I stayed with Mhari & Glenn for 11 nights and really enjoyed it there. They are a wonderful couple, very friendly and helpful, and especially great for advice on good restaurants in the neighborhood ;-)
The apartment was nice and tidy, and it was a lovely and warm room. And as an extra bonus you pretty much have a bathroom all to yourself, which was great.
I would definitely recommend staying with them :)
I have been spending a month at Mhari and Ghlenn's.
The bedroom is as on the picture, cosy and warm :) I had my own bathroom, which was very convenient (no rush on morning to go working).
The location of the flat is great; I have mainly been walking around. City center is approx 10-15 min walk, there are plenty of restaurants, coffees and supermarket in the Leith walk very close by.
Mhari and Glenn are wonderful couple: welcoming me, helping me with sorting out things in Edinburgh, and also cheering me up!
This was a great place to base myself for two weeks of festival fun. Close enough to town to walk in or plenty of buses close by to get further afield. Cosy room and private bathroom a nice feature. All the main features you'd be looking for in a kitchen (bar the previously mentioned microwave!) and was good to have laundry facilities available while mid trip. Mhari & Glenn made for a warm reception on arrival and are always interested in following up on your adventures round town or offering local tips and recommendations to check out. Would come again in the future.
Mhari & Gleen were very hospitable and made me feel very welcome in their home. Would definitely recommend to others!
I spent a very nice week in Mhari & Glenn's apartment.
The location is very central within Edinburgh. You can easily walk about 10-15 minutes to Princes street, or just take a bus a few stops over to the old town. Close by supermarket and restaurants, and within walking distance from the bus station and train station.
Mhari & Glenn didn't mind my late hours, and were chatty and informative when I did see them.
The apartment itself is clean, and while the room itself is not very big, it fits a suitcase comfortably. The bathroom is great - hot shower 24/7 with good strong current.
One thing to be noted - the microwave doesn't work. So if you're planning on re-heating leftovers - only optional if you wanna used the stove.
All in all - highly recommended apartment.
I enjoyed my visit with Mhari and Glenn. These are good, happy people who are a joy to visit with.
I used their washer which was a help to me and they were happy to make suggestions regarding places I was interested in, as in good places to eat.
The flights of stairs were a bit daunting to an older guy like me, but it wasn't too much.
They keep a clean and comfortable looking apartment.
I would go again.
Mhari and Glenn have lived together since 2013.
Mhari came to Edinburgh in 2001, originally from Northern Scotland, and has been here (pretty much) ever since. She runs a non-profit theatre company based in Glasgow that aims to conquer the world. She likes Glasgow but Edinburgh is very much home so she has so far (3.5 years in) refused to move.
Glenn, originally from Northern Ireland, moved to Edinburgh in 2011 for work. He enjoys reading, good food and wine (with Mhari), films, writing and is happiest when he's studying / learning something new.
Edinburgh is full of gorgeous things to see and do: you could climb the seven hills that Edinburgh was built on, visit the castles, head off to a day-trip up north (the highlands really are as beautiful as anywhere you will come across). If you're looking for restaurant recommendations we can steer you in the right direction whether you're after a mug of stew or stovies by an open fire at Leith's Shore or more interested in fine dining by castle or in New Town.
Mhari is known for being funny, friendly and a good cook. We both like film, music, visual art, theatre and Mhari has an unquestioning love of all board and card games. We're open-minded about most things and like to listen to passionate people talk about their specialist subjects. We like to have a good chat about things and put the world to rights over some wine or whisky. We love to eat out and have a long list of favourite Edinburgh restaurants.
