beautiful Lake Constance - you can travel through 4 countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein) in a day! (Bus day trips available from 2 companies in the village.)

The Aquaria leisure centre is 3 minutes’ walk away and provides indoor and outdoor pools and sauna (some of them with spectacular views), a gym and a brand-new water slide. Ideal for rainy days!

Or try the local cuisine, for instance in the excellent

You’ll spend unforgettable days in this lovely part of the world…

Other things to note

Please note: There is no Wifi at the flat atm, BUT when you get your Tourism card (forms to fill in on the table, you need to take them to the Haus des Gastes which is only a few steps away, on the main road), you have access to Wifi at various spots in the village, PLUS cheaper (or even free) entry to many tourism attractions (from skilifts to the Aquaria leisure centre with outdoors and indoors pools, saunas, etc. all less than 5 minutes from the house). This is a compulsory tourism levy at € 3 pp/pn, but it is more than worth it in terms of what you get.

Pea's sister lives right next door and gave us the keys ad offered any assistance we might need. She was very friendly and charming. The apartment was large and very comfortable and well-equipped. The antique furniture and accessories made us feel we were in an old home. We LOVED that! The delightful village of Oberstaufen is just steps away with an excellent grocery store and all other necessary amenities.

Péa is a great host who shows a lot of care for her guests, not only after they arrive but even before that. Before arrival I missed the train to Oberstaufen, which lead to a 4 hour delay in the middle of the night. She personally called to check on us and even tried helping us finding a way to arrive earlier. The house itself is spot on. Everything is well-taken care of and absolutely comfortable. The place is in the very center of the village, close to the bus and train stations, shops, and stores yet the house itself is very calm. If you ever go to Oberstaufen, definitely come here.

This was an amazing place in the hills. So quiet and, well, German. In fact it could have been the most German place I've ever been. Pea and her sister were fantastic hosts. There was beer in the fridge. I knew I'd like the place after that! I'd recommend their lovely, roomy family home to anyone.

Certainly the asset was to me the kind and helpful support from the sister and brother of the host! The interior design and the title "cosy retreat" is debatable. Certainly a Wlan router with internet access would be an essential improvement.

The apartment is a real gem if you are looking for an authentic local stay. It's location just minutes to walk to the city centre. Pea was a supportive host and taking care that everything went well even when not around. Thank you, hope to come again.

Cosy alpine retreat is in an excellent location, right in the village but still very quiet. The apartment has everything that you would need. Susi and Hansjorg were ever so helpful. It was a real pleasure to stay there and would reccomend it to anyone.
