We're handily situated a short distance from the heart of the village, hidden behind a high wall at the gateway to the village that offers no clue to the stunning property and rice fields that lie behind it.

The Villa at Satori:
The newly furnished and beautifully appointed 2 bedroom Villa is actually three stand-alone buildings side by side, set amongst tropical gardens. It boasts a spectacular infinity pool, a home cinema, and shared use of the fully equipped massage / yoga studio.
It is somewhat rare around Ubud in that it features a living area that can be made outdoor OR indoor, depending on your preference.
The large dining/living area opens up on three sides to water features and the exclusive use pool that reaches out toward the rice field/temple view. This is one of the many features that makes Satori somewhat unique. Most traditional style villas have their living areas always open to the elements, truly outdoor rooms and kitchens. While that affords it's benefits it also means that for many properties only your bedrooms have protection from all the life that living in the tropics brings.
At Satori the choice is yours. You can slide the windows back to have traditional outdoor living, or, if bugs and critters show up, simply slide them closed while still enjoying the postcard view!
Relax, read or entertain in this tranquil space or make use of, arguably, the best home cinema in Ubud, featuring a state of the art 3D/HD projector and boasting a growing library of over 100 movies and TV shows. The kitchen is perfect for entertaining (whether you're manning it personally, or you're leaving it all to our wonderful housekeeper Wayan) In addition to being equipped with imported kitchenware the kitchen features a washer/dryer, vegetable/fruit juicer and espresso machine.
The huge Master Suite features a super king size bed, sofa that coverts to a single bed for a child, flat screen cable TV with DVD and an Ipod dock/speaker system. It has a magical al fresco shower and garden bath. The charming Guest Suite boasts a stunning view and features a queen size bed, flat screen cable TV and DVD and a large bathroom with open roof shower. Both bedroom suites offer a selection of memory foam or plush pillows, quality mattresses with luxury cotton bedding and air conditioning.
The shared yoga/massage studio lies between the Villa and the neighboring Treehouse. It's furnished with two quality massage tables, yoga mats, oil burner and a stereo system pre-loaded with relaxing sounds and music. Pick from our menu of talented massage therapists to visit for the perfect end to a memorable Bali day!
At your service...
While there is no doubt Satori's accommodation and setting will impress we predict it will be our wonderful staff that will ensure your stay is truly memorable. Sak Ming our manager knows Ubud like few others. She is on call to help you with any query or problem. Wayan our Villa housekeeper loves to receive guests (and their children!) and is on hand daily to clean, shop, wash clothes, cook light meals and help in anyway that might make your stay more comfortable. Finally Nengah our driver can be called upon at anytime, for airport pick ups, day tours or simply to buzz you around town at a great price.
At Satori we can assist you in arranging almost anything, at cost price. We never receive a commission or kick back from any service or company we might recommend. We simply want you have to have an amazing experience, at the best price possible.
Satori is handily placed only 2km from the heart of Ubud's dining/shopping area.
The propert lies amongst lush jungle gardens above a stream of great importance to the local village. At one end lies a small temple where holy water is collected from an underground spring for important ceremonies and at the other is a bathing and laundry area, a social point for local villagers. Making your home away from home at Satori means the magic of daily Balinese life is all around....

Our stay at Satori was fantastic! We were looked after so well, and the villa was every bit as beautiful as the photos. The 5 star resorts in Nusa Dua do not come close to the hospitality and accommodations that Satori provides.
We have already recommended to friends and family, and will most certainly be back!
We loved staying here. The staff were wonderful. They were incredibly helpful and friendly, and made us feel totally at home. Started every morning with Wayan's incredible fruit mountain breakfast, which we enjoyed by the pool overlooking the rice paddies. Heaven! It's very close to town, so we hired a scooter and zipped around enjoying the sites of Ubud. Can't really fault this place, the rooms were 5 star, and my partner particularly liked the expansive bathroom with it's outdoor shower. They seem to have thought of everything, there is even a projector so you can relax at night and watch you're favourite movie with the gorgeous infinity pool as a a backdrop. Only problem is you won't want to go home!
Looks like paradise? The pictures cannot even capture closely how beautiful this place is!
I stayed for almost 10 days at Satori, mostly at the Villa, and I simply LOVED it there - after arriving it took me about 30 minutes to realize that this is all real.
Satori is an amazing hideout for everyone who needs to relax, to get a timeout and enjoy the Balinese landscape. It just made me speechless every morning when I woke up, how stunning the entire place is – I could forever lay in the infinity pool, stare at the rice paddies, read a book and just breathe in the warm Bali-Spirit.
Speaking of warmth, Wayan and Kadek, the housekeepers, took perfect care of me - although I blame them for a serious Fruitmountain-Addiction (I’m usually not the breakfast fan but I never ate anything comparable and was looking forward to it every evening already – you have to try THIS!) – they both are just so sweet and help you with anything you need. They always smile have such a happy spirit. Plus Wayan’s homemade sambal is absolutely gorgeous!
Enough of the food – the Villa and the Treehouse are located a bit outside downtown Ubud, but neither walking or taking a cab/ scooter is a big deal. I always preferred to walk downtown and go back by taxi. Wayan, Kadek or Sak Ming (the Manager, who is such a sweet person too) will be happy to organize you a Scooter for rent or a driver. I took a daytrip with Dewa and it was really funny and interesting, because he does not only drive you, he can also provide you with useful tips and insights on Balinese culture too.
