Lydia was a great manager. She is quick to respond to any questions or help you needed. The room is nice and spacious, as is the apartment. Though there are a few things that aren't mentioned that might be useful to know before renting. In this room, though maybe not a problem in the summer, is the whole heating system, which does not flow into the other rooms unless you have the door open. It's a bit noisy and can make the room fluctuate from hot to cold quickly. It also leaked a few times into the center of the room (which was quickly fixed by Lydia). Also along with the second bedroom there is an office in the apartment that, I encountered, is used sometimes at odd times of the day, like late into the night. And with the walls being so thin it really can cut down on the privacy you may think you are getting and can make you feel like your intruding. This is something I think the host needs to take into consideration for perhaps better business etiquette onto the guest. On that note, the walls are very thin all around, the neighbours are quiet but the street noise in this room at least can get a little loud., it's not really a problem in the rest of the apartment. The area is nice, metro is close by, I never felt uncomfortable on the streets and there are some interesting galleries and art around. The food selection is gourmet (and delicious) but a little limited, so if you're looking for cheap eats it's not really the area. All in all, area is good, Lydia was a great manager, the host could make some better choices. Hope that is helpful.
Comfortable, clean, friendly, helpful. The neighborhood is fun, and having such a great kitchen and nice place to hang out when it was too snowy to go out (!!) was perfect.
Really loved having the staples available in the kitchen (oil, butter, salt, even spices!).
The neighborhood and building feel very "New York" funky, which we loved too.
Lydia was available for any questions re the house and/or the 'hood.
Once again, I am so pleased with the place I have rented! Matthew has a spacious and comfortable place setup with everything you'd need for feeling at home. Even though it was cold outside, I never had a problem with the heat as it blasted when needed to quickly warm up the room. didn't see him much but he was always at the ready if needed and was very friendly and allowed me and my wife to have a later checkout when our flight got pushed back. I would definitely suggest this place.
The Brooklyn apartment has a lot of character: it was very comfortable and homey! The kitchen was great: fully equipped: everything you could need! And the common dining area was nice a spacious. The couch was one of the most comforatble couches i have ever sat on. The board games are a very nice touch. Matthew and Lydia were very friendly and kind whenever we contacted them via email however we never saw them in person. New York saw some incredibly bad weather when we arrived which resulted in us having a fair amount of trouble with the lockbox system. There was a blizzard happening outside and the part of the fence with the lock on it was almost buried in snow. I personally find this system very impersonal and would much rather meet and greet the hosts on arrival but I understand that this isn't always convenient for everyone. The extremely cold (-13degrees celcius at times) weather during our stay caused our room to be a little uncomfortable because a certain part of the window wouldn't close and so we had to have the heater on full which after a few days had dried out our throats and skin. Also the heater was very loud. But matthew was very accomodating, coming to fix the heater quickly the day after I contacted him to tell him it was leaking. I like that the apartment is shared as it gives you the oppertunity to meet other travellers or even locals (we encountered both during our stay) while having your own privacy as well. The area seemed pretty good: an up and coming area in Brooklyn, I've been told. With nice little cafes and organic health food shops popping up all around! The metro/subway is nice and close too. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the flat and I would definitely recommend!
Top Apartement, great location and nice host!
I cannot say enough about how perfect this place was!!! My 2 friends and I stayed in Room 2. It was soo spacious, and comfortable! It was a place that after being out all day and night I was sooo happy to come home to. The kitchen is huge! It's located literally right next to a fitness studio, so a couple mornings we just rolled out of bed and went to yoga and meditation. It is right across the street from a cafe. 2 blocks away from a highly recommended pizza place, 2 blocks away from a natural market, and 3 blocks away from the subway station.
The neighborhood is sooo awesome, I'm actually thinking about moving to Williamsburg myself now. So artsy. It's a hipster's heaven hahahha.... Lydia and Matthew answered any and all questions I had, moving in and moving out was soo easy and they were kind enough to let us drop off our luggage early so we could explore hassle free.
My friends and I had to leave and stay at another airbnb because this place was booked for a couple days out of our trip.. and let me tell you we missed this place so much. There was no comparison. We all had an extraordinary experience. I wish we could have stayed longer.
Thank you so much Lydia and Matthew!!!!!!!
Just the job!!
If you just need somewhere to crash on a budget…..
Great host, very helpful and easy to communicate with.
It was my first time in New York City and it couldn't have been better. The loft is very close (3 min) to the main metro line which takes you to manhattan in about 10 minutes. You have very good restaurant around the loft and a pretty cool bar! Matthew was very kind. Loved it!
