Built in the 1850's, this home has a big story to tell!
Whether you are listening to the babbling brook, grilling your fresh catch on the patio, or falling asleep listening to the rain fall on the old tin roof, we are confident you will love this home as much as we do!
There are three bedrooms and a total of six comfortable sleeping spaces in this large home, as well as a sun porch and, a game room coming in 2025.

The space
We are located right on the main road to Raystown.

The house sits on the same property as another We are located right on the main road to Raystown. The house sits on the same property as another small home, which is currently a long term rental, and across the street from a church and cemetery.

While we have done what we can to fix the house up, it is a very old house, and has some imperfections.

We like it that way!

Sometimes the drawers stick and the windows are currently older in a lot of the house. We believe this adds to the character of the old girl.

We love children! We have as many safety items as we can in place. Examples include cordless blinds in all of the house but the dining room, and that one has been wound up with cord protectors. We also have outlet plugs and safety locks on knife drawers and cleaning supply cabinets throughout the house. But there are some things, like the stream on the property that we can't baby lock. There is also a breaker box in one of the upstairs bedrooms, so we recommend locking that door with the key provided if you have small children in the home.

Also, make sure you bring your groceries and other supplies with you! Once there, there are minimal places close by to go get things. Although we have provided a list of places to get minor staples in our booklet on the table, like general store kinds of places, the closest Walmart is at least 30 minutes away.
Any questions, please feel free to message us any time!

Guest access
There is another short term rental on this property. The driveway is large with space enough for all guests, but it is shared. We ask that guests park so that others can park in that area as well.

Other things to note
Most of the top outlets in the main bedroom only work when the light switch
is on.

The ceilings upstairs are very low, particularly in the two bedrooms to the
right. While the upstairs bathroom and the third bedroom to the left are
somewhat low as well, the other rooms only have six foot ceilings.

There is a step down and a very low doorway entrance to the right hand side bedrooms as well. Watch your step and your head. There are signs posted there as a reminder.

Taller folks may choose to use the downstairs bedroom and bathroom, which have normal sized ceilings.

Neighborhood highlights

James Creek is a close knit community.
The house shares the property with a long term renter in a separate cottage.
Shy Beaver boat ramp is approximately two miles from our location.
There is a church and a graveyard across the street from the house. Neighbors in the area tend to keep to themselves, so it is fairly quiet, other than traffic on the road.
We ask that our guests respect the quiet time hours, as our neighbors are used to a serene environment.
