The Space

Thanks for checking out my awesome and spacious Nob Hill studio apartment.

Experience San Francisco like the most fortunate locals do, and enjoy your stay in a charming and excellently placed open cul-de-sac directly across the street from the Ritz Carlton Hotel and within two blocks of other world class hotels including the famous Fairmont, Huntington, Mark Hopkins and Stanford Court Hotels. The California Street cable car line literally stops right at the corner, and the Powell-Hyde cable car stops just a block away. Historic Chinatown, North Beach, Union Square and the Financial District are all just steps away.

If you’re here for business, the Moscone Convention Center is an easy 15 minute downhill walk through Union Square away; alternatively the 30/45 bus lines stop a block away and can take you there in about the same amount of time.

I just finished setting everything up in this apartment home so everything is brand new and impeccably clean, and it’s in a classic San Francisco building with tons of traditional character and charm. It’s a very roomy space for the solo business traveller or can serve as a really comfortable urban retreat for the sightseeing couple, with a small sofa that can serve as an additional sleeping space for a third guest if necessary. The unit is in the back of the building and faces a small backyard garden away from the street, so it is very private and quiet despite its central city location. My place is fully furnished with all the comforts of home, including fresh linens and towels.

Indulge in some of the City’s most fabulous dining and exciting nightlife, all within a couple blocks’ reach! Being surrounded by so many delicious and affordable dining options (truly impressive feasts can be found in nearby Chinatown or North Beach for less than it would cost to venture to the grocery store and prepare a home cooked meal) I rarely find myself eating at home, but if you choose to the kitchen features full cooking amenities with basic cookware and dishes/flatware, microwave and coffee maker.

Amenities:
• Entire fully furnished apartment home for your stay
• Quiet garden view suite in classic elevator building
• Fresh linens and towels
• Toiletries and hairdryer provided, just bring your toothbrush!
• High speed cable internet with Wi-Fi
• Flat screen TV with premium HD cable service
• Full/double size bed
• Memory foam mattress
• Sofa
• Table and chairs
• Huge walk-in closet and dresser space to unpack your clothes
• Full kitchen with basic cookware, dishes and flatware
• Coin-op laundry in building
• Numerous laundromats and dry-cleaners within a couple blocks’ radius
• Numerous convenience stores within a couple blocks’ radius

Since this is my own second home and I’d like to stay here for a while, I’d like to kindly ask you to be mindful of my neighbors and apartment during your stay—NO parties, pets or smoking will be tolerated inside my home, so if these are your intentions please look elsewhere.

I personally love the convenience and exciting location of this spectacular Nob Hill retreat, and I hope for the opportunity to share the experience with you during your visit to San Francisco. I’m a third generation San Franciscan, and during your stay I’ll gladly provide personalized recommendations toward the best in local dining and activities—all the best stuff that you won’t find in guidebooks—to truly enrich your visit and leave your heart in San Francisco!

If this sounds like an ideal arrangement for you, please contact me so we could get to know each other and discuss availability/logistics; tell me a little about yourself and what’s sparked your visit to SF. I look forward to meeting and hosting you during your visit.

  • Apartment is in best location and met all my needs for a week long business stay. Very quiet at night. Spacious and super-clean. No detail was missing - especially loved the clothes steamer! Austin is an ideal host - personable, knowledgeable, and accessible. I will be back!

  • Austin was a great host, very helpful and provided a lot of information about the apartment and location. He was very flexible and went out of his way to help me.
I think this was a good location for SF, I could get to many locations easily and many tours pick up from Union Square (about 10 mins walk).
The apartment was good: big, airy and sunny.

  • When we arrived at the place, Austin was out of town and his cleaning lady handed us the key. The room was as expected: new, clean and spacious. It was really close to Union Square and shopping centers (10 min walk). You can also ride a cable car from Market & Powell to get here (5 min, $6).

This place is located on a lower level. When you enter the apartment building you have to go down one level. Although there is a large window and it gets a lot of sun light in the morning, we didn't expect this place to be in a lower level of the building. Also when we entered the hall way of lower level, it smelled really weird. Though the place was really nice and clean, we didn't like the smell in the hall way.

On one night we could hear a loud noise in the building and it was really annoying. We suspect that people were moving something through stairs and it bumped a lot to make an awful racket.

Lastly, the room was quite chill if we're out of beds at night. Although there was a air conditioner attached to wall right next to the bed, it was quite noisy and we didn't like heated air.

Restroom was impeccably clean and had enough water pressure, but it was a little bit chill when I turned water off during a shower.

    Response from Austin:

Thanks for the feedback and helpful criticism Taegyun.

To clarify for future prospective guests: the smell Taegyun is describing was outside the apartment, and it was only a temporary issue that I've brought up with my neighbor in the building to ensure the building's hallways stay odor free.

Regarding the chilly temperatures: there's not much I can do to control the weather here in San Francisco, and it can indeed get chilly at night. I provide a wall heater in the apartment as well as an electric space heater for people who are used to warmer climates.

  • My family and I stayed in Austin's apartment for 2 nights and really loved it. It is superbly located in SF - cable car stops right outside the apartment and it is within walking distance of Union Square (although the walk back is quite steep!).

Austin was really accommodating with our additional requests and even carried our luggage up the stairs and ordered us some pizza when we arrived at 11pm.

Thanks Austin for a great time! I can really recommend this apartment!

About
What's up Airbnb'ers, I'm a third generation San Franciscan, and I happily returned to this great city in 2011 after nine years living/working/studying in New York City, Hong Kong and Southern California and as much travelling/backpacking that I could afford around China, Southeast Asia and Western Europe. My day job is in the finance industry, and I'm a huge fan of travelling, eating delicious local food, snowboarding, golf and poker, among many other hobbies. I love the philosophy behind Airbnb's peer-to-peer home-sharing model, and the Airbnb experience has been a lot of fun so far. I'm excited to serve as your host during your visit to San Francisco, and I hope your stay here empowers you to experience all the magic this city has to offer. I also look forward to meeting many of you and maybe even experiencing life in your city some day as well! Happy Travels, Austin