The entire place is really created with love – while the Villa is really luxurious and spacious, the Treehouse is very cosy and has a balcony with a great view. I think it’s perfect to rent the entire place with family or/ and friends and I’ll definitely come back to Satori…and I thank Mark for having created such an island of peace inside the island I love!
Our stay in the villa was absolutely superb, it's such a beautiful place and the setting was amazing. The Villa staff Wayan and Kadek were great too, so warm and welcoming and so helpful with organising drivers, lunch, massage etc at the villa.
Our driver Dewa (organised by the villa) was also really good and we continued to use him while we were there. Very easy going, happy to suggest a few things and show us some beautiful parts of Bali whilst avoiding some of the touristy spots which was perfect for us.
We really couldn't fault anything about our stay there, it was a real pleasure and I would highly recommended Villa Satori.
Thanks for making our trip to Ubud so enjoyable and relaxing.
We spent six nights in the Villa at Satori. If you are reading this review and don't book this place, you need your head read. The Villa, the garden, and the view across the rice fields are divine. We woke each morning to swooping swallows, a gaggle of ducks wadding through the rice fields and fresh fruit salad prepared by the Villa's staff.
All of the staff were friendly, genuine, funny and helpful people. The house is cleaned, food cooked if you want it (by providing shopping money), the rooms, pool and garden cleaned every day. Drivers can be organised, either the quick trip into town, or around the island. We used Tony a lot, and he was safe, funny and knowledgeable. Nothing is too much trouble.
The centre of the village is an easy 30 minute walk, or a 5 minute drive away. We spent our evenings in the villa - in the pool, eating Wayan's cooking or home delivered food (lots of choices), and watching movies.
We will be back!
This is an awesome place. Since the other reviews already say it all I just want to describe my most favorable memory: Floating in the pool looking across green rice field and hearing the sounds of bells of a Hindu ceremony in the close by temple.
Satori Villa was absolutely stunning and wonderful. It was even more beautiful than the pictures online! Just a perfect oasis just outside the center of Ubud, but still right in the thick of things (within a 5 or 10 minute drive of everything you'd need in Ubud). The villa was almost too much for us, as we're just one couple, and there are two very separate bedrooms and bathrooms. For a couple, I'd suggest the amazing treehouse, or renting the villa with friends or two couples, although for us the splurge was divine. Maybe one day we'll bring friends and rent the entire place out! What you're coming here for is the wonderful private plunge infinity pool (great after a hot, humid day of touring) that overlooks a unbelievably verdant green rice paddy. There's a lovely swinging bench outside of the bedroom that overlooks a little ponds where ducks live. It was so charming I could've just watched those ducks all day long! Another amazing perk that I didn't realize was that you truly have your own staff. Wayan is bright, insanely kind and sweet, generous, and really wants to please guests and make sure they have a wonderful time. She did our laundry, cleaned, made us a lovely light breakfast of fresh fruit, yoghurt, and muesli every day, arranged everything we needed, from a driver to cooking classes, etc, and even cooked chicken curry for us! She was happy to go above and beyond, and we loved her. The house manager, Sak Ming, is wonderful as well. She lived in California for 12 years, so her English is perfect, and she can help you with anything if Wayan can't (though that's unlikely). Just so you know, you're coming here for the view and surrounds, the outdoor shower, the koi ponds. The inside, while lovely and absolutely up to Western standards, is simply done, without the frills that perhaps some resorts might have. We were extremely happy, and even without fanciful architecture inside, there are lovely modern amenities, like an ipod/iphone charger, cable TV with flatscreen plus tons of movies, and even a multi-country power adapter. There were even lovely enough to lend us a mobile phone with a local sim card, we just bought the minutes, which Wayan arranged for us. Perhaps the BEST perk of all was that they arranged a driver for us. Our driver Dewa was the loveliest, sweetest man alive. He picked us up at the airport, came to pick us up at the villa daily, and drove us all around the island for ridiculously reasonable prices (about $30USD for an entire 6-9 hour day in Ubud and surrounds and about $60USD for far reaching trips that were hours away). Dewa even acted as something of a tour guide, and his English is great (although he's modest about it). We would happily recommend the villa to family, friends and come back ourselves any time we get the opportunity. Thanks Mark, Wayan, Kadek, Dewa, and Sak...
What a great location. we absolutely loved our stay. I t was very comfortable and spacious, you never really wanted to leave the house into the mayhem of the city, as it all happens right infront of you. Enjoy.
We had a lovely stay at Satori Villa. The Villa is spectacular as is its setting. It is only a short walk to the centre of Ubud. Wayan and Kadek were charming hosts and we felt very much at home.
Satori was everything we dreamed it would be, and more.
The whole place was divine, the pool, the view, the grounds, the bed (like sleeping on a cloud), the staff and the location.
Our stay was relaxing and peaceful. We loved watching the ducks waddle in a line across the rice fields and we enjoyed the ever changing view as the light shifted throughout the day.
The great staff made it all so easy, from check-in to departure and even the airport transfer.
The location is great, just a short walk into Ubud, or a $5 taxi ride, or a $2 ride on the back of a scooter (safer than you might think).
We adore Satori and can't wait to return and share the place with some friends.
