OXFORD STREET, the premier shopping street in Europe is under a mile(1km) walk from the apartment. It is one and a half miles(2km) from end to end and is a shoppers paradise. Most shops open 10am until 6 or 7pm. Many also open on Sunday from 12 to 6pm with late nights on Thursday. Oxford Street is best known for Selfridges and the other big department stores which are all found in the section from Marble Arch to Oxford Circus, along with most of the big-name multinationals such as Nike, Primark, Topshop, Apple, etc. It's more of the same towards Tottenham Court Road, but generally on a smaller scale. Oxford Street is said to be the busiest shopping street in Europe.

The section of Edgware Road near to Marble Arch is famous for its distinctive Middle-Eastern character. Lebanese restaurants, shisha cafes and clubs line both sides of the road, with some staying open late into the night. Marble Arch station is a few minutes walk from the southern end of Edgware Road.

Just a short step away from the tourist hordes, the apartment still has the feel of a real neighbourhood, the wealthy residents are becoming ever more attractive as Harley Street, the traditional home of England's best doctors, has recently become the heart of the UK's flourishing plastic surgery industry.

The beautiful architecture (the Wallace Collection is a must) and the open spaces of Regent's Park and Hyde Park make this a fine area to have a wander, when the sun's out there are fewer places in London as scenic and special as Hyde Park.

While Marylebone High Street is absolutely charming, lined with traditional pubs, beautiful boutiques and shops (including the flagship Daunt Books) and excellent local restaurants as well as an impressive mix of hotels - and a farmer's market every Saturday.

A short walk from Marylebone is the home of the most famous fictional detective in the world 'Sherlock Holmes' bachelor flat at 221B Baker Street and the popular waxworks at Madame Tussauds.

  • Great location and price, kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, french press coffee-maker, etc. The two rooms each had a door off the foyer so great separation for privacy. Small grocery and ATM just a block away; several neighborhood pubs in the area, two tube stations within easy walking. Carrie was very responsive to all our queries.
However there are a few cons. There was no clothes drying rack which is a problem with no dryer! No pepper and only two matches (for lighting the stove), and only enough cereal for maybe two bowls. The mattress on the divan/bed in the front room was too large for the frame and looked dirty so we put two sheets over it for sleeping. We did not come to London to watch TV, though we would have liked to catch a bit of BBC but were unable to because there was "no signal" and no instructions available to possibly find that signal. Noise from the floor above was excessive, the ceilings are low and evidently thin. Passable lodgings, but we will try another place when we come back to London.

  • Had a great stay of 4 nights in this apartment. We were 2 adults and 2 kids and that worked out fine. This a great location for exploring London. 3 tube lines within a few blocks and walking distance to Regent and Hyde Park - we walked over to catch the Rolling Stones concert! 4th floor walk up was fine. Kitchen was well-equipped but could have been a little cleaner. Tesco market was very close. Carrie was very organized and gave us all the information we needed for our visit.

  • Great location with excellent security. Though would not recommend for more than 2 people. The sofa bed does not lay flat so makes for difficulty sleeping any additional guests, we had 2 children sleeping on it.

  • Really great place to stay for a family of 4. Really well situated (near Marybelone station but also Baker street station). The place is clean and full of équipements.. We didn't see Carrie but we received all the informations we needed. Carrie used the master lock to have the keys so it is really convenient ...

  • This apartment was well beyond the very reasonable price we paid for it! Perfectly situated close to a very central London underground station, with a nearby Tesco for everyday needs as well as a lot of cute and generous cafes and restaurants. The apartment was spotlessly clean and very well furnished with sleek modern furniture and lovely artworks, and was actually even mroe beautiful than in the photos. Though the apartment was small, it very comfortably sleeps four adults. The bedroom has a large and comfortable bed with enough pillows (and extras if you need them), and the sofa bed in the living room was even larger! Lots of sunlight coming through the window, lovely in the mornings Also a cool street view of a municipal town hall type looking building.

Kitchen had all the appliances and complimentary cereal, tea and coffee. We were also pleasantly surprised at receiving a small gift of Lindt chocolates and delicious almond biscotti.

The bathroom was small and is actually an ensuite in the bedroom, but did the job. We were even provided with body wash, both female and male, which was very considerate.

Would highly recommend staying here as this was a far better price than any decent hotel in the same area and truly looked like a four star room!
