About this listing

Our clean, comfy duplex has quick access to Prospect Park, the beach & city--try the best jerk chicken in BK & be in Manhattan in 20 minutes! This up-and-coming area has a mix of folks from the Caribbean islands & young professionals & maintains a "real Brooklyn" vibe. It's the last area on the park to remain so culturally diverse. It's unpolished & full of Jamaican restaurants, delis & dollar stores, with cute bars and cafes popping up slowly. We love the diversity, the park & express Q train!

THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT TO READ AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE BOOKING: The apartment is located in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens / Flatbush, just steps to Prospect Park and close to the Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Brooklyn Museum and Brooklyn Zoo! This up-and-coming neighborhood is culturally diverse, with a mix of people from the Caribbean islands and young professionals. The neighborhood still has a very "real Brooklyn" vibe--it is the last neighborhood on the park to remain so culturally diverse. This means that it is not full of cute cafes and bars, although some are beginning to pop up. The neighborhood is still full of Jamaican restaurants, delis, dollar stores. The income level is mixed. We live here because we appreciate the realness of the neighborhood, the 5-minute walk to Prospect Park and the express Q train. We do not live here because it is cute and full of people that look like us.

The apartment is a duplex (2 floors). This rental room, the two full bathrooms (both shared), kitchen and living room are located on the ground floor. Because I host multiple guests at a time, there is an opportunity for you to interact with people from around the world!

This bedroom (13' x 10') has a full-sized bed, dresser, closet, an air conditioner (spring-fall), a space heater (winter) and a ceiling fan.

Amenities:
* Two shared bathrooms
* Shared kitchen and living room - please clean up after yourselves
* There is a shelf (cupboard and refrigerator) for you to keep food items
* French Press and Loose Tea Teapot
* There is not a microwave oven, but there is a counter top toaster oven and full stove/oven range
* Free WiFi (please bring your own computer)
* Towels & sheets- feel free to wash them during your stay
* Laundromat one block away
* Come and go as you wish

Check-in/Check-out:
Check-in time for the bedroom is 2pm and Check-out time is 11am. However, if you have an earlier arrival or later departure time, you are welcome to leave your luggage in the living room and use the apartment for the day. Upon booking the reservation you will receive the House Manual from Airbnb with details on how to retrieve a key from the lockbox, located outside the front door of the apartment.

Guest access

The guests have access to the ground level of the apartment, which has 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room, all which are shared.

Interaction with guests

I (Gina) love interacting with my guests, however, I am out most of the day and evening, so we may not cross paths during your stay. Sadiya and Carlos are home more than I am and are very friendly, so feel free to chat them up! I am happy to answer questions/concerns via phone (voice/text) and email. Please don't hesitate to reach out, we want to make your stay awesome!

Getting around

Trains:
We love the express Q train--it's the fastest way to get to Manhattan--and it connects to all the other trains at different places in BK and Manhattan.
Q (5 min walk), B (10 min walk), 2/5 (9 min walk); 3, 4, A, C, N, R, D, and F all available by transfer. About 20 mins to lower Manhattan or Coney Island and 45 mins to Uptown Manhattan. The NYC MTA subway/buses run all night long.

There are also city taxis and private car services.

Other things to note

Because I host multiple guests at a time, there is an opportunity for you to interact with people from around the world!

I'm so glad I decided to stay here. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The neighborhood was quiet and very close to the train station. If I'm ever in New York again, I'll definitely stay here again.

I had such an incredible trip to Brooklyn and frankly fell in love by the time I left. I was on my medical rotations for month at SUNY downstate in this location was tremendous. The fact that you have affordability, proximity to the city, and to the rest of Brooklyn including Prospect Park!! is amazing. The roommates here are wonderful and refreshing. By the time you leave you won't know which one you love more, including Amos, the new dog... It's cute. He strictly stays downstairs so we only see him momentarily and it's a another nice feature. The Q train is right there provides entire access to the city - they upgraded and now it hits all the major points including the upper Eastside. You can even transfer their to the F and get to Queens if you want. The Q hits canal in Soho first so it's right there. Some of my favorite places were Jenni's Roti, tugboat coffee shop, and the chicken Tika at Gyro hero. Lastly of course Prospect Park is incredible. The diversity of the areas also second to none. I'll really miss it and I wish you all the best! Thank you to my hosts.. Enjoy and Live your dreams, always!

Very welcoming hosts - a solid, affordable option in Brooklyn. Most of the other renters were respectful and great to get to know. Everything was labeled and common sense. Great for self-sufficient people or working professionals. The immediate location around the property isn't much to speak of, but it provided easy access to Manhattan and other parts of Brooklyn.

Gina, Sadiya & Carlos User ProfileGina, Sadiya & Carlos is a superhost.

Hello!

We are roommates Gina, Sadiya and Carlos, and between the three of us we have lots of languages covered :)

Gina (English, Spanish): Welcome, we are thrilled you are here!! I am a Massage Therapist, Colon Hydrotherapist and Yoga Teacher (ExhaleHealingArts). I commute to work via the handmade Bamboo Bicycle I built. I am active--swimming, traveling, hiking, music, you name it! I moved to NYC after living in Rincon, Puerto Rico (10 yrs!) where I surfed, worked and built an Earthdome on my 5-acre property. I'm in-and-out of the apartment a lot, but Sadiya and Carlos are always around.

Sadiya & Carlos:

Sadiya (English, Urdu, Hindi, some Punjabi): Hi! I'm originally from Brooklyn, New York. I am a full time Barista, and a full time student. My husband, Carlos, and I are are very reachable. You can always send me a text, I'm good with answering. Our apartment is really a great place to live--it is cozy, clean, and coffee friendly!!! Their are a few great coffee shops in the neighborhood and Prospect Park is a 5 min walk, BONUS! We are friendly, laid back, very welcoming to our new guests, and we love to bond over a great cup of coffee! :)

Carlos (Spanish, English): Hello everyone, I'm Carlos, originally from Barcelona, Spain. I'm a Spanish Teacher. Some of my hobbies are exploring NY, rollerblading at Prospect Park, and especially swimming at YMCA.

We look forward to meeting you :)
